Should GT6 include cockpit view when 95% of players don't use it?

Just because not as many people use cockpit view doesn't mean you should entirely abandon it. This goes back to trying to please as many people as possible. Using the cockpit view is a choice; not a requirement. When it comes to sim racing fans, you know you have the hardcore sim racing set who think behind the wheel is the ONLY way to enjoy racing. Some people feel a cockpit view is the best way to feel connected to a certain car. So if you get rid of cockpit views, you're slapping the faces of a particular set of dedicated racing game fans.

Definitely keep the cockpit view even if you don't use it. At least know it's there for you to enjoy and that it works. Also, don't discredit the hardcore sim types who want the best-possible experience a game like a Gran Turismo can provide.

Maybe the 95% thing is only for the grid series, because there is NO WAY that is true for GT Series and the majority of people who I know play with the cockpit view, so yes, it should DEFINITELY Be included in GT6:idea:

My view is that if they going to call it a simulator, cockpit view should be the only choice.
Cockpit view is the only way to eaven come close to the right driving experience, that's my opinion anyway.

That right there.....90% Correct (10% is it should have other views but have the option to turn them off, Permanent Cockpit veiw)

Agree, but todays cockpit view in GT5 isnt good enough. If i had 3 tv solution then id never play it in any other way.
Hopefully they will give us better cockpitview so it actullay is the first choice we want to have.

I don't really care which viewpoint is used by my opponents (even though personally I can't really understand anyone not using it, and yes I've heard all the arguments why they don't), even when I use cockpit view only (in Premium cars), as long as people race fair and clean and finding them is often hard enough so I don't think I'll use an enforced cockpit view option when available.

The only real advantage of everyone using cockpit view perhaps is that everyone is also aware of its visual limitations in some circumstances and might more readily accept or understand someone making a mistake due to that as it could happen to them as well which if using another viewpoint giving another, well, view of the whole situation could lead to misunderstandings.

Isn't more practical to have a cockpit view when you only have 3 TVs? While I applaud PD for having the feature in the first place, but unless you are willing to spend the cash to run a 3 TV/PS3 set up, having a cockpit view is absolutely next to useless.

Codemasters may not have had it in their racer, so that is why they are scrapping it.

Untrue. Many race with one TV and cockpit view.
Well I do and it's not useless.

Codemasters racer GRID had cockpit view. And I can think of 2 points already of why cockpit view isn't useless
1. It's realistic like a simulator should be.
2. It can be either more helpful or challenging for me and many others in races.

Cockpit view is fine with one TV. Many people only use in car view and do quit well thanks. In my opinion, the people who don't use it, can't! I have used in car view only since prologue. I have zero problems with it. It works great.:)

Where are real cars driven from? The roof? Bumper? :dunce:

Haha, I see a lot of people are questioning the validity of this thread, but I meant for it just to be a kind of loosely debated, heavily theoretical thread. I'm not questioning wether or not Cockpits should be in GT6 (I'm sure they will be) but I was just curious to see how the code masters statistic would resonate with the GTP community and GT6's development. With that said, keep the debates raging! :)

Deceptive title. Are you talking about tennis players?

Cockpit view is as important as all the other views in both A and B Spec. GT aspires to be a simulator. You can simulate riding in the passenger as well as rear seats in many of the cars.
On the roof, too, if one wishes.

Kind of hard to call it a "driving simulator" if you don't have cockpit view.

GT5 is the only one in the series that did have cockpits. I wished for cockpits in gt ever since I played need for speed on 3do.

100% of cars in the game (no matter their class/status) should have the cockpit view in my opinion. Being an all inclusive "driving" simulator, something like that is exactly what car lovers want.

We also want to customize our cars more - just sayin'.

I think with race cars they should

Not with the cars what people don't even use

I don't use it anyway, I hate it in iRacing and its the only reason I like GT more than iRacing!

With that statistic in mind, the interior shouldnt be that much upgraded if at all from the premium interiors of gt5. If there will still be stabdards, give them the same level of interior as, say, the Caterham or the Prowler.

There should still be interior views becxause if that becomes absent then the game could quite possibly become inferior to Gt5 in some sort of way.

For a game such as GRID I don't think cockpit view is a necessity, since the racing is more important than the cars. In a game like Gran Turismo however, where the history and detail of each car is as important as the racing itself, the disposing of cockpit view would receive massive backlash. So GT6 should and probably will include cockpit view.

this! 👍

There are about 50 cars that people dont use, most of them are similar standard models or some small family FF cheap cars in pink, or something like that! :) not many of those, most of them have historical value!

PS. I think in GT6 cars which people dont use will not be included, but amount of them is very small.. like if Honda Prelude will not be included in GT6, I be pissed off, because I own it (real world) and I love to use it in GT5! Good car in real life, not so good in GT5 compered to other supercars! but its a fun to drive on, 2 door sports saloon with V-tec (which has just kicked in!) :D I would love to drive it with cockpit view!

PS2. :) They just cant get rid of those cars, if GT keep only supercars and favorites then GT would become not GT anymore, its about fun driving any kind of cars in GT, and I just cant forget all those crazy cars people pick in GT5 online, some of them just puts a smile on your face even if its slow and ugly or something..

interior views for everyone!!!! :)

GRID 2 is ditching cockpit view, because according to Codemaster's research, 95% of players don't use it

Now the real question, how many people did they actually research? Because if its really only %5 of people who use it, than I've played online with everyone in that statistic, me personally, I think its codemasters lame excuse to get the game out quicker so they can make another Ken Block's Dirt.

*Ding ding ding ding ding ding* +1000 :D:tup: Lazy 🤬 Codemasters, and they talked about GT5... Are they ever in for it.

What I find hilarious is the posters who claim if GT6 did away with the cockpit view there would be a mutiny, no one would play it, it wouldn't be a true sim etc.

So what was you opinion on GT5?

Polyphony left the cockpit view out of 80% of that game......

But what you don't understand is that it was in the game, not fully but it was still there, most (if not) ALL racing sims now have cockpit views, and for PD to remove the viewpoint would be a step back.

But it would still be a sim. I mean like i have said before. I race and drift on GT5 with a wheel. I like the cockpit view but when racing and drifting i couldn't get over seeing two steering wheels. So i use hood view seems to be a better simulation feel for me. Plus they need to get rid of the 200 degrees of rotation on the cockpit camera before i even really care. They could make a option to remove the steering wheel in the cockpit camera.
