The only reason why we need this is to see who is fast and can actually hold a racing line and they would be good competitors online were as the slower people would be the ones online that purposely bash into your car

So yes I would want leader boards as long as It do not turn into something for people to complain about in the forums

You're forgetting the fact that GT5P style arcade TTs would make community organised TT competitions (WRS) much easier to organize. That way you know its a level playing field. I can't wait to find out if the race admins here have figured a way around this for GT5 WRS 1, other than fully tuning the car, or if we'll be running the honour system.

Is there a general standard that people adhere to when it comes to time trials say for stock settings? At the moment I'm following the rules set up in GTP having everything stock, though instead of sport medium tyres like GTP, I'm using hard for road cars atm.

I'm really hoping we will get similar restricted TT leaderboards in GT5 when it comes to the stock settings leaderboard, guessing the stock and tuned leaderboards will be completely seperate.

They better come soon, I'm just about done with career mode, unlocking most the cars I want. I am by no means a great driver, but leaderboards will keep me playing for a long time to come.

I'm with you DOUQA
Gave my 3 votes, would probably give 20 of my 25 to it if I could, with the other 5 going to your 4D idea ;)
👍

Yeah of course it must be stock settings! I think most GT players are noobs at car settings, just like me too... GT5P was perfect in that way...

It says on the back of the box, and Prologue had them. My guess is maybe they will wait until they kill the Prologue servers and then switch them over to GT5.

The answer is no im afraid.

Amazing isn't it, here we are in the year 2011 and GT5 does not have leaderboards. I mention the year because back in 2004 when I first started playing online on my PS2, games such as Burnout had leaderboards.

This is unacceptable and is the reason why im going to be playing TDU 2 from tomorrow onwards which does have leaderboards.

Im afraid GT5 isn't a video game. All GT5 entails is grinding and collecting cars and to be honest I don't find anything enjoyable with that type of gameplay. The trouble with PD is they nailed the physics engine, tracks, cars but made a right cock up of the rest of the game. To use a rather strange analogy I used to work in the catering industry. Now GT5 to me is like a chef spending hrs preparing the food but then forgets to cook it!

Like i've said many times if GT5 was released in the late 90s, early 2000s then I would of been content with the gameplay because I didn't know any different. However the likes of TDU, Forza etc show what a difference having career, online leaderboards makes to a game.

I blame the GT community aswell. The problem with GT5 is the gameplay is stale, boring and outdated and the same can be said with the GT community especially being outdated. Take for example this thread, now this won't recieve many replies because none of the leaderboards threads do. Yet look at the thread below titled "Do you have a song that helps you race, but your too embarrassed to play it".

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=162801

Now I don't mean to be funny but what a pointless thread this is and yet an important gameplay feature like leaderboards hardly gets any response. Yet if some of the GT community had played games like Forza 1&2 they would realise how much more advanced and modern that franchise is.

So my summary is PD/Kaz are living in the past and so are some of the members on this forum.

They seem to get too many concessions from people in this place aswell, any other company would have been ridiculed for some of the decisions and short cuts that PD have taken.

But lets not get into that here, well keep it to leaderboards if thats okay

Ive kind of moved away from the career in GT5 alittle bit recently and leaderboards would be interesting and maybe help me learn abit about tweeking

I agree 100% with everything that you have said, i also was a long time fan of forza until they released FM3 and the game went rapidly downhill imo, the leaderboard system was great but as for car selection to compete on the leaderboards not so great cause the game was ruined with the AWD swap. I have put a couple of threads up about certain issues with this game like the penalty system for instance should be the number one priority over the leaderboards or we will end up with a game like FM3 all over again where they will have to keep wiping the scoreboards, but just like you said i had very few replies on the issue, i would have thought it would of got all the talented drivers interested, how wrong i was.

Got to agree with everything Ivor and Dynamic posted. Really PD is lucky that they did nail the physics so well. Because if the physics weren't top notch, there would be no reason at all to play the game. The more I play it, the more I think that Gran Turismo is just a bigger, prettier version of Race Pro. Another game that nailed the physics, but screwed up just about everything else.

The game desperately needs a full LB system. Before that it really needs a classing system to separate the cars. Without those two things, the game is never going to reach it's potential.

It's a twist of irony that I had predicted no leaderboards for FM4. After all, they've already dumped most every other racing feature to cram casual junk in. I figured the leaderboards would be gone for FM4 so you can drive with your hands in the air or walk around the car with Kinect. Never in a million years did I think GT5 would not have leaderboards. I thought only T10 was that dumb and out of touch with what the racing community wants and needs. Turns out I was wrong I guess.

All we can do now is hope that leaderboards and a better penalty system will be implemented in the next update, it's been a while since the last update so i am expecting something pretty big, a penalty system is basically all but confirmed if you think about it as they had to stop the GT Academy, now all put your hands together and pray leaderboards will be included, if this feature isn't included i can't see people sticking around and PD will loose a lot of its core members.

I would definitely like to see leaderboards some time soon. I've played about all Im going to play in A & B spec, and now I just drive and tune new cars. Being able to compare lap times would give me more motivation to keep doing this.

I also agree that the penalty system needs to be updated first. Also some kind of classing system as TRC GeorgiaDawg already mentioned.

I hope the temporary leaderboards from the seasonal events are not what they're talking about behind the box.

The leaderboards were only mentioned on the US version, yeah... Doesn#t make it less of a lacking feature, in my opinion :D
Either way, let's hope PD get them into the game ASAP.

Its not on my box. Not starting some argument, it just isnt there, I can read

Post above and my earlier posts explains that leaderboards are only on the back of American game cases, as far as i know, someone please correct me if im wrong :)
