I really don't understand Fox, they want to do this big revamping, yet still haven't shown what they are going to add that truly makes this better. I mean other than more sports, but what about the lame "reality" stuff they still have...

Yeah, looks like it. I have the listings for FS1, but Im getting the "Speed Canada" lineup that i posted the other day somewhere.

Im still getting those awful Foundation for a Better Life commercials :shudder:

Here is what I posted in my Facebook profile earlier today:

"With no more Speed Channel, I feel as a racing fan... homeless. I am watching FOX Sports 1 as I'm typing this, but it's sad Speed Channel and its total 18 years of Speedvision and Speed Channel is just the total end of an era. Dish still labels FS1 as SPEED. My latest blog post pn JBS shares my thoughts on FS1. Still a great shame for Speed Channel to just be a distant memory."

For the intrepid eye, yes- I obviously meant to say "on JBS" and not "pn JBS." And if you're not familiar with me and my work, JBS is the acronym for my main blog- John's Blog Space. That's the way I feel. I follow traditional sports, but I'm just bummed FOX Sports 1 just comes at the expense of cutting Speed Channel. Was it really worth killing one proper (let's be fair) niche sports market like motorsports to make yet another general sports channel? Just a bunch of knucklehead decisions that has me both upset and sad at the same time at FOX.

Sad to see the plug pulled on Speed, though I knew it was dying after Pinks All Out was announced, and it is the end of an era(I'm also pissed Gearz won't be on FS1 eitherbut I digress). But is it the end of motorsports TV? I don't know.

I think FOX needs to launch a new all-motorsports channel. None of this stick-and-ball sports bulls:censored: that FS1 now has. And the UFC? UFC can go to hell in an iron maiden for all I care.

Right now, Speed is showing all the MotoGP coverage from Indianapolis. You may as well consider this a throwback to Speed Channel. The likes of Bob Varsha and Ralph Sheheen among others are in the house at Indy. I still feel displaced or (as I used) homeless) with FOX Sports 1 taking over. I have no problem with FS1- it's just... did Speed and FUEL TV have to be sacrificed in FS1's birth? So in other words... enjoy the MotoGP coverage on FS1. It may be the best sort of Speed memories you'll have for a while.

How do Facebook people feel about Speed being FOX Sports 1? See for yourself by looking at some of the comments posted by Facebook people: http://www.facebook.com/speed

I gave Fox Sports Live a chance but it is now just SportsCenter 2.0 with terrible jokes. They messed up several times but I expected that to happen but the jokes were awful. Why did they try to do a joke after every highlight? After 45 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and I switched to SportsCenter. Besides Race Hub that would have been the only shows I was going to watch.

Really sad to hear. Never really turned on Speed except for when there was an F1 race or a generic race was on when nothing else was, but now I miss it. We lost the only pure motorsport channel. Now, it is just 🤬 like UFC and American Football. Just as long as they don't add basketball, because that would just make it worse.

Simply put, this is crap... I guess we still have Velocity, MATV, and the Powerblock re-runs they show on SpikeTv :grumpy:

Somehow, some way, we survived one weekend without Speed Channel. Now is a snapshot of what weekdays with FOX Sports 1 will be like in the absence of Speed Channel.

A lot of people seemed to have praised that MotoGP was the racing focus rather than NASCAR. Yet still, not many racing fans cared about anything that wasn't racing. I gathered these impressions mostly from Facebook.

I still feel bummed mostly with FS1 killing off Speed Channel. 7:00 PM Eastern Time on Sundays usually means SPEED Center- a real connection to racing news. Where is it today? Gone. During some of the promos on-air, I sometimes get the feeling from announcers' voices that they don't feel too enthusiastic promoting various non-racing material. This is still a transitional process that just seems completely foul. I am not sure if this is an appropriate term, but it is almost like culture shock to go from Speed to FS1.

I am trying to keep everything within the context of motorsport here. NASCAR Trucks will race at Bristol on Wednesday night. What's the network? Right- FS1. And I think Joey Coulter will rock the FS1 colors on his Toyota Tundra stock truck for that race. Better enjoy all the racing you can on FS1... it ain't gonna be the same any more since Speed's departure.

[UPDATE] My Dish now reads (the artist fomerly known as Speed Channel) as "FOXS1" instead of "SPEED."

Same here, they've now removed the logo and its just an empty space.

On Fox sports live this A.M. Michigan 400 highlights werent shown until 26 min into and only run 2 min.Motogp @ Indy gets 15 sec at 49 min and it appears that no other racing of any kind happened in the world this weekend.

