Try the Premium Audi it's slower than average very hard to win with but fun to drive because of no roof. You can manage to win with this car if you have good skills but if your not that good (like me xD) add a turbo, very fun car especially at night

You don't necessarily need the fastest car outright, just one that can outlast them between pits.

I usually do 3:35s to get around 11-12 laps per stint, and usually run my car around 620-640 PP.

Running 620pp would be insane. Lowest I've ever ran was 640pp, and I won by 3mins

Yes that's insane because 650 PP is like 450-550 HP and making that even lower your car will just feel suppressed...

I know, it can get interesting though, and makes the race a really struggle (like real Le mans). Remember, every second counts (2011 Le Mans)

A bit past 13 hours in, it is light enough now to see and it starts raining! My lap times are back down to the low 3:30's and P2 is still -3 laps, but I have no idea if he is holding steady, gaining or losing on me now. Kind of strange that I am finding it harder to find my brake and turn in points in the day due to lack of visibility from rain splatter on the wind screen and the signage not glowing in the head lights against the dark night time sky. Maybe I can pick up the pace again once I get used to running in the rain.

Thanks Shoe_67 for a nice guide. I'm getting ready to run this race for the first time (I've been out of circulation for a few years) and your guide has giving me a bit to think about. Makes me glad I'd didn't just grab my Speed 8 and go running into it blindly.

Thanks for taking the time to share this! 👍 👍

No problem mate. I enjoy helping people. Have a good race and let me know how it goes. 👍

Just got into the game this past month and messages like this inspires me to take this game further is the time and attention you have shared with US. Many thanks shoe. Looking forward to getting a spec driver enough xp to give it a spin.

Many thanks.

Ive noticed the laps are faster at night too. I've ran the 24h race three times (plus a fourth that was ended 19h into it). In all the races, my fast lap was at night. I think it has something to do with track temp (colder at night=more grip). Sounds like a great race so far! 👍

And I only got the game in march

More grip and/or more power from the engine due to cooler air coming in.

I've seen it first-hand in real racing. I drove in a 24 hour crapcan race (ChumpCar World Series) and had a pretty obvious power gain at 6 am vs. 6 pm. I knocked ~4s off my fast lap time (2:20-ish down to mid-2:16), and I think at least 3s of that was from the car running better.

That's a cool story to hear. Any footage or YouTube vids of the race? Also, how'd you finish? 👍

And thank you passatom. It is nice to know this is appreciated 👍 good luck when you run it

We finished 13th out of 43 cars that turned laps in our classification. The end of the race was a big disappointment, as we had an electrical problem kill power to the fuel pump with ~1 hr remaining, and fixed it a minute or so after they threw the checkered flag. :ouch:

Highlight video from my 2nd (night) and 3rd (dawn) stints here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PsXl7OZJTk The dawn run starts at ~7:05 in the video. We were running at Texas World Speedway, on the heavy gray layout: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_World_Speedway

The nighttime driving isn't really quite as bad as the video makes it look, as the contrast between the dark and the headlights washes out areas that aren't well lit but have enough light to see much moreso in the video than when you're sitting in the driver's seat. It's still a far cry from the well-defined track edges that you get at night at Sarthe and the 'Ring in-game, though.

That was a great video 👍 sorry to hear about that finish, but a great effort. It would be amazing to get to drive in a full enduro at some point. Good luck when you get to run it in GT

Thanks, glad you liked it! I've done all the enduros in GT, but I may go back and revisit the 24-hour races at some point. The first time through, I was mainly focused on making sure I won so I could bank the trophies, hence (particularly at Sarthe) I used cars that overpowered the field. It could be fun to do them again with a tighter field where I have to work to win.

Latest update: my lap times dropped into the 3:50's through this rain storm, but this allowed me to make 12 lap stints so I have been gaining about a lap per fuel run on P2. Around 21:30 the rain slowed and the sun began to show, now at 22:10 it is good and dry. I was getting tired of fighting this beast of a Jag on this slick, rain soaked track, looks like I will be able to finish it off turning some fast times! A little anti-climatic being +9 laps, but still looking forward to setting some good lap times again. 1:50 to go, I will finish this off after work tonight 👍

Well, good luck tonight 👍 also, how many total laps have you run? Close to 400 maybe (was 380ish before 2.08/2.09 updates). Haven't ran the race since then.

Nothing real important in the last couple of hours except that I got to run some hot laps again on a dry, sunny track. Lap times were back down in the low 3:30's, well off of my best of the race overnight at 3:25.272. There was a car that must have run out of fuel at the end, he was driving around at about 50 mph the last 3-4 laps of the race. Not sure why he didn't pit, but I had to keep an eye out for him! Finished +10 laps on P2 on lap 383.
Seems odd now not to find myself out on that track a couple hours a day like I have for last week. Not sure how I feel about 24 hours out at the green hell, but it is the only race I have yet to run in the game. I have nearly two weeks vacation coming for xmas so I will probably run it then.

That is XP. For money, the race only gives 794,000cr. Very low for all the effort it takes to complete this race.

All the stupid prize amounts are ridiculous if you don't count the seasonal events. It's why most of my Cr. were earned by my B-Spec drivers until Seasonal Events came along... Now I A-Spec my money...

Personally, I prefer the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP - Team Peugeot Total '10. If I don't mess up too much, I can win the race without having to "work" hard on it.

I don't like driving that car personally.

Challange Accepted (grammer nazi)

The only thing that I could say to improve this guide would be to break the large section into paragraphs. Otherwise, it's a very good and useful guide. Great work on this!

I'll do the Enduros after Christmas, when I'll have my G27.

Started this race with the XJR-9. Currently 6 hours in and doing good. The only problem I'm having is the Puegeot in the dry it's just as fast as me and it doesn't make mistakes like I do so sometimes I have to cut the corners a little to stay in front. I'm running 11 lap stints on Soft/hard tires and usually end up with maybe 0-1 liters in my fuel tank by the end. I can increase this to about 2-3 with short-shifting @ 6500 rpm. It's been a fun race so far I'm looking forward to being off work for a couple days so I can hopefully bust the rest of this race out. Hope it stays dry.

I dig it. I set the gears a little wider and it goes 235 mph between chicanes without drafting, sticks to the road like a Red Bull car and corners as well as the Pescarolos or the Bentley.

Me too. The Peurgot 908 is my favourite of all the LMP cars. Driving line & ABS on 1. All other ads off. No TCS means increasing the top-end speed from 380 kms to 390. It's braking is excellent and it's fantastic through the porsche corners. I love it!

I drive the same way... just the line and as little ABS as possible.👍

On an unrelated topic: You mentioned LMP cars... can you explain to me what the "LM" in LM Race Car stands for? I see that a lot but it means exactly squat to me.

Praise the lord  I've only just started contemplating the endurance races, that'd come in very handy indeed 👍

Yes, you may take as much time as you'd like. I know people who can tackle the race in 24 hours nonstop, while some people take months to complete the race. 👍

Can you do other races while the race is suspended? (for example; playing online for 2 hours, doing an hour of enduro, then going back online to finish the race some other day?

No. You can only do that if you back up the save on the USB, then use your normal save, exit the race, and do online, then reload the USB to continue your race. However, I wouldn't recommend that because it is easy to mess up. You can however, play online with a second account, or just play another racing game if you don't feel like running a piece of the race.
