Is there a definitive source where standard cars do have a cokpit view/interior views? 👎

PD/Sony are the only ones I would trust when it comes to GT news. That magazine uses the same info everyone else gets.

Ok I want to point out something that could help with this. If you look very closely at the Rome screen shot you will see the “standard” muscle cars. in those screen shots you can see the driver holding the steering wheeling and you see a dash BUT everything else in the car is blacked out. I think this is what PD is saying about the interior its detailed like the cars but still lacking. anyway just look at your screen shots. and I think its funny there is no screen shot of a standard car where its pointing into the dash of the car from the out side. I think PD just wants to keep everything and show us all at Gamescon or Tokyo games show my best bet is in Tokyo. Anyway this is just my theory on the subject.

Someone posted a magazine article on the general news thread which included an interview with Kaz.
On one of the pages headtracking using the eye-toy was explained and it said this feature will only be available to use on the 200 cars which have cockpits ( yes it said cockpits ).
It also said the 200 Premium cars were the only new cars to the series, meaning of all the cars newly introduced in real life over the past 5 years only 200 ( which also include classic cars so the total number of new cars is less ) will be in GT5.
So all Standard cars are basically cars already seen before, no new ones added.
This is ofcourse already expected ( or feared ) but it now seems to be the most likely scenario by far.
So don't get your hopes up again please, well you have to decide for yourself ofcourse but I won't be fooling myself again unless hard evidence suggesting or confirming otherwise is right in front of me.

That same mag said all cars where going to have Cockpit, but because they messed up with the IRL statement they are now discredited This is what i was told by members when i put the article up about all cars having cockpit. I'm not saying i disagree with you. 👍

This thread is all speculation, obviously nobody truly knows the situation as otherwise this thread would have stopped by now. If we all knew that the standard cars don't have a cockpit view everybody would agree and move on. So until it is finally cleared up, which could be until the game is released, we won't know.

Okay, might have reacted a bit too quickly and not checked the facts thoroughly enough.

You're completely right and I apologise if I did suggest this statement to be final ( think I left some room for doubt though ) but we indeed don't know for sure but I'm leaning towards the negative.

Oh no, I wasn't directing that statement at anybody, I was just expressing opinion on the whole subject. Sure I would love to know now if the standard cars have cockpits but until a truly reliable source explains it all there isn't much to form an opinion on. I don't even use the cockpit view, but it would just be nice to balance out the game.

Nah man from reading that Its def going in the direction i don't want it to go , but when i posted that they said it was going to be cockpits for all cars folks came down on me hard. I read the article and it clearly says 200 cars with cockpits so thats pretty clear to me, we will have to see at the next gaming events. 👍

It's a sad fact really. A real shame for us that prefere that view. When I purchased my wheel and got great satisfaction from it, I vowed never to go back to playing with a pad.

I feel the same with regards to losing this viewpoint.
I only hope we get a decent bonnet cam atleast.
I know the 800 odd cars will have some sort of working headlights, do you guys think that might mean a bonnet cam or still just a bumper cam showing two streams of light out in front, if you know what I mean.

As I am the biggest fan of cockpit view for the immersion and feel you get of actually being inside the car, the next best thing if this isn't possible is a proper hood cam that provides a view as if a camera was put right up against the windshield (showing the entire hood from a driving standpoint). The view that we have in prologe only shows a tiny % of the hood and is a view as if you are sitting on top of the car.

Ill take that!

That brings up a point regarding weather effects( if included).
The premiums will have working wipers I would assume.
Standards will get left behind again in this regard.

That's something that crossed my mind as well. I'm still more thrilled to see how PD went about the headlights issue. You know, balancing premiums' high/low beams to the standard cars' 'standard light' without putting one of them at a disadvantage while racing at night.

Why would only premium cars have only working wipers? Standard cars have working lights. It wouldn't be any different imo. I think they'll have wipers that work and a cockpit view, even if it is blackened out. I say it'll have a generic 'black' shape close to what the cars look like in GT PSP but a bit more defined.

Standard light could also be HID right? If a standard car has HID as standard lights they would come with them right?

HID headlights still have high and low beams, though. I think whether a car should come with HID headlights or not should be corresponding to its real life counterpart.

Maybe the standard cars will have high beams only, because that way, you'd be able to see just as much during the night with a standard car as you would with a premium, but driving behind another driver and not switching to the low beam will definitely feel awkward.

You know, it may actually mean that PD actually was crazy enough to make the high and low beams of premium cars look like they do in each car. With brighter and darker areas and shape that match their real counterpart. While the standard cars only have a generic light that looks the same in every car.

I guess if standards don't have a cockpit view, there is no need for the wipers since we will not see from behind the windshield.
I really hope there is a cockpit view because this is gonna look really cool while driving!
It doesn't seem too promising though.

I have a feeling that wipers will owrk on all cars. If the wipers of the 787B in GT4 shake going down the Mulsane straight, I would assume it wouldn't be hard to make them move. In fact, it's not that hard to make them move. It's basically creating a simple bot that moves in a specific pattern and area. Games from the Atari have done that. The hard part is getting those wipers to effect the rain/mud/snow and stuff on the windshield. (I wonder if bugs will splatter on the windshield.)

*smacks himself in head* Duh!
He's right. If there is no cockpit, then there is no need for working windshield wipers.

Ok so in the other thread about standard vs premium, Im making a point about the castrol supra from 95 or 96 in gt5 and the 787B, are they premium cars? If they are and they are from GT1 or GT3 than it makes sense that the standard cars which are cars from previous installments aren't just 'ported'.

Well, I think the Viper GTS is going to be Premium and it's been in the GT series since GT1. (It would also seem that the Viper is actually going to come in factory colors this time, which are Viper Red, Viper Black and Viper Yellow for the '98 GTS. Each of these colors has stripe options.)

WHy do you think that?

The Viper in GT5:P is an '02 model. I'm sure there are different color options for each model. Just one very important question (for me). Does the '02 GTS have blue/white stripes as a factory color option?

Why did Dodge get rid of the blue/white stripes? I have despised every GT since GT1 because of the lack of that color option and don't drive the Viper as much as I did in GT1 because of that :( . Hopefully we can at least have a custom color option in GT5.
