Shoulda listened. Going back. New plan formulated but it isn't quite as elegant. But it should at least work.

HDMI coupler

and a funky looking audio switch.
What are you trying to achieve?

I went to Kinokuniya/Uwajimaya in Seattle today. I got four different flavors of Kit Kats: White Chocolate, Cheesecake, Banana Caramel, and Rich Matcha. I got a cute little charm for my iPad Touch, and a fashion art book by 40 different artists.

It's kind of a mess but...

I have a computer monitor that doesn't have an HDMI input so I have an HDMI to DVI cable that's working great for my desktop.

But now I want to add a TiVo Mini that is also HDMI so I bought the HDMI switch box but the box doesn't work with the HDMI to DVI cable. So I'm going less elegant and simply using a coupler that I'll have to manually switch. Still better than crawling under the desk.

To complicate things further, I have one set of desktop speakers that I want to use for both the desktop and TiVo. If the switch box would have worked, it had a 3.5mm jack that the speakers would connect to but since it didn't, the 4 in/4 out switcher should do the trick.

Like I said - I should have just left the TV where it was. It had 2 HDMI inputs and a headphone jack output. Would have been simple, but that's too easy.

Had a couple of pairs of those during my teens. I preferred those brown ones. My brother mostly used the black, glossy ones. We'd sometimes switch between us.

Almost a decade using them. Good times.
These will be my second pair. The first are still going strong from 2015 but look a little rough now so this new pair will be my formal option.

Done! I did it, I don't want to buy any expensive electronics for a while.

I gave up and went to Gamestop as a powerup rewards member to get this and well; I could only get it as a bundle. To be fair, I probably would've bought a 2nd PS5 contoller eventually and headphones. I'll probably sell the games though, I don't play Baseball games and the 2nd game is Gran Turismo 7; which I already have.

Nice. You will love GT7 on PS5!

Yesterday was New Comic Book Day.

I picked up these last Friday. This series came out about five years ago. While all three volumes are out of print, volume 1 can no longer be found in stores. I had two choices. Pay a minimum of $60 on eBay or Amazon, or spend $8 for the digital version on Comixology. Not a hard decision. I bought the physical versions of volumes 2 and 3 since those are still easily found in stores. And who knows, maybe I’ll find a clean used copy of volume 1 in a store some time.

I buy Clipper lighters because they work, they’re refillable and made in Spain.

Not this one, however. When, after an hour of use it starts getting temperamental I check the brand marking: made in PRC. Thins thing take at least 10 sparks before ignition and the bloody thing is full of fuel.

Is there nothing the Chinese haven’t got their hands on?

Found a bunch of stuff at my local Habitat for Humanity store a couple weeks ago. Initially thought I'd be leaving with the gloves and blu-rays, but the showcase near the checkouts had a few more things in store.

Someone must've been into their Square RPGs. The Gamecube games came from Ebay and the PS3 version of Carbon is from Half Price Books; I've now got a full set of 6th-gen console NFS releases, and continuing to whittle away at 7th-gen stuff.

Also bought this Lego Architecture set. Not really a big Lego head or anything (haven't touched them since I was a kid, and even then never played with them much), but the Tokyo skyline kit spoke to me enough to pull the trigger.

It actually ended up being really enjoyable evening of building (besides the tendinitis in my right hand), and it convinced me to go back and pick up the Singapore kit. If I can figure out some space, I'd also like to add the Paris and London sets eventually.

You're telling me I supposedly have over $100 in Final Fantasy games in my basement? :odd:

My Chromebook died so on a whim I went to Best Buy and they had an open box Samsung Galaxy S8 for $450, so I picked that up along with a book cover keyboard. I originally was going to get a Surface, but only one of the tablets isn't gigantic and you have to buy the stylus separately. The S8 at least came with the S-Pen so I'm good there. I just need to wipe it of all that Samsung crap that comes on it.

It went to a good cause...or at least that's how I rationalized it anyway . But if you need the cash just find your nearest fat dork wearing a "Retro Gamer" shirt with an NES controller on it; I'm sure they'd happily pay.

A friend and fellow Japanese Popular Visual Culture Enthusiast (okay, anime nerd), alerted my to the existence of this new manga about record collectors. We’re both huge music fans, too, so it was right in both our wheelhouses. Downside, he lives in Houston. Upside I live a couple miles outside Seattle where there is a Kinokuniya book store. So last week I ordered two of them. They came in and I picked them up today. I will be mailing him his copy in a couple days.

I normally don't buy action figures, but I've been grabbing some of the Gundam figures that have been showing up at Walmart/Target lately. Always been a fan of the Halo series, but never that deep into the lore with books, comics, etc. Finally caved and bought a Master Chief figure from "Wicked Cool Toys" from Halo Infinite (I think?) Pretty decent quality for $21, not sure I'd really get any other sort of Halo figurine.
