Should PD have let the modding slide? ... OP Updated.

Should PD allow this activity in GT5?

Hei
Like I told you, proper suspension and tires. I can get wheel spin out of a stock focus :sly:

Stock Fiesta :sly: Anything will wheelspin if you try, just how much depends on power, tyres and suspension...

Search for Central circuit and Sendai drag meet :) Lots of Nitto fitted street drag car with over 700HP to 1000+HP running from 10s to low 9s and even high 8s.

Example :

I can and have from my fiance's 2008 SE Auto Focus :sly:. I have even done it in my 92 D21 SE-V6(basically an NA Z31 in a truck body lol). My favorite was the 76 Winebago with a mopar 360 nuetral dropped from the rev limiter lmao. Me and my Best friend should have videoed some of the 🤬 we do

Finally! +1.

I can see a Ariel Atom Keeping up with a Venom but remember the Venom hasn't been tested on any race tracks. Just the Runway for a top speed run.

Even an AWD can have wheel spin on Acceleration. I wish I still had the video, but, an Eclipse GSX with roughly 400hp can spin all four tires from a standing start, granted it won't hold the spin nearly as long as a FR would but even with AWD Wheel Spin is an issue once you hit a certain HP. Not, to mention wheel spin doesn't necessarily require 2 or more wheels, even one tire slipping can be detrimental to handling and acceleration to the point of causing loss of control in a corner exit. Yes, with proper tuning a good balance is achievable but seriously how many people have succesfully made a car have Perfectly nuetral handling and no wheelspin without using AIDS. Not to disrespect the many tuners here but, no matter what you do there is always a tradeoff for any tweak you make./semi ranty speech. As for the fuel, Jerrycan or not you still gotta stop to refuel. :sly:

Here's something close.

This is the world's fastest GMC Syclone AWD drag car...

This is the one thst did a 8.76 quarter mile.

But Hei is right. With the right suspension/LSD/transmission you can control a 1000HP (AWD/FR/MR/RR/FF drive trains)

Underground Racing Lambo's are relatively reliable from what I have seen, they sure do lack low down traction a lot of the time - but when they hook up, they absolutely fly, leaving pretty much anything in the dust.

Any of you familiar with Severn Valley Motorsport? They have a promo GTR called "The Hulk" - that thing is pushing at least 1200hp I am told and it is meant to be reliable.

What I am trying to say is, big HP is possible and realistic - GT can cater for this via people making hybrids or adding more extensive tuning stages into GT6

I'm pretty sure a tuner could turn a civic into a track monster if given the right equipment to tune the car. I don't see how only production cars like the Venom GT, SSC, Veyron are entitled to have 1,000s of horses and not tuned cars.

There are plenty heavy moded cars that can handle pretty well on tracks.

Speedhunter's Scion TC 1200HP.. forgot the drivers name.

Why did the oxymoron cross the road?

He was playing Realistic Hybrid Simulator.

I guess you aren't a fan of car culture.

If hybrids are wrong, tell it to the ghost of Carroll Shelby. You see, there was once this little British car called the AC Ace that had a tiny little 2 liter inline 6. Carroll decided that HYBRIDS ARE COOL and he shoved a mustang motor into it (Cobra 289), Then he thought, I'll shove an F150 truck motor into it!! (Cobra 427)

What about the Viper? It's V10 is a truck engine too. They design an engine to go into the 3/4 ton truck, then swapped the truck body with the body of a sports car, then swapped back to the body of a 1/2 ton truck.

Part swapping is integral top car culture, from moonshine runners to modern day tuners and everything in between. Just because Polyphony stopped at 1000 car files, doesn't mean it's wrong it make more.

Wrong, when you buy the game you agree to not change or alter any part of the software, ANY PART OF IT. If breaking an agreement isn't wrong then I don't want to be right.

Your statement and PD statement won't change others action. Just letting you know.

He was more arguing the fact that part swaps aren't necessarily unrealistic, which is a fair point.

Why? Makes a reasonable discussion. Keep in mind I am only talking about realistic swaps ok.

