Gobble, gobble, gobble . . . it looks like a giant turkey rushing around the Ring.

You may have to practise that entrance to the coop, erm, pit. I see you got a little more confident in the latter half, but then overconfident in the last quarter, otherwise nice drive in a fantasy car for a guy who usually drives stock.

So . . . beater or sleeper? :D

Actually, a member here PM'd me about my controller settings. It appears my sensitivity was +5, and changing it to -1, along with TC5 instead of my TC1 really helped. 5:26 on the 3rd lap. I'll never get gold, but hell, I'll take the silver!
For the first time I can ever remember I used ASM in a race. I was 20 odd secs off gold and figured I'd try it just to get it over and done with. Worked for me. 4:41.379.

Sounds like sex. I'll stay in bed where it's safe.

Well, I guess I can't postpone it any longer. I need to go and flagellate myself with a Tomahawk.
Some say they were stuck with it for two hours.

Off to ruffle my feathers at the Ring, then . . .:nervous:

The other two Tomahawk events just annoyed me. I got bronze and was done.

This, though... Surprisingly, I actually kind of enjoyed this.

My first (clean) lap, I babied it. Braked at the first hint of a corner. Never really gave it full throttle outside of the final straight. Got like a 6:03 or something. Emboldened, I pushed it, got DQ'd, started again. I spun the car about 1/3 of the way around the track. But since I managed to keep it on the track when I did so and when I did my 3-point turn, I wasn't DQ'd! Ha! Pushed it again, got a 5:48. Went back and did it again (after taking a short break—my hands can't take that much white-knuckle driving ) and I'm down to a 5:32.3. Very close to silver!

Now, granted, I have every driver aid on, but I don't really care. This car is as fake as fake gets and there's no way my reaction times can keep up with it. I'm probably at like 5/10ths of its limit, even when I've hit mine.

So, like I said, it's rather surprising—I'm not a big fan of the Nordschleife and was actually dreading doing this. But for some reason, I kind of enjoyed it.

I'll have to take another crack at it tomorrow night and see if I can get silver.

After a few DQ attempts I put TCS to 10 and cruised to get a feel, just gunning it on the straights and not braking till the apex, and got bronze first lap. That's me done with this, just need to find that other game I had which called itself the ' real driving simulator', if anyone remembers what it was called let me know.

Only made a few attempts and finally finished a lap . . . a red lap at 7:32! :D

Bought one yesterday and did a lap at Route X. Used the aero button (nitrous) and saw 421 mph down the hill. On the level I think it was at 418 mph. Release the aero button and it slows quite a bit.

I'll give it another go again later this morning.

I do appreciate a "real simulator" most of the time, but these exercises in technical design are a fun escape and really get you to focus your eyes farther down the road.

First clean lap yielded a 6:24. Pretty sure I can bronze this thing, but man it's tough. I basically grandma'd it all the way around and never gave it more than half to three quarters throttle. As far as the brake, I barely even touched it (no aids, ABS at zero because I'm a masochist).

That's one twitchy son of a gun.

3.45 1st completed lap.

Took an hour or so to get used to the sheer speed and work out what was happening with the low speed understeer (car won't turn with any brake applied), but after that just a matter of completing the lap. Back half of the lap was just coasting.

The car handles incredibly well, but nothing to do with driving IMO

Another VGT to stick in the stockyard and forget about.

Those sub-3:30 laps are just insane. I just did the event about 15 minutes ago and it took me an hour of babying it around the track (and getting DQ's every 5 seconds) to score a 4:33.

Just Improved my 3:58:187 to a 3:47:142 good for 80th.

Stotty no offence but it's not possible to coast on the back half and get that time. I know I had to push the entire way. A lot of the folks here are trying their best to lay down a gold lap so let's be honest with them. If you ignore the wheel shaking the car goes where you point it. The laps I did the other day I didn't catch on to that and was fighing the wheel but today I didn't and the time above was my second lap but 1st green one.

It's very possible to lay down a sub 4 minute lap on your first lap but there aren't going to be many that do. Don't let that get you down just keep trying and you will get there and even if you don't you will come away with better hand/eye coordination and most certainly be a better driver for having accomplished it.

