SRT Tomahawk X VGT Super Lap: Nürburgring Nordschleife

This was an extremely fun challenge...for a wheel user. I wouldn't want to be a DS3 user. The time for gold is very generous so you can actually be light on the gas most of the way. I think people are so used to being full throttle all the time that they do not realize you can go slower. I did a slow and steady lap, actually avoiding the use of the brake most of the way, and ended up 20 seconds behind gold. Your earliest ghost will likely be quicker on the second half of the course than the first half as you get used to the car. I then practiced going much faster in the first part of the course. Once I had made up the missing 20 seconds plus a little compared to my ghost I made sure to go slower and more carefully for the second part of the course to avoid messing up. The key is to start by getting a slow ghost so you know how hard you really have to push yourself. Then, for wheel users, you must go around the track enough times to build up the muscle memory because the way this car steers is very different. Keep going even after you get disqualified for at least a few laps.

The car itself is super cool in concept and feels much more fun than the X1. SRT did a great job with their VGT. Unlike many others, I'm glad PD or SRT chose this track for the debut because I think it will force players to pay more attention to how this car behaves.

I give up, not sure how someone at PD thought this was a good idea. In the words of Michael De Santa (I know I'm quoting GTA V here), "What is this 🤬 🤬"

For those who want to lose their minds and really push the X to its limit:

1. NEVER go to 2nd unless you're in the slowest parts of the track (Adenauer Forst or Wehrseifen, for instance) and if you do, short shift to 3rd ASAP.

2. The entire section before Aremberg can be done with minimal braking. Tap them if necessary. Let the crazy aero and the power of yaw guide you.

3. Don't forget to activate low-drag mode in the final straight. This will allow you to reach 370-380 mph.

And if you are attempting this challenge with a DS3, you are beyond mad. Props though. ;)

Going by that last sentence, I'm completely off my rocker then. :P:D

I tried both wheel and controller, fair to say I went off at the first corner because the car needs the steering lock of the wheel.

I basically took a glance at this and went "nope."

Going to buy it instead. 👍

Just watched the fastest replay....

I genuinely have motion sickness from that, I'm glad I just bought it now...

:ill:

Had an off before I even started the lap.
Managed a "wave to the crowd" cruise to get bronze that ended with a silver with a DS3 and no abs or TCS ... and sensitivity at 7.

I'd quite like it if you could fix the Active Aero to stop wafting about like a granny in hot weather.

I guess you should run it with ABS and TCS and Magic SRF grip-o-matic -

Once you get dialled into how the car handles and what you as a driver need to be doing. and how the car will react. I found it pretty hard to place the car on the track the active yaw aero helping then sometimes not giving you anything.

If you can get smooth with this, you should be able to scalp the opposition.

Physics called. It wants its law back.

How does that sound so good? Do you have your Sound Environment options on Home Theatre or something? Compared to my sound system, that recording sounds so amazing. :odd:

As for the event, I went off and bought the car first-hand to try it on other courses first before tackling the Nurb. I'll be trying the Seasonal tonight to see if I can survive.

Mine sounds like that- I run an optical cable from PS3 into an Integra receiver. You can also run an optical from your TV to a receiver, but that's not going to be as clean. System settings are standard, receiver runs in one of the Dolby settings.

I've heard an HDMI running thru the receiver (PS3>Receiver>TV) is even better than optical.

That was just straight from the PS3 into the Hauppauge recorder using the multi-out socket on the back of the PS3. I haven't changed any settings anywhere.

3:58:187 and I think I can knock another 10-15 off but man is it hard on the hands. This challenge is fun but I don't think I would want to run it with multiple cars as it's tough to put it exactly where you want it. It's a case of tolerences and in my case that could be 4 feet either side.

#1 in Canada for now and 9th for North America and 53rd world. I don't have the guts to hit the button anywhere but the final straight and I'm thinking you have to to hit 3:30:xxx. Good luck everyone,I hope you hit your targets.

That is EXACTLY where I rolled my car, for the same exact reason. I don't have a digital video recorder or I would have provided a clip of the roll last night.

Damn. Hit the grass after the bend in the long straight. Red lapped 4:40.

I just need to slow down and complete a lap. Gold seems no more difficult than bronze. Finishing is the hard part.

Ok I managed a 4'41. Something.

Here's my tips.

The car drives like a downforced viper with obviously wayyyyyy more power.
So if you accelerate out of bends, the rear will push you out.
It's an almost mid-rear feeling.
Whatever gear you are used to using, use one higher.
So if you come to a corner and your GT instincts tell you to be in second, go in in third.
Also, short shift short shift short shift.
Example.
Breischeid hairpin is the slowest corner in the lap, it's after the three rights, (miss-hit-miss) and I would typically approach it in third the grab second or maybe first to pivot around the left turn of the hairpin, then grab a gear up as I exit, whilst steering right.
IN THIS THING, I approach in third, brake and grab second, three tenths of a second later the corner exit comes into view, the car bogs down as you short shift to third, and thus is way more controllable as you power out.
So in short, make sure to shift up everytime you exit a corner, even if it feels slow, and try to take it easy through the twisty sections, barely ever using second gear.
I did that, and of course, hit the silly button on the straight, and passed the line almost twenty seconds clear of gold.
However, I will say that this is the worst combo I've ever tried on GT, and it has left me really disillusioned with PD altogether.
If you look at titles like Pcars, then look at what we loyal GT fans are being fobbed off with, it's a no brainer really.
I should order a ps4.
Anyone want a mildly used G27?

:irked:👍
