Old Shift just had the three, right? I wonder what the new one is?

Mind you, it's a shame, if they are going to do GT1/3, that they couldn't model the new Silverstone. Oh, and the new Bus Stop at Spa, while they are at it!

Personally, my cash is ALWAYS available for track DLC's. While the cars were a nice bonus (the 8c? eargasm!) the new Riviera tracks were the entire reason for my getting the Exotic DLC for Shift.

I am surprised more effort isn't made to make more tracks for DLC. A fraction of the cost of coding an entire game, but you could easily get say $30 for four or five new tracks (plus variants) if they are important enough. Two of those, and you made as much as a new entire GAME, with a fraction of the work!

I'm pretty sure they've got the new GP track. If you look at the list of variations;

GP
Bridge Grand Prix
International (2009)
National

GT1 and GT3 both raced on the new Silverstone GP circuit last year, so I'm pretty they've got that under the 'GP' name.

I'm afraid I doubt it. Shift 1's Silverstone was also called Silverstone GP. And, not only has the track layout changed dramatically, but whole new buildings, stands, a BUNCH of stuff is very different with the new layout. I am sure that EA/SMS would trumpet this loudly if they had done so.

I know that, but the fact they've included a specific layout called 'Bridge Grand Prix' (in reference to the Bridge corner they used to go through, like on the original Shift) which was the old GP circuit, there hasn't been another variation apart from the new GP circuit which includes the 'Arena' complex.

And I know about the changes other than the layout, as I've mentioned before I'm a big FIA GT fan and actually went to Silverstone for the event last year. And not that much had changed FYI, there were a couple of new larger capacity stands and the first corner of the track had been made wider, but other than that nothing else had really changed (the new pits weren't completed at the time so are irrelevant).

EDIT: Also, Silverstone currently has the choice to run either the GP Circuit, or the so called 'Bridge Circuit' so both circuits can still be run despite the trackside furniture changing. Only the big events get to run the new GP circuit though.

Maybe, maybe they just haven't gotten around to it yet. They've had plenty of other things to trumpet.

I admit I'd be surprised if they've modelled the new version, but then I wouldn't be that surprised. As Speedster points out, it's not a massive change from the old circuit that they already had modelled, and it would be slightly odd for them to leave it out. I'm more wondering if they've updated their Spa version to include the current version of the track instead of the pre-2007 version that was in Shift 1.

Where did you get that info?

HOCKENHEIM, we know its the new layout - its been on their site for quite some time now but MONZA I thought it was the oval layout & SILVERSTONE the old one

Where? From the official website of cause. In case of confusion, I meant "new added track layout", NOT "up-to-date track layout" you guys discussed a lot above.

And they've changed the descriptions too. MONZA now lists GP and Junior, and HOCKENHEIM lists GP, National, and Short. I'm dead certain that both originally only listed one layout.

This is interesting. Even tracks that are "released" may have more variations added that we don't yet know about.

All my favourite tracks are there. Spa, Donington, Bathurst, Brands Hatch, Nordschleife etc.. And a no nonsense selection of cars. Now, if only there will be some Ferrari DLC I can't think of much else to ask for :)

Preordered!

It isn't just the track itself... grandstands and many other things on the track sidelines have changed between the old Silverstone and new. This is MUCH more than just adding a new bit of track.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to see the current layout, but adding the new track sections and visuals is a MUCH bigger job than just porting the old track (with another variant) in from Shift 1.

Please, oh please, let me be wrong, though!

Well Spa has been updated with the newer bus stop chicane, so can't see why Silverstone couldn't be updated too :)

Yeah hopefully we will get Ferrari DLC again!

I think the licensing issues remain (AFAIK). Expect Ferrari on XBox alone.

But we have Porsche (real Porsche, not RUF's), Gumpert, and a bunch of others that GT5 does not have. And REAL GT1/3 race cars. I'll take those over Ferrari any day.

Yep, I wouldn't get your hopes up for PS3 Ferraris. It might happen, but probably not.

Still, the issue is likely cash based. The better the game does in sales, the higher the likelihood that EA just forks out however many dollars is being asked for the licence.

I prefer the old bus-stop chicane but it's better this way.

I will have the old bus-stop chicane in Shift and the new one in Shift 2! :D

Now, if only we would get in a DLC the old Hockenheim layout.... ;)

Why should a wish for Ferraris in a racing game be taken as a wish for road cars  We Ferraristi are of course thinking about GT1/2/3 race cars - this is a GT racing game after all, and Ferraris are an important part of that. Even if there are no Ferraris in the current GT1 class, there are 430's in the GT2/3 classes and I expect 458's will appear too. The realism aspect of it depends on which series and seasons are in the game, of course, but Ferrari race cars can only be good in any case. Forza Ferrari! :D

The Ferraris would likely be treated in the same way as the other cars, they start as road cars and their ultimate upgrade version is the GT1/GT3 class version.

I'd be wetting myself with glee if there was DLC with a GT2/GT3 430 or 458. I remain eternally pissed that GT5 didn't see fit to include the Super GT 430s in their lineup.

Still, it's certainly not a matter of one thing being traded off for another here. If they can get it, they will. If they can't, then they can't. It's Ferrari, it's not like they're unaware that everyone wants to have a Ferrari race car. Hell, any petrolhead, even the ones that HATE Ferrari, would still take them for at least one spin if they were there.

amazing track and car list, i'm impressed. I will buy it, i've got platinum in shift one but it wasn't a good game, this looks way better. Just hope that the drift part of the game won't be huge cause it's a part i'm not gonna play.

I didn't think that was how it worked? Judging from the car list it looks like they have GT1/GT3 cars listed completely separately. Especially when the GT1 cars are so different from their road going counter-parts (take the GT-R for example, it's got a V8 in GT1). I believed that the 'works' cars was for every other car aside from the GT1/GT3 cars.

On the old game they had the dedicated racing cars (DBR9, 911 GT3 RSR, Audi R8 LMS and the M3 GT2) listed as separate cars too. You just couldn't use them in career for some bizzare reason.

That sucks big time in book. I for one will be buying the PS3 version, because the MS wheel is exceptionally bad compared to the G25. I have to manage in Forza because I have no choice, but man... The question for me is, will a huge lack of immersion be worth Ferraris?

Same goes for GT3. The BMW Z4 GT3 also has a V8 whereas the roadgoing Z4 has a straight 6.
or just find a second hand 911 turbo S, which is hard enough I know.
That has crossed my mind. And I should be able to get a few $ for the MS and G25 combined, so maybe I should really think carefully about that option.

They are updating the car list
