SFGTP2 Results & Photos Thread. (Who Am I Kidding? These'll Never Get Finished!!!)

I was in the lead until lap 3 when the tires took a dump and went from first to last in 1/4 a lap. I literally could not get the car to even to straight let alone try to turn without 180'ing....not so fun imo.

Jerome

Hehehehe!

Ah, the beauty of the self-levelling handicap races! ;)
Not only is relative speed of the cars an issue, but self-control too! It's all so well & good being able to turn a series of jaw-dropping laps  in any given car, a feat which jump_ace is certainly more than capable of, given any car and track combo :scared:, but the handicapper series is a little more shrewd than that, as it relies on the driver's ability to factor in the tyre-wear aspect too! :sly:
We all found out about that with the XR8, which despite being FR, has a huge appetite for front tyres , and those of us who drove the Z06 found that small downforce + huuuuge torque = rear tyre-muncher !!
After you get used to not hammering the throttle down out of every bend, it's a manageable ride!

Anyway, I digress.....
Results for Day 1 are now completed. All that remains are 24 race descriptions for the Handicap series, 9 descriptions for the day 1 P'n'M series.
And all of day 2's descriptions, none of which I wrote down! :ouch:
Anyone have any good memories of JGTC or Performance Car battles worthy of mention, bar the obvious sideways M5? :D

Race 5: Nurburgring (2 Laps)

1st juana b. Nissan 10
2nd Kylehnat Mitsubishi 6
3rd Touring Mars Mazda 4
4th Smallhorses Mitsubishi 3
5th V1P3R Nissan 2
6th Strop Nissan 1
Best. Race. eVaR!!!
I think Josh was less than one second behind me the whole time. Too bad my Mitsu was 10 mph slower on the straight :grumpy:.

Nick and I had a fantastic race there, too... I think Nick got punted off in the early stages of the race, and Kyle and Jerome scampered off into the distance. I held a solid third place, but could see one of the blue dots was closing me down quite quickly... By the end of lap 2, Nick was right behind - coming into the 'Heineken Sapporo' Straight, and having the slipstream tow, he passed me... luckily, however, he passed me early in the straight, and I managed to get enough of a tow to catapult back ahead, just in time for a frantic final few corners to hold onto 3rd...

My heart was racing during that one. That was too close to actual work(I mean with the calories I expended trying to keep up with you on the corners).

So that explains the beer intake? To keep up the calorie level?

Two Sapporo Straight? :boggled:
Maybe 12 Oz. bottles, but not the 22 Oz. cans we had!
In the 30 or-so seconds spent on that stretch, consuming 44 Oz. of beer too, would be nigh-on impossible!

I'm sorry. I didn't realize I elevated your heart rate. That was downright rude of me :D. That Evo was delightfully tossable...

Sometimes, you just gotta bring your drinkin' shoes :dopey:.

Well, I used to be able to see off a 20 Oz. (British Pint) of Guinness in about 6s, but I've never tried to down another immediately afterward! That's the hard bit, 'cos you'd be super-bloated after that! :indiff:
Can't imagine it after 2 gassy Sapporos!

We'd be OK if the "Two Sapporo Straight" was followed immediately by "Chuckbucket Chicane" :ill:

::lol: @ posts 62 -68:

Man, I would love to give +REP's to you guys for the the quality of humor in those posts. Dunno if that would go against the spirit of the AUP though.:embarrassed:

:idea:As for the videos of the races, will we be seeing what happened with the Clio Endurance Race as well? It'll be interesting to see what happened there.

Thanks CAMikaze, any sort of +rep would be nice, anywhere! ;)

As for videos, we weren't as technologically enabled, recording-wise as the UKGTP bods, (but we did have the live webcam!) so there's no footage of the endurance race. Quick cellphone / digital camera mpegs are as good as we got, but none of the Clios. Sorry. :(

Post #1 is taking shape, full race descriptions for the first 10 races are now in place. Let me know if there's anything inaccurate or in poor taste in there and I'll edit it later.

Ahhhh, memories... The XR-Gr8, the NS-Sex, the 3-speed Crapparal, and me being an innocent victim in the Mess-O'-Mulsanne. And of course, jump_ace's plot to make things a little more interesting at El Capitan :D. I thought he was just being smug and letting the 50-second gap collapse for fun .

Nice writeups 👍. I can't wait to see the recaps of when I trounced the field with utterly dominant performances, which in no way involved shunting others, taking secret shortcuts on my home track, launching an aerial assault on the streets of Tokyo, or putting laxatives in your beers.

Looking forward to SFGTP3 . It probably won't involve another epic drive, though, as excursions to Maui and Switzerland will chew very deeply into my vacation allotment for next year :D.

.....or putting laxatives in your beers...

That'd explain the appearance of Captain "Slackbladder"!

Wibble.

Is that a bet? I mean, not that I'm interested, or anything.

Yes, 5 beers has about the calories as a cheeseburger, right?
Ahhhh, memories... putting laxatives in your beers.
I lost 10lbs from that. Thanks heaps.:grumpy:
And, I don't think I'm ever going to get that out of the carpet.

Terrific results Nick, and thanks once again for EVERYTHING. I'll try to make it to the next one, but we'll see, it may have to wait with the wedding this summer I have to save for :nervous: Great racing guys, loved every minute of it, especially the 10:30am beer, nice touch!

 Yeah TM probably didn't feel it either. :dopey:

Oh, and TM, I thought it was funny asking you if you were good at Tourist Trophy because of your 'leaning' technique.

Hahaha, seemed almost natural, eh? lolz

Another 10 races are written up in post #1. It's been slow going, but the first (and longest) event is almost complete! 👍 Let me know what you lot think!

It's looking good! I forgot I managed a second at Infineon for race 19! What is the world coming to?!

And by the way the Altezza Race Cars sound awful, especially on headphones without volume control! :ouch:

Smallhorses
while Kylehnat also seems determined to drive every car in the series
Not the Z06!! :D.

That was a car? I thought Nick had acquired a GT4 hack that allowed you to race a vaccuum cleaner!

Sorry, didn't feel anything

Im north of you guys and I can feel it. I dont know why, but I can usually feel something sloshing around in my stomach, or my hangers in my closet stat to sway a little.

At this rate, we are going to have an earthquake on SFGTP3, but it shouldn't stop the racing, should it?

Im north of you guys and I can feel it.

That's nonsense, plain & simple. Look at the shakemap you posted.
People in Riverside, east of LA didn't feel a little tremor like that, so there's no way you can feel it in Marin County over 500 miles away! :dunce:

However, take a look at this, you're pretty close to Healdsburg, which is one of California's most active earthquake hotspots, chances are you felt a little tremor from one of those daily quakes up there! :sly:
