At this point, why should we care about what part 3 has to say. We know nothing major will change until GT7 hits; something the pessimist has been saying since BEFORE the release of GT6. Why should I give a damn until then.

P.S. @Johnnypenso I told you this blog would do this:

'maybe, possibly, soon in a future update'?

I expect nothing noticable on GT6 and all the work to be done on GT7. I appreciate he position Kaz is in and think whole comment is really marketing speak for, "Don't worry, we're working on it, GT7 is where the big change will be"

I did however note that he did not say at any point, and probably won't, that the sounds will be ready at the launch of GT7. I would not be surprised if they weren't.
I would be very surprised if they weren't in the game at launch. PD must be itching to show them off.

Agreed. It would be GT6 all over, new sounds are coming, promised, just not... quite yet, but we're working on it! General opinions would (rightfully) bash the game for being so far behind with sounds, even if they'd patch in the best sounds on the gaming market 3 months after release, the casual buyer wouldn't know.

I think the main problem are the samples, not the sound engine itself, and while the sound engine affects all cars at once, the samples essentially mean work on each and every car. So it's a lot of work and should be done before GT7's release.

Wouldn't surprise me if GT7 ends up being GT6 with better eye candy, and no significant changes towards gameplay again. If they are so intend on keeping the 1000+ car count in there, to the point that they will actually re-use all those standards, they are going to have to dedicate quite a lot of time adjusting the samples on all those cars like KiroKai says. Kudos if they would actually manage to do it, but given their track record the last years...

They've had time to "adjust samples" since GT2 released. This is guaranteed not to be the issue.
But did they? I get the feeling they only recently began experimenting due to public pressure. Find it hard to believe they actually dedicated time in upgrading samples before that point.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. Having a ridiculous car count yet again, with standards YET again is not a good sign to begin with. I'd like to see them accurately depict sounds for ALL of them.

Salute if they do.

Why doesn't anyone get this?....

“I doubt that we’ll be throwing away the standard cars,” said Yamauchi. “Each car has its own fans. So I think we’ll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into Premium cars as they become available – but basically we’re more focussed on increasing the number of premium cars.”

He thinks they will stay. Meaning it's a 65% chance of them staying. Judging by the way the public is behaving though makes it likely that they won't be included. Everyone's behaving like they've been 100% confirmed that standards will stay.

There's a possibility that they won't come back.

Doesn't it matter if he thinks or not? When it comes to car numbers to be one of GT's selling points, there is no way Kaz is letting them go.

It happened in GT3, lightning can strike twice you know. In this case the lightning can strike for the better. Even though my most favourite car in the world is a standard, I'd rather have them leave GT7.

Anywho, back to sound. Would be better if they kept the Premiums only and perfected the sound for those. Would be wiser to leave standards in the dust. Wouldn't make sense for a Standard car to have the all amazing sound engine then doesn't have the visuals to match.

Great video (OK, the intake sound is a bit saturated, but not bad)! GT doesn't have intake sounds, so the only sound coming from the "engine" is the mechanical sound you get off-throttle in the second half of that video.

The X2014 Junior and Ralt RT3 only have exhaust sound, and have most of the expression shown in that video; just needs a bit more overrun excitation. If PD can add intake sound using the same method, we're golden. Then they just need to work on the overall fidelity / quality of the method.

But did they? I get the feeling they only recently began experimenting due to public pressure. Find it hard to believe they actually dedicated time in upgrading samples before that point.
No, they haven't touched the samples at all. The only car with entirely new sounds is the Hudson, and they're a different format (there's one other set I know of, but they've not been used on a car yet). That's aside from the Red Bull and Senna cars, of course, but they're far too expressive to be using samples.

That change in approach the Red Bull and Senna cars demonstrate was telegraphed in the changes made to the sound engine when GT5P was released. So sound has been "experimental" since whenever those changes seen with GT5P (I didn't have GTHD) were first decided upon.

It's been 6 years and i didn't own a PS3 back then, so i don't recall if there was actually an upgrade in sounds from GT4 to GT5P.
Anyway 6 years later and there's not much to show for it, i guess we can all agree that it's long overdue.

That it's long overdue is not in contention and doesn't change the evidence, and so the point about the samples stands.

Note that I said sound engine (as in graphics engine).

That, right there. +1000

I'm just going to ask this, whatever happens, happens.

Why does this still have an 'answered' tag to it ?. The 'blog' has provided nothing but filler with no worthwhile direct-answers to any of the proposed 'Kaz questions', this one included. The past... 22 pages of this thread I imagine are more 'banter' than actual confirmation of anything beyond the 'process' they used for sound-capture.