Engine swaps should have been in the game. Gamers have been wanting it in for years now. Many other games have it. All hybriders are doing is making the game do it.

So besides the point of it being against the TOS would you do it? Sure you would you can't even deny it. Or if you knew for sure you wouldn't get in trouble for doing this would you do it? Yeah you would.

The main thing I see is a lot of people either just have hate toward the hybrids because they probably have only seen the people who cheat/make unrealistic ones. Also because yes technically it is against the online TOS.

But besides the unrealistic ones and being against the online TOS I think pretty much everyone would be doing some kind of hybridding

Get what i mean bro?

I know but to dig deeper. Its a 2 year old game, PD is working on GT6 as we speak and why should they care and waste time on a old game if they could be making 6 with better tuning options?

The difference is, Carroll Shelby did not edit save files. He did not break an agreement relating to intellectual property.

GT5 is a driving simulator, not a car culture simulator.

Technically, you don't break any agreements until you try to sell it or until you go online.

Ok, it's not in the game for a reason. I don't know that reason. But still.

Also it's not your software your messing with. You only own the disk, what's on it belongs to PD. of you change anything on it, then you break the TOS, you can't just say, "we'll let's pretend there not there". They are, and if you break them, then they hold the right to suspend any services they have for you.

It's like saying, "we'll if it wasn't illegal to steal TV's from the shop everyone would be doing it." The fact is there is a law stopping people doing it.

You can't break an agreement with someone and the bitch because they stopped giving you stuff.

Is anyone else having a problem logging in PSN. And no not GT5, PSN in general. I can't see no messages and I need to sign in for something.

nealcropper
No I'm online now. Have you been hybriding by any chance? Lol.

Actually a lot of people are having the same problem look around forms. And I don't hybrid I simply receive them from good people.

Well it isn't illegal. That's a fact. There isn't lawful action for this so it isn't illegal.

Breaking the TOS offline (no action can be done that's that because the TOS does not apply to you).

Also all you are doing is the same thing as when in Forza you do engine swaps like i said you are manually doing it.
I respect your opinion but just wanting to let you know it is not illegal.

I haven't been online yet today. Been working here at home.
But the PSN is down 18003457669 Sony's number says it.

Has nothing to do with it

If you receive and use, I would expect to have my GT5 blocked from PD's servers.

Seriously though, I'm online on BO2. All is good here.

@lock2lock, yeah I know it's not illegal mate, it was just a comparison. No worries, nice chatting.

Read my post above it has nothing to do with hybriding. I just called Sony to see what's up

I know, I know.

All good bro.

Anyway. I was thinking the other day. How long has it been that these cars have been around on this type of scale now? I know they have always been around but not like this.

I mean with how long they have been here now. I give it maybe another three to four weeks. If it is not patched by then I am pretty certain that nothing will happen.

GT5 is a driving simulator, not a car culture simulator.

In several interviews, Kaz has explicitly stated that one of his goals for the GT series is to creat a game that encompasses all aspects of car culture. He wants Gran Turismo to be more than "just another driving/racing sim/game".

I fully understand your point about Carol Shelby...but here's my problem with your arguement.

Why is it ok (in fact today, it's something that is celebrated) to put a Ford 427 in an AC Cobra....but it is NOT OK to put a digital Ford 427 in a digital AC Cobra.

Why is it ok for Ryan Tuerk to put a Toyota 1JZ in his Nissan 180SX, but it is considered illegal for me to do the same thing in the virtual world?

I think perhaps I am diving into a larger discussion of the morality of intellectual property laws, which is slightly off topic....but I think we as a society have a serious problem if we have reached a point where it is legal to do something in the real world, but it is illegal to do the same thing in the virtual world.

I think this ties into the bigger conversation about whether or not things like intellectual property laws, copyright laws, and trademark laws have gotten out of control.
- is it right that Apple can sue Samsung because they claim the rights to a certain generic shape (rectangle with round corners)?
- is it right that McDonald's can own the rights to a specific shade of yellow?