I'm 57.5 and have very bad arthritic hands so if I can do it I bet alot more of you can too even if you don't think so. JUst relaxe and have fun with it.

Thanks zocker_16

What wheel do you use as I love the placement of your buttons. I pretty much have to take my right hand off the wheel to hit mine as I can't get my hand into position to press the button with my thumb. I have a G25 but have that shelving rubber wrapped around the wheel so I can hold it. Did you have FFB turned on?

Last but not leastly, great lap, very controlled. Thanks again for the video I bet it will help a lot of people.

Had another go with the SRT VGT.
This time i recorded my lap live with two cameras and put it together into a multi view video.
Laptime is half a second slower than my record but who cares
Wow. Don't know how you did it.

Were you holding down the low-drag button the whole time? I swear the aero on the front fenders looked almost tucked away most of the video. Maybe I'm crazy though—that mode may disable it altogether when it's on. I wouldn't know since I refused to touch it outside of the final straight.

It's nice to see you in the Seasonal Forum again, @Stotty! I get the impression that you haven't been spending much time on GT6 these days. Either that, or you've just been staying off GTPlanet. Whatever the reason, it's always nice to hear your opinion on all things GT6. I agree with you completely regarding this car. Frankly, I feel this way towards all the SRT VGT cars and most VGT cars in general.

Each session I get closer and closer! I'm at the point where I could run a clean lap, but have yet to do that. It's because I keep having conflicting thoughts each corner, deciding whether to baby it, or just say 🤬 it and go for gold to get it done and over with. I try to at least balance out both to run at least at a theoretical silver pace. I've managed a red 5:15 earlier, so all the more I expect to gold within the next couple days !

I have resorted to using all sorts of aids, which is unusual of me. TC 1 (0 feels alright, but 1 I can really just forget about any potential wheelspin), ABS 1 (I'm sure 0 would feel fine but I'm not gonna risk it), and even ASM! I've considered mild active steering, but that might mess me up like SRF sometimes can.

It's been plenty of times already, but going faster than comfortable seems to help in most sectors. When I try to baby it, I have time to think, and end up thinking too much, so my reactions get twitchy and I go off because lack of focus I guess. When I gun it, it feels like I flow with the track better, although I still require even more concentration. But because of the intense focus, I just have to react; as if I let most of the driving go in to autopilot and I only focus on track position. Speed, gear, I guess they don't really matter to me. As long as I can see, no, feel that I am on my limit and the lap hasn't been DQ'd, I keep going. Only other thing to think about is the DRS/low drag mode on the biggest straights (I try to use it a little on strips other than just the Döttinger Höhe straight).

I did several granny laps which barely got me a bronze. Never thought i would get silver on this let alone gold it, but yay 4:55.xxx. DS3 user, directional buttons, auto box, traction 3, steering sensitivity 5 and aggressive attitude. Almost a good a feeling as golding the senna events....

Let her rip, floor it and hang on.

I'm using the Thrustmaster T300RS wheel and managed (after MANY attempts) to get 4:54.433 Gold.
The longer I drive that car on that track, the more I start loving it (love the track anyway)!
I watched the replay of one of the World's top leaders (#1 at that time, don't know if he still is #1 and forgot the name), but I noticed one thing:
During the whole round, all the flaps were closed all the time!!!
So maybe that is the key to be REAL quick on the Nordschleife with that car!?
As I am using a wheel, I could not drive the whole round with Nitro Button pressed down, I guess the trick is to tape the button to the wheel so it is pressed all the time, spoilers and flaps all closed for the whole round...
Will give that a try soon, just for fun, will see how it goes!

Here's my lap:

I had nothing but red laps in my first attempt, but I gave it a second try last night and managed a 4:47.xxx.

During my first try, I realized that if I could exit the Karussel by 2:45, I could cruise in 3rd to the final straight and have time in hand to get gold.

On my first and only clean lap, I exited the Karussel at about 2:40, left it in 3rd, and drove very cautiously until the final strait.

It was a fun challenge, and my streak of getting gold on every seasonal in GT6 is still in tact. However, I probably would have given up if I didn't have a wheel.
