Should GT6 include cockpit view when 95% of players don't use it?

Never. Taking out the Cockpit is just dumb, that will lead to a loss in sales.. Fast. I love the Cockpit, it adds a great feeling of Immersion, getting rid of it will ruin the joys of running in the rain, or at night.. I love the glow of the tachs at night, can't get any better than that.

Meanwhile, GT5's cockpit crew are much more accurate about interior details. One thing I don't like about it though, is the brightness of some cockpits is too low. The only reason that I can shift manually in my NSX is because of the engine sound and some guesswork. I cannot see the redline of that car for most of the time. If GT6 (and probably GT6P) made the interior a bit brighter, it would be perfect. Also, I like the idea of cockpit view in a driving sim, so why ditch it when a less hardcore sim decides to do so? Cockpit view is used to make the car more interesting, the driving more realistic and the producer having one more reason to recommend this game. The only car that I hate driving with cockpit view when racing is the X1. I use chase cam for that because it is too fast round the corners. Otherwise, even though I don't use it very often (maybe because I drive Standard cars all the time), I would support the idea of cockpit view. Probably because it gives you a feeling that you are actually driving the car.

Also I completely agree with some of these statements. I really hope that they model the backlights on the Tach, because some of them are just plain impossible to see, and I hate having to listen to the engine to shift some times. And actually, the tach light statement can go towards all games with interiors.

I always use cockpit view, and would be really disappointed if they got rid of it. In fact I think the standard cars getting cockpit views was the best update the game has ever had.

My most enjoyable moments on GT5 were when I'm racing in the cockpit view with the HUD completely turned off.

Getting rid of this feature would kill most of the fun in GT6 to me.

Quality > Quantity. ;)

I think a poll is in order here, I for one use the cockpit view with the premium cars but not the standard... The fact they're poorly done puts me off believe it or not, so I use the bonnet (hood) view.

*note, even the bonnet view is ugly on the standard cars (aka gt4 ports) but its less noticeable

It will be awesome to have a Helmet Cam in which, depending on the visor, car type (tear offs with the open-wheelers) or helmet model we could see the inside part of the helmet, other illumination and, of course, feeling the G-Forces moving from one side to another in the turns and all that stuff. It would be crazy!

AKA GT4, GT3 & GTPSP ports:sly:

Using that logic GT1-4 would never have been as popular as they didn't have cockpit views at all.

As GT5 went too much of a quality route and left out Quantity as a result.

Got to strike and equal balance which GT1-4 had.

Also with the way cockpit view looks in GT5 get rid of that it felt weird I've played other games that have done it better than that.

Hardly the same. Cockpit view has become the norm nowadays.

Forget Grid 2 in that comment though lol.

It has, but does it make it a deal breaker in a what is a bad/good/great game?

I've played a few games that had no cockpit that were better than the ones that did.

Yes, for me it would.

Well that just sucks for you cause it means sometimes you miss out on better games.

@ Spaghetti

Well again that just sucks for them cause you miss out on better experiences GT5 for all the stuff it did include just wasn't a great game cockpit or not.

I think his point is that there not better because they lack cockpit view.

If your happy without that view then I would not expect you to understand.

Equally the lack of 3d doesn't bother me the slightest in current games.
People with 3d tvs may feel different about that.

I'm not saying I'm happy without the view I just felt people tend to be extreme like "I won't by this game if it doesn't have A, B, C, or D." I'm just sitting here SMH because I feel like that's ridiculous.

Your in the majority, that's all. The 95%.
It's only the minority that feel like this.

Personally I could go with hood view too. But no bumper cam for me sorry. Or roof view or chase cam.

Hey, cars will be done fast if cockpit isn't included. Hahaha!

Your onto something there.
I could go without the rear view. Although I would miss it. PD go the extra mile to model the rear view internally and personally I like it. Not many other titles do this. +1 PD.

If it meant speeding up the process I could live without but would miss it.

It isn't just a minor aspect for a lot of people, for me it really is a gamechanging feature and I can't imagine a future GT-game without it anymore.
I wish for a lot of relatively trivial things in GT6, I also can do without a lot of those, cockpit view ain't just another trivial option and if they decided not to bother including it anymore (which they ain't) then I'm not bothering buying a GT-title but will start to look elsewhere.
In the same way a lot of people would instantly ditch GT if online wasn't offered anymore.
Yes, previous GT-games didn't include both and were good games for that time, in the same way this cellphone below was once a good phone no doubt.

Yes, I recently read here that Forza for example doesn't include it which surprised me to be honest (are the left/right sides modelled though?).
I have to agree that I perhaps could do without the rear view (even though like you I'd really miss it) since on some cars without a rear window it already isn't available and you get used to that instantly.

Agreed. I too like the rear view, but somewhat will miss it if its gone for good. The mirrors should have the same thing if possible imo. :dopey:

I only play in cockpit, and if it were missing I quite simply wouldn't enjoy the game, at all. It adds a better sense of immersion. Basically all proper simulators have cockpit view, and there is a reason for that.

We'll just have to agree to disagree for the record I do like cockpit views just not what GT5 gave us I've played with better that feels like a cockpit view should even if it was an arcade racer.

The people that leave because GT doesn't have online anymore let them it didn't stop some 60 mil from enjoying the first 4 and those didn't have any ounce of online gameplay in them. This is pretty much what I mean people going to extremes over little stuff.

GT5 suffered greatly because the lost balance between Quality and Quantity don't get me wrong I like the new stuff GT tired to bring out, but trying to do tooooo much at once did GT5 in I could have done without Nascar if I knew Rallying Would Suffer same as some other stuff.

That sucks about the Grid thing. Sure 95% don't use cockpit, but there is still 5% that do. I'm a part of that that 5%. I would be pretty shocked to not see any type of cockpit view in the game.