-Do we have an estimated time-frame for release of this 'sound-update' ?
or
-Do we have a 'proposed' solution to improving the sound-capturing process ?
Unless either of those questions have distinct, clear-cut answers (i.e. no "maybe, technically possible, future update" runaround), I don't see how this question (namely what's in the OP, not your theories & banter) could be considered 'answered'.

It has been, technically answered.

Will the new sound engine make it in time for July update and will the physics engine be further improved to accommodate Nissan's 2020 Vision GT car?

The major update to the sound will be coming in GT7, so don't expect anything on that front from the July update.

Who do you think marked it as answered?

It has been, technically answered.

Hmm, missed that bit. So a vague timeframe avoiding the 'meat' of this question was given, but that doesn't explain their 'placeholder' comments in reference to GT6's release & subsequent 'updating'. (See OP & recall all the 'placeholder' jokes)

Who do you think marked it as answered?

I have no idea, but it'd be interesting to know their reasoning. If that reddit answer is all they have to fall-on, I - and many others - won't consider this answered without much more detail.

I wouldn't expect any info on the improved sounds until they're ready to actually show them off, and that won't be until players are given the chance to hear them first-hand.

So really I think we're waiting until they're ready to show GT7 off, with a demo, e.g. at some automotive / game themed event. Chances are it'll be a bespoke GT event like it was for GT6.

You should ask a moderator about who marked the question as answered. Chances are there were whisperings on the wind, but, in true PD fashion, it's likely plans changed.

Before every GT game, we have guys like you, talking about how "surprised" and "shocked", or whatever else they'd be if PD releases an unfinished product.

How many unfinished products do they need to release before you expect it?
They're not going to change anything in the game either, they haven't in 15 years! Any minor changes will need 5 updates to eventually work, but when they do, something else will break.

I bet you can say what I have to say without my saying it, can't you?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

They're never going to really answer it, they never really answer anything, they haven't in 15 years!

The new sounds are already working. It's just that they can't exist in a vacuum, they need to be balanced against everything else the game is doing. They've clearly not been able to do that on PS3, and I've spent the last 6 years believing they wouldn't be able to do anything on PS3 (it was Kaz who said they could).

I'm pretty sure you don't know who "guys like me" actually are, also (especially when you're putting words in my mouth). No doubt you think you do. But whatever makes you happy.

What does that have to do with the reason why site staff marked the question as answered? Are you saying you (think you) know?

Also, your post comes across as incredibly infantile. But whatever makes you happy.

The way I see it, if PD fails to deliver again with the sounds, I will not buy their product. Simple.

I hope to God they don't fail this time. And frankly, it's going to be embarrassing, because there are no more excuses left! I'm sure Kaz ain't willing to go down without a good fight! :D

Well, I guess I can start by saying that this is a rant
Since the time of the PSone played very GT2, magnificent game for the season with several options of cars, beautiful graphics everything was very good, did not play the 3 and went straight to GT4.Que spectacle remember when I bought a Component AV Cable for my ps2 I thought everything too perfect game ran in 480p I loved seeing your replays..

Just then still having a Ps2 could not experience the acclaimed GT5, remember seeing its trailer before lançamente and pitied myself for losing this piece of art.
Then some time later outside the world of games, adiquiri my GT6 was all too perfect, for a while I did not care about their flaws knew that everything would be fixed, everything was so new to me that I do not notice their sounds, was hitherto the game started to get monotomo was little to do compared to its predecessor the sly copetindo the car to other games was very ugly, that such innovation is estranha,de lunar race anyway innovate is always welcome.
By waiting so long and spent much time until now, I do not see a significant improvement in the game today I apenos enter to atulizar game some 20 to 30 minutes and come out already, what good a game have pretty graphic and not translate reliadade the noise of their motores.PD appreciate everything done so far but unfortunately I do not trust in you, I spent my money on an incomplete game and that my view will always assim.E not attend more future GT seeing so many other franchises being born .
This is only

Excuse my horrible english

Even in broken English, despite obvious language barriers, I am still able to completely understand your point . The worst part is: PD got away with it for SO long (in regard to terrible sound replication). They have been able to flaunt wonderful graphics, while the rest of their presentation is generally unsatisfactory (since GT5, at least).

Obviously you choose whatever makes you happy, so I guess I'll call it even.

Most of the GT sound complaints are about the actual sound recordings, not the fidelity and quality you keep bringing up like a broken record.
Cars that sound like hoovers, V8's sound like 4 bangers, and most of us aren't concerned with the same semantics that you are.
I want a Mustang that actually sounds like a Mustang, and I really couldn't give less of an explicit excrement why they don't, or why you think they don't, or any excuses as to how it's impossible.
I've heard cars that sound like themselves in other games, and even a few in GT itself, so pardon me for not giving a damn to listen to you say it's impossible.
