Well...I guess there's only one way to find out lol. There are some pretty quick guys in my group so nothing is guaranteed.

Hey everyone wants to practice a bit, please feel free to send me a friend request 👍 as I found out it's quite boring to race the TT all alone!

<<< PSN ID: GTP_GSTAR74

PS: I think it would be good to get to know each other a little bit better before the 'real' racing.

LOL just seen the group I'm in lol only the 2 fastest people to race against lapping over a second a lap faster than me on the small track haha, wish I put in a slower time now lol but hopefully I can learn some lines at least lol

Organise a time and I'll be there?

@ GTP_Delfino - AU (PAL)(D5S) and TwoBigPaws - AU (PAL)(D4B) please can you add me on PSN since i cannot find your GTPlanet tags and we need to make a time and date for our races anyway which would be much easier to do on PSN ( at least for me ).
Thanks in Advance. 👍

Don't worry mate - I'm in the group with you! Should be fun. At least we're closely matched on paper.

Will do Hybrid 👍 .. im on a strict schedule this month and havent had time for GT over the last 2 weeks, nor will i this week, but will be keen to race either next monday or tuesday.

Jack and Cashwars, guys would it be against the spirit of the competition and the feel you're looking for if people started posting some practice laptimes from Suzuka in their tuned Audi TTs?

Would you guys prefer if people just prepared in private and then just let it all rip on raceday and see what happens?

All the best

I dont see why not! In F1 practice the other teams can see how the others cars / drivers are doing ahead of the big race!

Smashing :)

I'll happily get the ball rolling and condemn myself to a few laughs! I managed a 2'17.880 in free run practice. Strangely, in a race situation with a toe, I wasn't able to go any faster.

I'm using the standard DC tune with no modifications as yet.

I also ended up in a race with another GTPer obviously practising in his Audi TT for the event, and boy...this is gonna be close! The TT has little grunt and takes its time making use of a slipstream. I'm definitely beginning to see what people mean by 'momentum car'.

All the best

2'17.880???? I'm soooo in the wrong group, i managed to do around 2'21.500 in online race situation, if I stayed on track :)

Well, i keep practising i guess

2'17.xxx ? hmm I guess I will have to try those settings by GTP tuner because on "basic" setup I did like 2'20.0xx...

2:17's :nervous: i have raced there a few times in the TT and cant get below 2:20's :nervous:, i always let the pack go and give them a 10 second start so i dont intefere in their races.

Hey guys,

Oh dear, that wasn't the intended reaction :scared:

The thing is, remember it's Suzuka which is basically where I've spent the last 8 months in this game almost every night. Also I am so much better at driving 4WD cars than RWD. On top of that, remember that you don't actually have to win anything to progress beyond this stage, just don't come last :) Also I have a growing reputation for making at least one catastrophic error per race to maintain, so again, no need to fret!

The next stage may well be Fuji, Daytona, Eiger etc so there's nothing to be worried about, especially from me! I'm utterly rubbish at Eiger and Daytona. If you wanna be scared, RPM's faster than me and timeattack and hollo1 will be faster as well

All the best

haha that's excactly what I'm going for, hoping for a catastrophic error by one of my group members! :dopey:
Otherwise i won't survive this round :)

I think another good point to make here is that the organisers did the best with what they had, the groups were arranged by the time trial performance at Eiger, my worst track. Whereas it might have been someone else's favourite track and they appeared higher up. GTP_rpm is a Div 1 driver but he's been placed with me because he too suffers at Eiger. Now that we're all at Suzuka, the preferences are again different and may make the groups look unbalanced. But again, this kind of thing must be very difficult to set up...and the championship winner will undoubtedly be an all-rounder who is good at every track.

Wow, you did a 2'20.0xx with stock settings, no extra horsepower and maximum weight? Mate that's MUCH more impressive than what I've done! Respect 👍

All the best

Yeah excactly, I like Eiger and I managed to do an excellent time there on the Qualifing, though it was the only time i got under 1'18. I never liked Suzuka, so I avoided it as much as I could, so I suck now at it, saw it yesterday when I (tried to) race RPM.
But I'm fine with that, I don't wanna win a wheel, I'm here for the experience and for fun, it's pretty interesting that whole thing, I like it :)

Btw would anybody else like the idea of having a race for the loosers of this round? Then maybe the winner could get back in the game again. Or just for the fun, so it's not already over with that Sixaxis event :)

how do i join a group?

You needed to qualify with a time trial lap OFFLINE at Eiger, but the deadline was a week or so ago. Actually if there is space in one of the groups maybe the mods can squeeze you into a group with less than 4 members currently...or if someone has had to drop out? PM them and ask real nice, info should be on the first page :)

All the best

man I am having bad luck with this event, I modifed the tune to my liking and was extremely happy, I made sure i went to then menu and save before quiting. Last night I went to do some races and eveything was back to stock :(

I have now posted a link on the front page for the Dutch Customs tune.

well i'm stuck at work right now, but as soon as i'm finished i'm gonna put mt time up. I think i should be able to get into the 2:17's or 16's. Set up is critical as this will really define who has knowledge of setting up a car and coming up with a really good time. If youre not setting the car and you get a 2:10.......then you have already won this event

I pm'ed my GROUP 8 on Friday...no word yet...
JonesyGT246 - US (NTSC U)
rofajole - US (NTSC-U)

If I don't hear back do I win :)

If you, me and GTP_Wanna_B all send them PM's to race and they dont reply then yes.

BUT

there is still 8 days left.

2'17.8 is quick in my books. I have used the DC tune (unmodified) and after 10 laps have done a 2'18.4. There is more to shave off, for sure (isn't there always?). For example, I took a good line at Dunlop with good exit speed and took out about 0.5 secs.

It's a case of shaving off those tenths / hundredths and stringing it all together, which is where practice comes in! Back to Free Run...!

Good luck all.

Synwraith, I found over a second in free-practise by modifying the DC tune to my likings. Everyone should remember I used to spend my life in the GTR around Suzuka...And this car isn't much different to the GTR (apart from being slower...)

Like others have said, put me on any circuit but Suzuka and Fuji and I really do struggle. But that's part of the fun of a series like this.

I believe group 6 has organised their times, is there anywhere this is confirmed by the moderators of this championship??
