Steam sale thread: Summer 2017 Edition

I don't know if it's any good or what but Thunder Wolves is currently £2.44 on Green Man Gaming (it's a Steam key) when you use the code. WRC 3 is also £4.99 without the code, so I make that to be just over £4 with the code (it's -20%).

Last game/dlc release for me is on the 12th. So I am guessing it will all start that day or the day after.

I really want RoTT+apogee pack and Mortal Kombat plus the Duke platform pack. Not to mention Larry reloaded.
I only miss Jazz Jackrabbit on Steam. :P

I say the same about people who have yet to aquire Killing Floor or Left 4 Dead. I will never buy Half Life. :)

I might get violently banned from the internet for saying this, but I can't help but feel Half Life is just a bit overrated as a series... To be fair though I played them for the first time many years after they were released so it probably didn't have the same impact.

Killing Floor is a great game, it's weird though; it should suck - it's just a fairly mediocre shooter with practically no AI, poor graphics and map design - but it doesn't. I guess it's just one of those games that's somehow far greater than the sum of it's parts.

got half life 2, will practically pay for itself once i collect and sell the cards

I thought that about They Bleed Pixels, I picked it up for £1.74 while the tickets were selling for £0.50 each. Before I'd even gotten a single drop the prices had crashed because everyone else had the same idea... I waited for a little while though and nearly got my money back; four cards sold for an average of 40p each.

The NFS games are on sale too for $6 each. I recall the same thing happening a few months back actually so I hope the sale comes by for Simbin.

There are people on Steam who don't have the Half Life collection? Madness.

I don't have them but I have played them at a neighbors house and during school. A friend brought his flash drive into school one day to play Halo, Counter Strike, Team Fortress, and Half Life 1

I'm not sure what the fellow meant by that post but I doubt that those games will drop that low regardless.

Do you mean you don't think the Simbin Bundle won't drop to $5? It's £26 here and Simbin's stuff has always been reduced to -75% in the big sales which would make it £6.49. Not quite $5 but it's still under $10, and that also means the average price per game and DLC is ridiculously low. I am assuming, of course, that it contains everything made by Simbin that's currently on Steam.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't bother with the NFS sale if I were you. -60% means it can still get cheaper, so unless you're desperate to play them right now you might find they get cheaper again in the sale.

SUMMER SALE starts tomorow. ouch to the walet

I think Half Life was a great game, but that it hasn't aged well.
As for Killing Floor, you're right. It really should be crap. But it's just so much fun, mainly due to the shooting mechanics that are surprisingly great. It's challenging, and I've currently logged a total of 208 hours playing the game.

It is a game best played with friends though.

I kindly ask everybody to buy Half Life 1. Its 🤬 brilliant.
The Black Mesa mod, although not finished, is already available for free to anyone who has a Source engine game. I didn't get to the end of it yet but they did an excellent job.

I never bought the first Half Life because of the dated graphics.

Yeah, the bundle won't drop that low as $5 but still be close to it. I just thought making it that low was a bit too cheap than what Simbin wants from their games.

I figured so.

Well here we go. This'll be my first Steam sale so we'll see how it goes. I have $200 in coins to deposit tomorrow, and I get paid on Friday, so I should be OK for the sale. Hoping to stay under $100, logic is I'll buy enough games to play until the Winter sale, because after Christmas the weather won't be nice and there's nothing to do but watch hockey and play vidya.

Summersale tomorrow!!!

At least they say so...

Steam servers are probably gonna freak out! :sly:

Yeah, they usually get absolutely hammered for the first couple of hours of the sale. I'm going to rely on third party sources for information when store update time comes, it's the best way.

Well, good luck. You've had longer between getting started with Steam and your first sale than I did so you might not fall into the same trap that I did, but my mind was so overwhelmed with the cheap games (bearing in mind that I swapped from PS3 to PC almost instantly so I went from £30 games to £5 games almost straight away) that I stopped thinking and started buying.

I like to think that I've gotten wiser as time has progressed, but in truth I think all it is is that I don't have enough games left to buy (in genres that I like, anyway) to even possibly be able to spend significant amounts any more... Steam has broken me and my wallet. I urge you and anyone who will listen to not fall into the same trap, don't buy more than you can reasonably play in six months!

Well I guess I'm just hoping to spend less time playing video games next year at school, at least before the winter. In the dead of winter there really isn't much to do other than intramural hockey and drinking beer (and both at the same time) so that'll be the time to sink hours in to games. I mean, even if I buy nothing I still have Borderlands 2, Civ 5, and Starcraft 2 that I've only just scratched the surface of. Most of the games I want are new or not out and probably won't be on sale until winter anyway (Rome TW2, Company of Heroes 2, Civ5 Brave New World, Skyrim Legendary ed.)

The Black Mesa mod is very well done, however not finished and a lot of the game is missing in certain areas. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it. As for the first Half Life, the dated graphics almost add to the charm, nothing is too complicated and detailed and there is a true sense of adventure from when you step off the tram at the start to when you head to the borderworld (Xen) to kill the being keeping the portal open to earth. Fun stuff, better than any game I've played since actually :embarrassed:
