Should PD allow this activity in GT5?

No, you clearly said they have to. "Have to" and "should" are quite different...

This is what this thread has come to?...lol.

Clearly the have let the modding slide. If they thought it was important enough, they would have put someone on rewriting some code and prevented hybrids from being online at all. At this point it looks as though they are letting the organized racing, open lobbies and private lounges do as they please. They just don't want to see it in their "official" stuff. To me that's a back of the hand "we know you're doing it, but we'll turn a blind eye, just don't show up on the radar" kind of deal.

Yes, they have let it slide, to an extent, but I dont think its the last we'll hear from PD about it. Maybe they are rewriting code back at their offices, who knows. I honestly dont think this will be the end of it.

If any of these companies thought this type of swapping, or "hybriding" if you will, hurt their company image in any way, shape, or form, they would have sued the tits off Ryan (along with over half the entrants in any given FD event) a long time ago. However, in spite of the swapping, they know that at the end of the day, Ryan is providing good publicity for all three companies. It comes back to the old saying "There's no such thing as bad press". Perhaps I'm assuming too much, but if these vehicle manufacturers are OK with people doing swaps in real life, I have a hard time imagining they would have a problem with it happening in the virtual world.

That said, if there's a way to make a dime by either allowing or disallowing these actions in the virtual world, then I absolutely see car companies taking a vested interest. But if it's simply a matter of "protecting the company image", I don't see the car manufacturers giving a 🤬

Do you think Chevrolet would have specified that the 2014 Corvette should have no tuning options available in GT5?

Why would they do that?

I have 3500 you tube subscribers. I'm quite smart and the thread is labelled SHOULD THEY let it slide. And actually the banning notice is just a threat. That's it and people who get banned would have got banned anyway.

I'll use the example of Ryan Tuerk. For those who don't know, Ryan is one of the more popular drivers on the North American Formula D circuit. Last year, his competition car was a Nissan S14 Silvia powered by a Chevy LS1, and his current street car is a Nissan 180SX powered by a Toyota 1JZ. Both of these cars are very much in the public eye, so it's not as though Ryan is some random Joe-Blow hiding in anonymity from the likes of Nissan, Chevy, and Toyota.

When someone buys a car in the real world they can do what they like with it, the companies are powerless to stop them. Who says they're happy with all the swaps in real life? They might not like them but they can't stop them.

In a game however, when they license their cars they can tell the company what they want to do with them. You might not like them but the cars are their intellectual property, they can do with them what they like.

Well in a announcement from Chevrolet about the new Corvette they said "We want people to be able to drive the test car and the final concept as they are. Also enjoy and get a better perspective on what the car looks and feels like. So we teamed up with the makers of GT to offer this"

Probably not exactly wording but you get the point.

But either way. I think being that they have a way of blocking you from getting online with a hacked save data. But if they cared about it in every aspect they would apply this for every aspect.

Which it has been proven that they haven't banned people from every aspect...

Just yesterday this guy was banned. And it seems when you get rid of your hacked save data your are fine. Pretty much he was in a race lobby. And someone reported the people in the room resulting in this.

HondaJunkie
well i got banned today for using hacked cars but to bad im thick headed and exploited my gave save and now im back on

HondaJunkie
yeah happened to a friend that doest go online today as well he got a hacked car from another friend of mine and got banned

HondaJunkie
Lucky for me i caught it right when it happend and had my origial save still on my cpu. other wise i would have been screewed

So once again it seems as long as you are not messing with online play (as in messing with others online lobbies)

Fail to see what you're getting at here. Yes, the thread is labelled "Should they" but you said they "have to". Why do they have to? Simply because we like them? Whether some of us like them or not, doesnt mean they have to. They can do whatever they want. Just because you have 3,500 youtube subs doesnt mean you have power to say what they have to do.

You were implying I wasn't smart so I proved to you I wasn't and I don't care if you fail to get it. Most people would get it.

It was a opinion. I mean come on guys. Do we really have to say in my opinion in every post? It is obvious that it was his opinion.

I love my hacked cars and many other people love theirs too.

That's all ok. But the point is some other people don't like if you drive with your hacked car in another room. So I think the guys who like to hack should stay in their rooms or stay in rooms in that the host say it's ok to drive with hacked cars. I think we don't make other people angry.

Hope you understand that I mean it's ok to hack but only when the other drivers think it'S okay too...

Gauging how smart one is based on youtube subs... Umm... Right...

How was it obvious that it was an opinion?

BTW, when you add all the upgrades and tune it, it's a damn nice handling car. Tons of torque, but not enough horsepower at 550. The LFA still walks away in the straights :)

Totally agree.

You can't upgrade it though apart from racing tyres and chassis upgrade

He said "add all the upgrades". Didnt specify which method he used to add it all on...

Pretty sure he was talking about hybriding to upgrade it.

I don't see the point in hacking one of these since it will have 800 hp and then you will have to upgrade it to 4000hp unless you do an engine swap but that defeats the point of it given that it will no longer be a muscle car when it has a V12 in it.

What?

I would never put a 1000HP in one of my cars anyway. 4000hp is completely pointless. In every aspect. Never would do that

Only thing I was going to do was trying to put a C6 suspension and transmission and LSD in it.

But i do once in a while use the power multiplier. But if you do the mathematical equation to get the HP you want you will never go ridiculous on the power.

Like i am planning on building a Mugan S2K with about maybe 600HP maybe. And basically I will just use the multiplier to get the closest to the HP I want. Usually it will give or take about 10-20HP. If i get too much I will actually add weight.

This is what I did with my V6 Turbo F1. Had 400hp, fiddled with the multiplier until the power was at 690hp. Only times I'll touch the multiplier, just gets too ridiculous getting over 1000hp...

Agreed.

I mean i love the Mugan S2K it is a little under powered but it is a great car. So i am making another one with better HP.

I mean i figured out the mathematical equation for figuring out what HP you get. You want me to PM it to you?
