Steam sale thread: Summer 2017 Edition

The Fallout games will definitely be part of the sale, it's almost no exaggeration to say every game except for new releases and a few other oddities (possibly Early Access games too, they weren't around in the last big sale) are discounted for the duration of the sale.

The thing is, you should never buy anything that isn't in a daily, featured or flash sale until the last day, because there's then a danger that a game you buy on day one at 50% will then be featured at 75% and you'll feel like an idiot. But generally speaking, games at 75% or more off won't get any cheaper.

Also someone on another forum I frequent came up with an interesting idea. Buy everything as a gift and add it to your inventory rather than actually giving it to anyone; that way if you never get round to playing it or otherwise regret buying it, you can transfer it to someone else. Seems like a wise move.

I have been a member of Steam for a few years now and eventhough I look forward to the sale I (as some others here) do not think that I will use so much money this time as I have previously.

As for now I think I own most of the games that I am interested in, the others I have purchased before. I love the sales though, I spend most of my gaming time on MP, but I use the Steam sales to secure myself a nice backlog of SP games for a rainy day.

Lately though I have become much more realistic in what I purchase in order not to spend money on games that I will never play, though I will be fair to myself to say that I have not wasted a huge amount per se in that way, and I still have around 15 games that I look forward to play that I have not even touched yet, so in this sale I assume I might pick up a few cheap indie titles and perhaps NFS shift, though the only games I will look for is perhaps Batman Arkham Asylum and Dishonored.

I probably won't buy anything over 10 dollars, and for that price I'm expecting Skyrim + all extra contents, GRID 2, and maybe some other games. I don't think it will happen but if it does I'm here. :D

Yeah, there was one (gamer appreciation (lol at EA appreciating gamers)) a little while ago with a lot of fairly popular games. The mass effect series was discounted, Crysis 1 was $5, 2 was $10 and 3 was $20, Command and Conquer, Battlefield 3, etc etc.

Looking forward to getting home from work tonight and spending all my money.

Annnnnnnnnnd Steam is down. :sly:

Right now I'm depending on you guys for the news, I can't be bothered with all this refreshing.

NO WAIT YES I CAN! Pathetic really, it's not as if it's first-come first-served, yet I must still see the deals now now now.

Is Bioshock a daily deal? Right now I'm looking at Bioshock and CS:GO for today.

Yeah, I missed it because I wasn't sure. On my Mac it's showing the price but not the discount percentage, so... Yeah.

Nothing really grabbing me today, but if you don't have Hotline Miami you MUST buy it. Please. You'll probably love it.

I notice almost everything Simbin has made is 50% off right now, I reckon that means there will be a daily deal on it at some point. It might be an error but Race On, which isn't even THAT great, is the only thing not discounted at the moment.

Not a big surprise that the Steam servers are down. Happens every year.

Nothing exiting for me yet, if the things Neema posted is the only ones on sale so far.

I hate to say this but Bioshock is apparently cheaper on Green Man Gaming today. Might not be applicable to the States but with this code: GMG20-F202F-UI40F it's £12, about £5 cheaper than Steam. Obviously if I'd known that I would have said so before, and I'm only posting now in case anyone else is tempted. Oh and it's a Steam key from GMG too, so it's effectively the exact same thing.
