Sony Gamescom press - GT6 appearance

Last week I tried both drive club (ps4) and gt6 (ps3) demos, and drive club is entirely different than gt6 and it has to be said that despite the differences I much preferred gt6. That means at launch date the ps4 racing titles do not compete with gt6, on both grounds, so to us ps4's release date doesn't matter at all.
Who said I give a crap about Drive Club? I think that game looks horrible. My point was that they should release GT6 on PS4 instead of PS3, or at least release a PS4 version along with it.

Not the greatest financial decision and would be wasting several years of ps3 developing time, losing money in all regards. It has been discussed thoroughly on this site so I assumed the discussion/complaint wasn't going that way yet again.

or at least release a PS4 version along with it.

No chance.

And as I said the PS4 doesn't matter to us, at least until there's a racing game/sim that appeals to the gt6 fans.

How you figure? They aren't classified as standard or premium anymore. So any of those on that list that are standards in gt5 could be premium in gt6.I think this was stated earlier..
The Cizeta is still on the list of 'cars carried over from GT5'.

This. I wouldn't be surprised if they released a 'GT Academy' or 'XL' Edition on PS4 with all DLC included, and an option to transfer garages...

Maybe in 2015, but having those thoughts is like saying that we should not buy gt6 and instead wait 8 years for GT8 on the PS5, or not buy a car now since they will get better in the future.

It could also depend on PD's mindset, whether or not they are interested in doing that or going ahead and developing GT7. Either way, it was a better decision to release it on PS3 profitwise-something Forza 5 should have done (especially with all the negativity towards the Xbone)

Some people are STILL whining that GT6 is not on the PS4? Even if it was you'll probably still whine anyway. So seriously, GET over yourself and DEAL WITH IT. Nuff said.

To me, it sounds like they didn't get the memo that the cars with the "tribal tatto stripe" are special pre-order cars.

EDIT: Never mind. Massively tree'd.

It's Kotaku. Flame posts and misinformation is their M.O. as far as I can tell. Was it that bad when Brian Crecente was in charge? I remember at least somewhat liking the site then.

True 👍, All of this winging and whining has got to stop. I mean, people were b:censored:ing about GT6 not a day after it was first announced. Honestly, it feels like no-one understands patience these days...

Some people were even b:censored:ing about the Gamescom trailer in this thread (not naming names).

Never, ever trust Kotaku. Not only its employees make up facts but also is a community driven site, which isn't good for journalism.

Several years, yes, which could've been put into making a mind blowing PS4 title within a year or two from the launch of the console. No, instead they're releasing GT5.5 on the current gen console AFTER the next gen console is released.

I honestly don't see the logic, and I probably never will, unless GT7 is released in 2016 or sooner.

Oh God...

Well, we know you won't like GT6...

It's just those who say GT6 should have been on PS4. Like I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but both PD and Sony said GT6 is going on PS3, meaning it's too late for a GT6 PS4. It's incredibly annoying now...

Called GT6, not 5.5. And PS3 has more units, and they work on GT5. This is for PS3 the equivalent of GT4 was for PS2.

The research for ps3 performance was already done for GT5, further improved when making patches. It's best to take advantage of that knowledge by releasing another game on the same console, instead of throwing that work away starting over again in a new console, with the massive delays, money and time wasted and whatnot.

edit: and if you want absolute quality then it requires experience with the console itself, of PD and of other developers. That is the reason why the first games of a new console never show its full capabilities, which is only reached with its last games. Quality wise GT7 on the PS4 in 2015 would certainly look and overall be game a better game than GT6 on the PS4 in 2013, both with the exact same content, because in 2015 PD will have more info from Sony and from others' experience in how to develop for the PS4.

Agreed, the PS3 was the right decision. Look at it this way:

Either release on PS3, which both Sony and many of its consumers (over 70-75 million) will continue to use and support until PS4 becomes more affordable over time OR take the gamble of releasing it on the new console which only a couple of million people are using upon launch and has not received a thorough breakdown (until we get the console).

GT6 on PS3 was the safer bet. Forza on the other hand took the gamble of using the Xbox One and-based on people's criticism of the console-may have an effect on its sales.

Not quite though, is it? GT4 had like twice as many cars and tracks as GT3 and it was released a good while before the launch of the PS3, yet GT5 was released over 4 years into the PS3's life.

Looks like we won't see a GT title on the PS4 until 2018 then, but I guess you'll still enjoy GT6 on your PS3's by then, yeah? 👍

Any interviews or additional info coming up soon, as in today or tomorrow?

Meanwhile, here is yesterday's video of GT:A 2013 looked from the inside, of a site that will cover GT6 in particular and other racing games at gamescom. They will probably be next week but no sooner.

You mean like GT4, the very example he named? And I like how the years increase in each new post.

These release date jokes are already older then me.

I don't know about you guys, but i'd rather have a very polished PS3 game over a very inexperienced, unpolished PS4 game that I would have to end up paying over $500 for including tax.

You have a point but so far aside from the new Physics and tyre engine which we don't know how good they will be,there is nothing that drops your jaw about GT6 and in a year where alot of games are doing exactly that,GT6 seems so medicore so far.

This is a flawed argument since it doesn't take into account how much a early GT6 on PS4 would drive console sales. And while Sony might not make much per console sold, the attachment rate of games (usually something like 6-12 games per console) DOES make them alot of money.

Add to that non-monetary value things like increased console market shares, it makes for a very good business perspective why GT6 should have in fact been release on PS4 and not PS3.

Sorry, what?
And I like how the years increase in each new post.
Earlier I said I would understand their strategy if they released GT7 in 2016 or sooner, and if they hadn't spent time on another PS3 title, they could've perhaps released GT6 on the PS4 within a couple of years.

All I'm saying is that I for one likes to stay updated in terms of gaming consoles, and one of the games I like happen to be Gran Turismo. Especially now, considering the PS4 will be the cheapest console... ever?

Sure, the PS3 is ok I guess and some amazing games are being released for it still (The Last of Us was probably the best game I've ever played and GTAV is gonna be tons of fun) but I (and quite a few with me) didn't expect such a big PlayStation exclusive franchise to be released at the very end of the PS3's lifespan.

I'd be fine if I'd seen some major improvements and new features, but so far I haven't, so I guess I'll miss out on this one.

I think it does take that into account, but a 70+million user base is still the better deal for PD and Sony.
