Ran some preliminary laps tonight at Atlanta. Fast lap in the 24.5 range. Averaging 25s.

In case any fellow non tuners need a yardstick :)
I’ve been down into the 23.80’s and 90’s. That’s as much as I’ve shaved off so far.

End of lap 6, end of lap 11, @llNovall gotta be thinking “those dang bmws, it’s like deja vu all over again!”

After watching replays I thought overall it was a pretty good night of racing for the first event. Maybe that sounds smug coming from the guy probably going to get overall win for the night. But I’ve been in the other barrel, crashed myself out or folded under pressure by one of these drivers. I expect I will again.

@Tyro , I’ve been in that barrel too. You were running great in clear air.

Turns out the BMWs can Motor. Just back in the seat this week. I’ll be running some laps at Watkins again with my expected new PP spec for comparison. I will report back my general findings. But @MrDonovan and I won’t be sharing details from our beemer skunkworks tuning lab until required by the director.

Post Race Report and Scoring
Event #1 at Watkins Glen

Event #1 at Watkins Glen is in the books. Overall, it was an intense and good night of racing. I personally had a number of intense and exciting battles, especially with @R1600Turbo in both races. On that note, he was on a mission to hunt me down in Race 1 from a few seconds back, to passing me with 2 to 3 laps to go. We tussled back and forth, but he ultimately got the better of me....great racing!! As usual, I'd ask all drivers to feel free to share their battles at Watkins Glen, via post, video, pics...however you prefer.

Some lag/jittering was present for a few drivers, but overall predictable and bearable. Knowing we are all confirmed to be on PS5 consoles, I would ask everyone to verify and make sure they are on the PS5 upgraded version of GT7, and not just running the "PS4" version on the PS5. I have read that his can have a negative impact on room stability as well. Please verify. Also, I would ask that all drivers be hardwire to their network, and always clear their network cache that can be found by selecting "Options"/Network...then clear data. This will ensure we have done everything in our power to help room stability.

Now for Scoring:
Congratulations to @Bologna_Duc on the Overall Win on the night...Well Done

Also, Congratulations to our Top 3 Overall:
1st: @Bologna_Duc
2nd: @Phlano099
3rd: @socalnatv (Sand_68)

(Sand and R1600Turbo were tied at 49 points, but tie breaker goes to highest placed race finish which was 2nd place in R1 for Sand vs 3rd place in R2 for R1600Turbo)

Below is the PP Regulation changes after Event #1. Drivers with changes noted, please adjust and tune accordingly.
Race Lobby PP Max Regulation for Event #2 is 643.00 PP
(Please be sure to set Max PP correctly, as noted above, for practice lobbies to allow those drivers with concessions to enter)

(NO PP regulation concession was issued for Harry Rowley due to his absence in Race 2.)

Track Map and Boundaries

Keep 2 wheels on or within the white line where curbing is not present, or on the curbs where they are present at all times, except where it is specifically noted otherwise. The white line and curbing is considered legal track surface. Failure to comply to track boundaries could result in penalties if infractions are witnessed and reported.

Road Atlanta Exceptions:
Turns 2 and 3 Chicane and Turns 10a and 10b:
Any solid painted curbing beyond the checkered curbing will be considered legal track surface. 2 wheels must remian in contact with the painted surface/curbing at all times.

Turn 5 (T5)
187c79aaa639-screenshotUrl.jpg

For this corner, Turn 5 at the end of the S's the large checker curbing will be considered track surface...2 wheels must remain in contact at all times. In this instance, it is obvious that you would want to keep all tires on the curbing to avoid contact with the gravel.
Beyond the curbing, where the tarmac runoff is past the white line, will be considered legal track surface up to where the grass begins. 2 wheels must be on or inside the white line where the grass starts at the exit of the corner.

Roster Confirmed as of 5/19/23, 7:24am

Initial report
Watkins post PP reduction (640 -> 633]: averaging 52.7s, optimal 52.5
Atlanta first laps no tuning change from WG setup: fastest 24.2, optimal 23.8

So far I’ve taken a balanced approach to get to the new pp value with changes to df, hp, and wt. A few weeks in the lab to try and squeeze blood out of the turnip.

Well I’m stuck at 25.5 with hours of tuning and practice, I’ll put more hours and if I’m still 3,4 secs behind I’ll bow out at let someone else who is semi competitive race.

I’m in the 25’s for now, gotta find some more front end grip & take advantage of my 640 pp 👌🐬

Good data. Looks like the handicap throttled you into the mix, but still plenty competitive. I'm running into the low 24's so far at Atlanta with a few hi 23's thrown in on perfect laps.

For those testing and practicing, remember that the track boundaries in this series is a bit more liberal...use the extra room where you can. Be sure to see the Event Details post a few posts up which clarifies the exception areas of the track that limits can be pressed.

Got a feeling some of PP adjustments after Event #1 will have helped close in the time differentials. Going to be another good event. Grid is filled, with 1 Reserve on the ready. Get to practicing....going to need every tenth and alot of consistency. I'll have a few practice rooms open in the afternoons over the next 3 weeks, around 4-5pm est. See some of you then, and the rest on race night.

Confirming

Turn 3
Here, in my experience, much further left and the backend starts to come around on my car.

Turn 5
In TT mode hitting this right gets me +0.3-4 sec alone on the short following straight.

Turn 10 a/b

Yeah Snail rules are the white line is OB in Duc’s second photo regarding turn 5 just past the checker rumbles. So looser rules in that spot can definitely be a time gainer.

Hard to retrain myself to run out there. I imagine I’ll continue my normal line for consistency sake and just keep being slow :)
