Sound Improvements for GT5?

I thought the Z06 was one of the most disappointing to be honest

Well it is a dissapointing sound for 500hp 7.0L V8,but unfortunatly it does sound very close to the current generation LSX V8 range of engines from GM. It steems from the firing order of these engines. You can make them sound good, via careful selection of extractors and mufflers, they always return to the unusual washing machine on steriods sound in the very high RPM range. The Z06 does sound like a very strong and deep breathing version of this engine design, however it does have to also pass drive by noise tests.

Hopefully with the different exhaust`s you can pick in GT5 it will sound good:tup:

I don't find the sounds bothersome at all (maybe I'm not enough of a car nut to tell the difference between engine sounds). First priority is getting the physics simulation perfect.

Everything about the GT sounds are so clean and smooth. When you play something like GTR, you really feel as if you're inside the car.

Yea I dont know what some of you are talking about but the sounds in GT5:P are awesome and definitely a step up from GT4. Some cars are better then others of course. The new Z06 sounds great and just like the car from what I've heard with the valves open. The FD RX7 sounds just like the rotary (friend had one), the R34 sounds just like an R34's RB26, the K20 Integra sounds beautiful, the Amuse S2k GT1 sounds just like a S2k with raspy fart cans (friend has one, ridin in one, and driven one), the 4G63 Evo sounds exactly like that (been in one and have heard plenty), and the STIs kinda sound like STIs but they need an exhaust to bring it out more. I have an 05 STI myself.

Some cars need a little work I guess. And some cars just happen to sound crappy like that in real life. The audio I think they need to work on are the turbo and supercharger sounds. Theres no supercharger whine and not every turbo setup sound is the same (also know this from experience).

Also I'm hearing it through 5.1 surround so it could vary on what peoples setup is.

I hope the tuning effects sounds in the final game. I really dont like the Impreza sound. We used to have one in the family, a v2. and the sound was just insane. You could hear it from a mile off.
Also the dump valves are really quiet.

Well on factory stuff they tend to be as they are recirculated (shouldn't really run it to atmosphere unless you have a certain MAF setup or stand alone). I couldn't really hear mine when the car was stock but now that I've got all kinds of crazy bs it sounds like a supra

Sound is the area PD need to improve ten fold, it's so disappointing in all respects.

The little I've heard of Forza 3 appears to be a very large improvement over GT5P.

yea i dont get it...

The 599 sounds like god having sex...

and the f430 sounds like....A..Electric car..What went wrong? How could they have gone so wrong....

No...noo nooo nooo noooo

I dont know.. I think the 430 sounds like a 430.. I saw a F430 Cup Challenge race at a local track.. they pretty much sounded like that..

I don't want to say all the modern high reving ferrari's sound like that but they kinda do. The race cars had a very tin-y sound to them. I believe the engines were stock.. Not sure about the exhaust..

Heres pics as a treat:

Sorry if they are too offtopic

I think the sounds are very good at the time,
certainly when you compare it to other games.
But okay, there's still a lot room for improvement...
PD can't just do everything at the same time i guess.
Graphics are superb, now the sound has to become superb..

But I hope that PD remembers to add sound options for the things like the engine and the wind so we can choose our favorite :)

As long as the allow the level of wind noise to be changed for anyone using an LFE device (buttkicker, earthquake) I'll be happy.

I think the sounds are very good some cars need some more work, but alot of them sound great. I run a 52 Samsung 1080 240Hz 750 With monsters HDMI. the cars sound very different compared to my old 27 olevia. My question for the community is the people who think the cars sound terrible can you please give me an example from another game using that same car. i see people saying this car in this game sounds way better than GTP but when i look at the car they are comparing its a race car or a car with upgrades. The tunned cars sound real good in GTP atleast way better then the stock cars, but thats because you have cars with engine upgrades vs no upgrades. What i want to see for example is a stock 350z in gtp and a stock 350z from the game they are comparing. Another thing i would like to know is are people running HDMI cables. Thank you

Yea I'm running HDMI cable. Then optical from the TV to my surround sound.

I haven't based my opinions in comparison to other games.. I go by what I've heard in real life or DVD/video of real cars (i.e. Best Motoring, Top Gear) but with those I don't presume to know what they sound like for a fact.

The only comparison I can think of is the turbo sound effects from the Skyline Z-tune in Project Gotham Racing 4 I think in comparison to mine or other aftermarket big turbo cars I've heard. Only car in a game I've ever heard that had detailed turbo sound.

I posted this comment somewhere else recently. The 599 sounds much more aggressive in GT-HD than Prologue and there is a distinct exhaust rasp. It is much better than Prologue.

Car sounds the the GT series have been dissapointing. The noise a supercar makes alone turns every head on a street.

I was lucky enough to visit the Pagani factory a few years ago. We saw Horacio fire up and rev a new Zonda. What phononomal noise. It sounded so crisp. Sadly, playing the Zonda in GT4, the sound was muddy, if you know what I mean. If PD could improve the sounds I would be a very happy guy.

I think part of the problem is it's not loud enough. Not all of it, just part of it. But, on the game, 6 or 7000 rpms sounds like 4 or 5 should actually sound like.

Wow, now we are quoting screen sizes when talking about sound. Oh well, my 55" SAMSUNG LED sounds great to me...

He also annouced that he had bought expensive monster HDMI cable :), but there is no picture or sound quality differense between $5 and $150 cable.

We have a 61" Samsung LED. It sounded ok. But... I use a 27" (I think) Acer HD monitor. It doesn't sound good at all, so I hooked a Bose stereo to it and it sounds great.

P.S. It may seem small, but it's perfect because it's just right in front of me.

EDIT: I know some cars are off, but it really does depend on what speakers you use. The Mini Cooper with standard speakers sounded horrible, but with the stereo, it sounds almost right on.

Well i have a pretty good stereo system and i still think it sounds wrong.
And i actually dont find the tire sounds that bad, the problem i have with them is just that it shouldnt be so loud when you use slicks.

Is there a problem just trying to explain your set up? I explaned My whole set up so members would understand what i got while i play GT. i try to be detailed as a can, so Come on big guy your looking into deep with stuff

And you can belive that if you want to buddy, Because while your just saying it I actually bought four different types of HDMI cable, AND between all of them it was HUGE differences.

Also i got a new sound system and GT5P sounds like a different game I will give details later

some of the vehicles have great sounding exhaust/engine notes, but others sound pretty strange. My previous car was and 05 Evo 8, it was producing about 380hp with some slight mods, it had an HKS exhaust an AEM intake, and a re-flash. The tuned EVO in GT5:Pro sounds nothing like my old car. But on the other hand the Tuned s2k sounds very very good compared to real life.

I'm pretty sure that by the time Gt5 is released every issue from prologue will have been resolved, especially the sounds.
