So we might not get a patch.

We won't be involved. We'll not be working with EA for the foreseeable future.

I am really looking forward for the WMDPortal to go live so we can learn more about it. I enjoyed both Shift and Shift 2, and Shift 2 is my favorite racing sim/game, so I have no doubt that you have both the talent, interest and the technology to create a truly groundbreaking racing sim/game with excellent physics, graphics, sounds, attention-to-detail and track & car selection that builds and improves on the Shift 2 formula!

But till then I hope that you will work with EA on fixing the freezing issue on the PS3. I understand that for Shift's quality assurance EA is mainly responsible, and that you may be bound by NDAs so that you are not allowed to answer freely, but it would be good to know that you are doing anything within your power to release one more patch that fixes this serious bug. It will also increase the confidence of console players that your future projects will have high quality, game-breaking-bug-free console ports.

So I am looking forward in the foreseeable future to see one more patch for Shift 2 on consoles!

Again, thanks (and congratulations) for the excellent Shift and Shift 2 and I am really looking forward to learn more about your future projects! 👍

Ah shame that wish you well for the future. EA have messed up big time there.

EA simply ****ed themselves badly not letting devs fixing their product. Anyway, game industry is changing quickly and developers are looking for new ways to produce AAA titles without pubblishers. ISI are the pioneers but we are only talking about PC's market. SMS has the potential to create succesful stuff on consoles and I really think their new approach will benefits final users. It will be something NEW for all of us... so stay tuned....

WOW! This is very disappointing news to read. I don't understand how this can be so easily swept under the rug as it relates to the consumer. PS-3 owners have a "broken" game. We're not talking about a few minor glitches.., but major glitches that are prohibiting game completion.

Why is this nonsense allowed to go on in the gaming industry? Last time I checked (at least in the USA) there wasn't a specific set of laws that excluded game publishers from the "consumer protection laws". EA.., pulled the plug on an unfinished product that clearly needs further development.., and are leaving the consumers hanging out to dry.

Folks.., IMO we as a community need to send an obvious message to the industry. Voice your discontent for this latest flop by EA. Flood their customer support with emails showing your discontent. Pass on this info to all the gaming blogs and websites that you know of. Put a fire under EA's backside that they can't put out. This is totally unacceptable.

On a side note to Ian. Going on an assumption here.., it appears there was clearly a falling out between EA and SMS. You guys are a good developer.., and I'm sure you can produce a good finished product for the consoles. You guys should consider joining some of your old pals. SMS and SimBin could do wonders for the console racers.

Agreed about EA , also I didnt know SMS were going down that route, will definitely keep an eye on that.

Thanks

Ian, I'll definitely support your new project with what little I can give. It's a great idea and I trust you. As I said before, S2U is an excellent game and even though many of us seem to always be pointing out the bugs and freezes, we're also very aware of the passion and dedication that SMS put into this sim. Hence our frustration. Anyhow, try your best to give us that much needed one last patch so we can enjoy the Ring to the full. Make it happen and I'm sure Shift 2 Unleashed will become a legend. Great cars, great mods, great sound, great tracks, great soundtrack, great track details, great AI, great fun... great job! We just need the bugs to be fixed asap.

Guys, I think what we have to do as a community is draw up a list of the most prominent bugs/glitches that directly affect game play, VIDEO document them, then either compile them into a YouTube-hosted video, or on a web site and direct EA to that. We should probably make the rounds on all the other forums (NoGripRacing, RaceDept, ISR, etc.) that host NFS S2U threads in order to maximize exposure/participation.

Just a thought, our moaning and groaning on forums is not going to do it, I know that my repeated postings as well as other forum participant's postings on EA's official forum's threads designated for bug-reporting have brought no action.

...and if that does not do it, then at least we have the documentation to provide media outlets related to tech/gaming industry to further heighten awareness of the issue.

I actually think i will be trading in all of my EA games for the PS3, and WONT be buying anymore with their name attached to it.

The more i read about this whole mess, the more is irritates me.

I've been hugely disappointed with EA for quite som time, they often close servers pre-maturely & just seem to be one of the most greedy publishers in the business.

Apart from a few "must have" titles unfortunately published by EA I've abandoned them for good!

(exceptions being Dragon Age 1 & 2)

EA...., has clearly become VERY greedy over the years. It's all "profit over quality" for them anymore. Their greed will eventually come back to bite them in the a$$.

Good idea then anyone reporting similar issue can link to these as example. I don't suppose everyone has ability to make vidoes themselves.

I am going to be making some videos of the freezing here soon and post them on my YouTube channel.

There's already some people that have freezing videos on there for the ps3.

Don't get too optimistic - I asked them (EA support) to do a simple test to see for themselves that the game freezes.
They replied that they weren't allowed to play the game while they work.

So I don't expect them to be allowed to (or able to) watch a video on youtube either...

Haha! That has to be the worst support answer ever!!

Agreed. It's a game company, come on.

Whatever happened to companies making products for the consumer? Anymore its all about profit margins and bottom lines.

I still give credit to SMS for their efforts. Seems another overly large company is holding back the smaller guys.
