because in this day of age. Everyone just want something that can't fight back to put the blame on.
Not sure if this is the proper thread to discuss this though, since it touches both the immigration, islam and ISIS threads, but I guess mods will move it if not appropriate.

But it's a bit more complex than that, it's not as simplified as you put it. Without going into too much detail: people will make the religion link, things have been happening at refugee camps (shariah law being enforced, local extremist infiltration, etc.), refugees have been found out to be known war criminals/jihadis. Take those things out of context, put some fear-mongering by politicians on top and there we have a bag of gunpowder with a lit fuse under it. The general population will be literally asking for war on 'the guilty party' after a few of these events.

Aside of the false pretence of them doing things in the name of Islam, is this not marked as an act of war. If so, we have all the power to wipe ISIS/IS/ISIL (delete as appropriate) from the map if they wished. Considering the past few months... this has to happen now. And I hate to say that people need to be killed but IS need to be. It's got to a stage where it needs to be sorted, now.

The UK is not fighting the Islamic State in Syria. France is the western european spearhead there.

Not so, the UK have been carrying out air strikes for longer than France, if I recall correctly. France began strikes in late September of this year. Of course, neither country have an official "on the ground" presence.

EDIT: While checking that I've read a number of "experts" saying the same as you; I'm simply not sure why...

The key Word here is "Syria". If you read your link the answer is there. Hollande announced the airstrikes there while the UK was still thinking about it. And as far as I know the UK remains in thinking status.

My key worry (whilst my thoughts are of course with the people of France and I feel physically sick reading about this) is that now that this has happened we are going to see a backlash across the world in the form of hate and racial attacks both from and against many different communities, simply because we are pretty crap human beings. ISIS coordinated these attacks to divide communities, not just kill innocent people, and despite the words of global leaders about a united front etc, the fact remains that many people WILL take advantage of this to further support their views on immigration, on religion, on other people, on anything that they can relate this too. It is going to send a ripple of mistrust around the world, and that is something we need to somehow get together to stop. They are trying to destroy us by breaking our communities as well as killing our friends and family. Maybe because in France the Charlie Hebdo attacks did not give them the desired effect and the French people pulled together despite their different faiths and backgrounds ISIS felt something more severe was needed. But I think that if we let ourselves become divided it is only going to play right into the hands of the retarded terrorists who are like the spawn of the devil.

...I feel fearful, and frustrated at the same time.

Fearful, for the survivors and innocent bystanders who are involved, and are about get involved in the future.
Frustrated, because there's literally nothing I can do to help the affected nor can I bring those responsible to justice.

I know this is in poor taste, but sometimes I wish I knew how to write Arabic, so I can troll those twitter accounts belonging to ISIS sympathizers and give them a piece of my mind. With lots of cuss words.

I mean, what can they do, report me to the mods?

Just got an alert from the Guardian saying that French president Francois Hollande is officially blaming Islamic State for the attacks, describing it as a "cowardly act" and an "act of war".

I'll add a link when I get the chance.

According to the French police there were 8 terrorists. 7 blew themselves up, and the 8 was shot.

This is exactly what they want you to do; getting angry at them just gives them more ammo to show to young Muslims that they are trying to recruit. The more they can show that "the West hates us" the easier it is to recruit people.

...Good thing then, I don't know Arabic.

However, I wouldn't write "I hate you Muslims", that'd be defeating the purpose of my imaginary ranting/trolling.
I'd go and pick apart their arguements, the way it's done here in "Do you believe in god" thread. I learnt from the very best, see.

@ECGadget ISIS is arguably real life version of an Antichrist. They try as best as they can, intentionally or unintentionally, to divert and twisting religious views into something that pretty much every separatists or rebel/hate groups, not just islamic groups, wanted to with religion as an easy scapegoat.

Thats why Muslims wanted to seeing ISIS destroyed more than other religions. What ISIS does is incredibly insulting and misleading to a (islam) community that otherwise not so different in everyday life as any other religion/community. Its really unfortunate, really.

My deepest condolences and feelings are with those who lost their lives, their family members and France in general. This is a very sad day for the population of France, the world and humanity. My words still can't quite describe how I feel.

Problem is, part of ISIS is in Europe already disguised as refugee.
Some are indeed refugees and need help, others are just infiltrated sons of ****s.
AND you also need to consider all those born in EU not directly linked with radical Islam but actually struggling to make a living. As you can see, some of these people will opt "to die in the name of Allah".

As soon as you strike them in Siria they'll reply with an excalation of terrorism.
The reckless EU immigration policy basically demanded to get this war IN our borders.

What can we do now? Fight. Not only militarily but politically.
Close the damn borders and redefine requirements that allow non EU people to live here.

Here we go.

I'm willing to bet that there are more ISIS sympathisers prepared to act who were born here, and do you think that ISIS terrorists needed to wait for mass immigration (with police and border supervision) to get here? How come there was so much terrorism in the UK before large-scale immigration?

Of the recent Islaamic attacks in the UK I seem to recall that all the perpetrators lived and worked here for many years, some in high-paying middle-class jobs. It's easy to try to draw a line between one obvious fact (immigration) and another (terrorism), that line doesn't stand up to much scrutiny though.

From the ISIS attacks in Australia most of the attackers are actually born in the country and they go out and do these things when they convert themselves to be apart of ISIS.

What's going on in Paris is awful. It's disgusting, vile and rancid. And it's happening across Syria and Iraq every every damn day. It is attacks like this which are the reason that so many people are attempting to flee. That there are duplicitous scumbags taking advantage of that should not take away from the humanitarian crisis.

It has to stop soon.

I will not deny that there is a viable possibility that ISIS are sneaking through under the sick pretence of being refugees, a totally dispicible act but then again there is no limits to the lowest of the low I guess.
However, I will not agree that those struggling to make a living are willing to die in Gods name, for the reason being is that no self conscious, intelligent Muslim (or human being that is) would go ahead and commit acts of a terrorist nature simply to make his/her voice heard amongst the masses. For a Muslim (and this belongs in the Islam thread so I am not going to go on a tangent here) this is against the very core of religion. For them to do that, and in the name of God is sickening at the very least.
ISIS have an advantage over us that unfortunately they will have until we beat them, and that is that we would never stoop to their level of immorality. We would never go suicide bombing in the middle of their territories. And we are compassionate humans for the most part, and as such we will help humans in need, as our various ethics and morals tell us. And personally I feel that we should not be closing our borders and stopping to help humanity, because that is giving in to these scum of the Earth.
But, we have to take a stand somehow, as a united world. Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu, Sikh, Bhuddist, Atheist, Agnostic or any other belief; we ALL need to stand together, put aside our misplaced hate for each other and understand that NONE of our core values allow is to even for a second justify ISIS or even show any support for it. If we can hold onto that faith and keep the trust in each other, then I firmly believe that we can beat ISIS.

@FrzGT indeed I agree with you. They are as low as the Nazis.

I was driving home last night as all of this was unfolding and only really had BBC Radio 5 Live as a companion. I kept having to switch it off.

For some reason the producers of BBC Radio 5 Live seemed to think that the way to respond to a terrorist event was not to report on it, but to abandon all normal programming and devote 100% of air time to nothing but discussion and speculation, feeding in half-truth reports without any fact-checking and, worst of all, occasionally cutting to speak to British people holed up in restaurants in Paris to ask them how scared they are.

It's a terrorist event. It's an event intended to cause terror. A national radio station is spreading fear and uncertainty and broadcasting, live, exactly how terrified people are.

Well done, you colossal squadron of nob-lords.

So, pretty much like CNN covered it.
