^ You said you were going with the 5770s.

I know, I know. :P

After reading myself to sleep a few times and a bunch of other conversationalist-oriented happenings I settled on this after having 1. lost that eBay auction (POS). 2. Several people telling me that for what I'm after the 5770 just isn't worth it; if I could afford a 5970 I'd swap that up quick-fast. 3. I'll be future-proofed in the event I'm not too happy with what Southern Islands brings to the table.

Cute guy. Dating him isn't really a purchase though.

and a scalpel, so if you're missing a vital organ it may have been me.

Probably not though.

Greetings, Starfighter.

My movie addiction knows no end. But hey, Last Starfighter was only $9.99.

And the gloves because blood thinner + kitchen accidents = BAD.

Just bought reserved my first road bike, i'm picking it up and paying tomorrow. Came with £100 off and there's an extra 20% off online on top of that! Halfrauds FTW! :P

^ Nice. As a Halfords bike customer I recommend you check every nut and bolt is tight. The pedal on my wife's bike came off wrecking the crank (which they replaced) and when I pointed out the brake calliper bolts on my bike weren't even finger tight they said they don't check them :ouch: :dunce:

Carrera's are good bikes though so you won't be disappointed 👍

Certainly will 👍, i've heard loads of horror stories regarding the fitting and building of things by staff. If anything is wrong, there'll be hell to pay!! :dopey:

It's pot luck whether the staff in your store are competent and give a damn or know sod all about bikes and couldn't care less what state it goes out in. The Carrera, Boardman and Voodoo bikes are very good value for money though so it's still worth buying from them as long as you're aware they may have been assembled by a shelf stacker. Also in case you not sure about sure about any spannering the Park Tools repair guides are very good.

Halfords are awful....Carrera's are great for the money but as said, build it yourself because the monkeys at halfrauds haven't a clue!

I bought a cheap (but not Apollo cheap) Raleigh bike from there a while ago, was put together perfectly, just a shame I could only keep the bike outside and can't get the damn Bottom bracket loose to replace it!

There's a statistic (I think) that 80% of dissatisfied customers will pass on their experience but only 20% of satisfied customers will tell anyone so there will many people like yourself who've had good service from Halfords but they don't shout about it therefore they're probably not as bad as people think.

Also did you know dogs can't look up!

Neal,
are you on Bikeradar by any chance?

I'm not a member there but I do look at the site quite often, am I spouting the rubbish they usually come out with

I was perfectly happy with my Halfords. They seemed to know what they were doing. :P

There is actually a marketing formula along those lines. Basically, a dissatisfied customer will tell 5 people about their experience and they will each tell five what they heard, and those will tell someone, roughly 1 unsatisfied customer = 100+ lost customers. But one satisfied customer tells only 2 and they each tell two and they tell two, roughly 1 satisfied customer = 10 new customer.

I don't know how much that is based on fact, but it is used often to explain why bad customer service is unacceptable from a business standpoint.

I know. I'm sure I even said that in some PS3 failure debate in the Announcements thread!
I just felt like winding Neal up!

Is it still fun when it's so easy ;)

Granted, not ALL halfords are bad.
I'm sure many customers love them and good for them, pat on the back.
HOWEVER, literally every, single, time, I have been into halfords to purchase something (3 times) something has gone wrong, such as faulty item, poorly assembled bike, and the wrong alloy wheels (even though reg was provided)

That is why I hate halfords.

Ha! You're plan to make my screen rotate failed! It doesn't work on my PC :(
The ones at school are an altogether different story though...

Doesn't really count if it was the same Halfords though...