However Indy and the G-Men had an epic preseason battle however and the highlight of that was seeing Pam Oliver taking a football to the face in warm-ups.

My Classic car has moved to MAVTV and Two Guys garage and Truck U are now on GAC (some country channel).

Since there isn't much about cars to watch on TV any more I'm glad I've turned to Youtube. Below is just a list of a few automotive channels to checkout on Youtube. The only channel that may be biased towards a specific car is High Tech Corvette, but all the other channels feature a variety of cars from around the world. If you guys have any additional recommendations please feel free to share them.

Is it basically becoming a time where if you want something truly dedicated and real, you turn to the Internet while most of the mass media types are pushing for material that makes the most money? When I discussed FOX Sports 1 from a motorsports perspective in my main blog, I noted the piece from a link RACECAR linked to about how FOX could have benefitted from having a general sports network and that Speed Channel was not as much a money maker. You still have to credit that Speed lasted for so long- even if it wasn't a cash cow. Its importance lied in that this was the best TV forum for automobiles and motorsports. Now, it's gone. Why now? Why NOW pull the life support plug on Speed Channel?

I did see "FOX Sports Live" featuring the MotoGP highlights and part of the NASCAR material. FOX will still cover motorsports better than any other network, but it's just a lot different without Speed and without a dedicated motorsports channel. Funny enough, "Fantastic Finishes" is on FS1 and one of the featured events is the finish of the 2007 Daytona 500. I think FS1 is trying to keep motorsports active on the channel. You know, remind you of what this channel used to be before the FS1 takeover. I still refer to this somewhat as culture shock for motorsports fans.

Yes.

My brother and two friends have cut the cable and gone Internet only. I'm on the verge. I rarely watch TV live anyway. Even sports are DVR'd. It's why I liked ALMS on ESPN's online thing. Full coverage when I had time to watch it.

This is the third damned time in 2 days I've randomly put on SPEED and this friggin Tom Brady interview has been on.

Back to Breaking Bad on Netflix...

I still find it depressing that Speed Channel has gone from the television voice of motorsport in America to a blog. I am a blogger myself, which I can appreciate; but you go from "Speed Channel" to "SPEED: The Motors on FOX Blog." So it isn't really a true departure from what SPEED offered.

I do watch FS1 programming. I saw bits and pieces of the new "Crowd Goes Wild" show with Regis Philbin and company, and I thought that was a pretty cool show. My problem is that I can't watch FS1 without thinking I'm watching Speed Channel- only a Speed Channel that covers more traditional sports than motorsports. If the first weekend of FS1 was tough for you motorsports lovers, the weekday swing will be just as brutal. And last I checked, there are still a good deal of Facebook people cursing (not literally... maybe) FOX Sports 1 for killing off Speed.

Deal any way you can!

It's a real shame. Can anyone recomend a livestream ALMS, F1 and Rolex sight?(if there is anything of the sort) Thank godness it's dream car week on Velocity or I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

I stay away from those channels until the races come on. Afterwards, avoid like the plague.

FOX Sports 1 has NASCAR tonight as the Trucks will take on Bristol. FS1 still just isn't like it used to be in the Speed Channel days. At least they give a crap about racing unlike the likes of ESPN/ABC. So this is more like a "better than nothing" deal. I had already sort of hyped up the NASCAR Trucks at Bristol tonight in the NASCAR thread. So I hope you NASCAR lovers get to enjoy today's sessions and tonight's race.

I don't know, I wonder if Fox has tried to buy Marty Smith, Bestwick, and Jarrett out of their contracts with ESPN? Larry Mac, Dee Dub, and Mike Joy can take a flying leap. The way I feel right this moment is, I'd rather have professionalism from within the industry (racing), than leftovers from the good ole boy state of mind. There is too much money involved to overlook constant bad pronunciation and a thick drawl. NASCAR is trying to expand its reach and break down the "redneck sport" mystique. It's time they expect more from broadcasters.

Are you serious? That's the main guy that does all the mispronounciations, getting names wrong (no matter if its indycar or NASCAR) and overreacts to the slightest thing (like when he somehow thought AJ was having a problem when he was slowing for a corner, like every other driver does :dunce:).

Why the hell would you want him? I'll take a thick drawl over someone who can't seem to remember half the fields names most of the time outside of Busch, Keseloski and anyone that races for Gibbs or Penske.
