That is a valiant effort to take it on in a zz2. I am currently 19hr into a 24h Nurburgring race with an XJ13. I was 3mins ahead, but now it looks like I will have to quit because of the update :grumpy:

I dared not resume the last endurance race I had suspended on an alternate profile ...I have three profiles at the moment: one progressing through seasonals only, one only applying prize cars etc.
I already lost one 24H Nurburgring today, 115 laps into it. In my huge rage I re-installed the game and can't play for some days until I have taken the online bonuses back up to 200%.

Can I just ask, will 400 laps be enough to win the 24h Le Mans (A-spec)? I did some calculations and it seems like a safe advantage but I'm not sure.

Yes, my plan is to race the X2010 for 16-17 hours and then stop the car and go to sleep.

400 should win. I believe 380 was the mark before the 2.08 was enough. But now that fuel is different, it might be more

What I would like to ask is (since you've already provided a good guideline to tackling LeMans A-SPEC . . . now, what about B-SPEC?
I have got good drivers. Fast, great won/loss records, not overly stupid. But they just don't last (STRENGTH-wise) as long as the competition AI. My guys last 5-6 laps and even though their fuel is about 50% and the RH tires are in great condition, I've felt that they need to be pitted.
It has been my experience that when the drivers are TOO tired, they are not able to recoup their strength and that rolls over into their next stint in the car. Before you know it, they can only drive a lap and they have to be pitted again.
How did you get around this? You can reply direct (if you want) to jfstratz@hotmail.com
Thanks for your help

Are you saying that the drivers put themselves in? Or are you saying you put them in? If they pit themselves in, click on pit strategy, then change it to OFF. Not 10%, or anything like that. Otherwise, just put bob in an FGT or X1 and you will be able to turn the tv over and watch some shows while bob handles everything

Thanks. I gave it up after just two hours though, couldn't stand that camera shake. Will do it properly some day (some week, actually).

Running Tsukuba 9h now, with 224 HP Elise 111R RM, now that's fun! Even though it's got about 530 PP, I'm 2-3 seconds faster than Amuse Carbon R each lap - sadly, there's no S2000 Turbo to worry about. I'll try changing down from sport softs to sport hards to get some more excitement.

PS. Great first post, really interesting read. 👍

Thanks for the compliment. Also, X1s will make you go insane after a while. Too much concentration needed. I would much rather use a car that is easy flowing that you can pilot subconsciously. Also, I plan to do an update of the info within both the table and paragraph.

I'd say it's the opposite. I can drive the Red Bull and don't need to concentrate at all (especially at Le Mans - flat out 400 km/h through the esses? No problem!), and even if I spin or crash, it doesn't really affect my advantage.

When using adequate car, I have to worry about the tires, fuel strategy and lap consistency so basically I have to drive cleanly and make right decisions in order to win.

So, why are you doing the race then at all?

I mean, not that you have to justify this to anyone, but I find it odd, that you would spend that much time on finishing a race that you can't lose with an X1 and that will only earn you a (worthless) trophy.

You're actually describing very nicely yourself what the race is actually about, and I find that it's exactly that (tire/fuel strategy, etc.), which tempts me to do such a race. And it's more exciting the closer the race is.

Yeah, it's that worthless trophy I'm after. I won the Nurburgring 24h with a 650PP Mazda 787B and that was huge fun* but la Sarthe is not that interesting a venue as the Ring. The historical background is fantastic on both tracks but I find Le Mans' layout a bit boring in comparison to Nurburgring.

* - test the car at night before you decide to race for full 24 hours. That huge glowing TFT screen behind the wheel nearly killed my eyes.

Found that out when I used that for a 24h Le mans race. And about the 650pp 787b. I just had to quit a 24h Nurburgring race when I was 19h in using a XJ13. Was at 644pp. Had a 3min lead over the pecarolo. I really thought I could have won. Stupid update.

Ryk
better luck next time, Anything major with fuel consumption with 2.09?

No major changes I don't believe. Only issue is what I encountered on my Nurburgring race. That you can drive anymore.

&%€%&€% ..... I crashed out 136 laps into the 24H le Mans in the ZZII at 175 PP. Problem is, you have to push, and keep on pushing even in a car that is an obvious cheat like the ZZII.
Back to the Veyron it is, and the Cerbera Twelve has become almost uncontrollable (2.09 update?). The ZZII really is a boring car to drive anyway. You do not fall asleep in the Cerbera or the Veyron on Sports tyres! I do not drive race cars.

Edit: I had forgot to equip the Cerbera with a rear wing. lol!

I might do one for Nurburgring...

RAIN TIP: use Racing Soft tyres when racing in the rain. it hardly deteriorates, and all you have to worry about is fuel consumption.

Yes. Very helpful. This is because the endurance races have grip set to normal instead of real. So you lose almost no grip during rain. That is one feature I really hate involving this game

What about full rain (100% wet) ? Still racing hards/softs? Or switch to wets?

Yes, even at 100%. Intermediates work fine too... basically anything except full wets is fine. The AI switches to full wets but it is very difficult (at least for me at la Sarthe) to match both their pace and durability. On the other tires you can gain tons of time on them -- maybe sports or comfort tires would balance better with them?

Oh wow! I didn't know that - shall certainly do that in future.

Did you end up pitting after only 5 or 6 laps? I'm doing the race right now in the Peugeot 908 Team Peugeot Total '10 race car and I pit after 10-11 laps.

This guide was made before the recent patch that changed tire wear.

This was made before the 2.08 update. Back then you could only make that. I am currently working on an update of the times and laps. A lot of cars can get 12-13 laps now if you drive smart.

Edit: ^he beat me to it

Started my first ever 24hr race this weekend at LaMans in a stock Jag XJR-9. Car is making 10 laps running strong, can make 11 by cutting back a bit and short shifting and I pushed it to 12 one stint following another LM around in the draft. Currently just over half way in P1 +2 laps and dawn is starting to pierce through the night sky...can't wait until I can see again :)

Sounds like a great race. How has the weather been? Also, how are your lap times? 3:30 average?

Weather has been clear so far. Lap times run from 3:27 - 3:29 over a stint and seemed to pick up as the night came on, I was running 3:30's earlier. Not sure if that is part of the game or just me getting used to the track as I drove it more and settled into a rhythm. I only bought the game last April and have not driven this track a lot until now.

Ive noticed the laps are faster at night too. I've ran the 24h race three times (plus a fourth that was ended 19h into it). In all the races, my fast lap was at night. I think it has something to do with track temp (colder at night=more grip). Sounds like a great race so far! 👍

And I only got the game in march

Nice guide. 👍
Very informative regardless of being out of date.

I might do the 24h now, as I have tried many times in GT4 (failed).

As for what car, I'm thinking about using a car that can manage first place but averages a longer laptime so the race requires less laps to complete..?

Try the Premium Audi it's slower than average very hard to win with but fun to drive because of no roof. You can manage to win with this car if you have good skills but if your not that good (like me xD) add a turbo, very fun car especially at night
