Its like that on many games. You need to buy it to unlock it.

No, they added the game content and DLC afterwards into the disk via updates. It as you would say "carves" the data into the disk from the PS3. Why else would we have needed to install all those gigabytes of updates, huh? If all the content was in the disk from the start, then they would just activate it and we wouldn't need to download so much. And why wouldn't they just include everything from day one, if it was already on the disk? That way, there would be far less criticism and most games don't get so many updates anyway.

And GT5 was released well before prototype Corvettes were even photographed, so PD obviously added all the content in after the release. In fact, they'll probably include the production version in via update when it is released. PD obviously took precautionary measures to ensure that if the game was hacked, like it has now, that the production Corvette will not be leaked. So they add it in later.

Wow. This thread went from a possible genius who could crack encrypted files on the GT5 install to a bunch of complete idiots arguing whether cars two years or more from invention were somehow known and hidden on the disk, or if DLC downloads are "carved" onto a Blu-Ray.

Wow.

Sometimes I weep for humanity.

There's no need for you to come on here and start calling people idiots.

I want nitros in my Peugeot 106! Yeah baby! Nitros, Super-Soft Sports, more engine upgrades - ok, it's a pipe dream, but a nice one.

Does anyone seriously hold hope these will all, or even partially, become a reality?

I dont see them being on the disc for no reason, if they are there, PD must be working on them for something. If we dont see them in GT5, I think we'll have quite a less buggy GT6 being released, and a GT6 that seems to appeal to quite a few people, and if they are already throwing these things into the game to check them out, GT6 cant be too far off... In theory...

I think that it depends on how long these codes were on the disc or whatever update they came with. I don't think that PD put them there for no reason, but if they weren't new or anything then they most likely aren't coming to us too soon. If they recently came with 2.08 or 2.09 update, then. . .

No way those updates were big enough to bring that much in. Super Softs have been in for a while as spotted by someone during a B-spec event or something so its not recent...

I'm pretty sure those tuning upgrades were on disc since the beginning. To be honest, I don't see anything there being actually released, but everything is possible.

A little in 2.07, little in 2.08, etc. maybe. So, definitely not all at once... huh.

And the point of putting these secret tuning upgrades, tires etc. is . . .

Not sure if it's been pointed out but the further upgrades found are all from GT4 if I remember correctly. The Nos, Super soft tyres and triple plate clutch were all in Polyphony's previous title. It's quite possible that GT5 was built on the GT4 game and engine and upgraded but didn't have time to implement these further tuning options. This has also been seen before when some car in GT5 (Ford GT I believe) was seen on the El Capitan track, a well known GT4 track and a track that has also been linked to GT5 due to further logos. All the findings are parts of GT4 that have not been (and likely not going to be) implemented in the game
