I think the poll and the responses speak for themselves.

A big NO all the way.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a longer time period between releases of Gran Turismo games now that DLC is a viable option. If they heavily support GT5 with DLC throughout the years following the release of the game, i don't think people will be in much of a rush for the next game in the franchise.

There is a lot of options they have with DLC, releasing concept packs (such as GT3Concept except as an add on to GT5, based around motor shows etc), tracks from around the globe, more licensed motor sports, the list goes on really. Proper support via the Store DLC channel can give the product a much longer shelf life, making the wait for the next game a lot easier.
Really the only reason to release a new title would be a major overhaul in physics/graphics that couldn't be done via an update. Hence why, if Sony/PD are planning of fully supporting GT5 via DLC, it wouldn't be too far fetched to see GT5 be the ONLY Full GT release that the PS3 gets.

Annual is a bit much, though I'd be happy to see new games every 2 years. People say NFS series is crap because they try to put a new game out each year, I completely disagree. The NFS series is crap because they are schizophrenic about the game, they dont know what they are trying to be and who they are trying to please. One game will be arcade tuner style, then open world, then wanna-be sim, then full fledged sim. Even if people did enjoy one game, they wont enjoy the next because they keep changing style.

Since GT is a sim, will always be a sim and isn't trying to completely change its style, I dont see why they can't make more regular releases. Every new iteration can only add so many new things, cockpit views, "refreshed" physics, new cars, new tracks, skid marks, reverse lights, improved graphics. These aren't things that require complete 5 year remakes unless you try to do them all at once. Given that GT isn't really CHANGING at all, I can't see why they couldn't do more regular releases with less content. That'd make me more happy since I'd have a game that I can always pick up and play, instead of playing a game to boredom then waiting 4 years until the next one.

Though yearly releases is a bit much, I'd be happy with every 2 years.

Good question, but I would rather PD make and release a GT title "when its perfect".

Anyhow I would like to see PD concentrate on more stuff than just GT like making Tourist Trophy their second pillar because the original game showed so much potential especially since it got marred by the PS2 technical limitations.

In the end I see PD as being the pixar of video games and being so I would like to see them keep up that pixar-like quality image.

Hell no!

GT releases are big and I need time. Even GT4 I haven't got through all I wished to do (I have all golds 100% but only tested half the cars). Obviously yearly releases would be smaller but I don't like it like that.

I don't want it to got they way of NFS, thanks.

A small team works on an annual update with new cars and tracks, the core of Yamauchi team works 4 years on the new GT6.

It's a racing simulator, we should be happy with more tracks and cars with the same game engine... just to keep the experience updated and less suffering waiting the new version. :-)

Seems like a good idea to me. Maybe it will even stop the release date topics for GT6 for a large amount, because people will still be playing GT5

I voted to keep it the way it is, annual releases would tarnish the GT brand and quality we expect from a GT game.

It would be nice if PD released a little bit of expansion content in between GT5 and GT6 though. I'd be surprised if there was no DLC at all for GT5.

This guy talks alot of sense.👍

if Gran Turismo was released annually, we would just have another Forza series. We don't need another Forza series. Polyphony Digital should take their time so the quality of GT continues.

Well, I think keeping to one title is good. It keeps the GT community together as well. With one good solid title, it'll be great, as that everyone will be in the same version.

Games which gets released every year, or often, I personally find it hard to keep up. Like COD, NFS. I will find it hard to invest my time in it, as each year, I'll need to 'reboot' and learn the changes to the game (not that this will really apply to a driving simulator, apart from being more realistic).

Look at games like Diablo 2, Starcraft, it lasted almost forever... And that there's still a community behind it. I hope that with this, GT5 will be one which will have a tight community of users as well. So, new drivers and old drivers can still come together. it wouldn't matter when you get your hands on GT5, that there will still be the veterns who will help us get into the game.

Imagine the OMG moment we are all going to have when we first play gt5!!!
I will have to have about a hour of rest to comprehend how good the game is........

I cant wait for gt5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was released yearly this anticipation would die and GT would become boring.

They could release one full game and then offer yearly updates with extra cars and tracks until they made the next game on the PS4.

yeah, i think they will update the game regularly.

But not create a new game every year.

I think Kaz's next big decision he must make is whether to follow with updates for the next few years or start creating gt6 for the ps3?

GT is an automotive encyclopedia, not some sports game that needs to be updated every year.

Yes & No

No, it's not a sports game and we don't need a new one every year.
Yes, yearly updates would be nice to add more cars/tracks via DLC.
