I'd like to see the following car/track combo sometime in the future:
The car: Shelby Cobra - stock everything except for having simulation tires on all 4 corners.
The track: Laguna Seca - just a hot lap

Oh, and no asm or tcs - it would defeat the purpose.

I like the division titles the way they are, as it's a bit demeaning to be considered a beginner. I'm sure some of the "Beginner" class drivers have finished the game 100% anyway, so they're not really considered "Beginners"

I always hated being in "Ametuer" class. :irked: I always have to to check how to spell it because I'm dumb like that:banghead: :lol:

Fans of the Cobra might want to check out this short Cobra series with fully specified settings, just started over at GTX:

IROC XIX

They're not on Sim tires yet. :lol:

Alright guys... :D

Division titles will remain the same.

The next race will definately be a hotlap.
...
Now it's just a matter of what car to use.

I had some people suggesting a road car in the 500hp range. (tuned to 500, not stock at 500)

I also ran into some suggestions about race cars. The astra was brought up, but right now, I would like to run an nsx more than an astra.

So what do you all think?

Raybrig maybe?
Arta maybe?
Castrol ? :indiff:

Well, I would also love to run the calsonic skyline or the zexel skyline.

So, um yeah, why don't you guys leave your thoughts, and if you don't like any of the combos Im mentioning, just suggest something better. ;)

Now Im gonna go find out what track we need to run.

Later. :D

That's not a bad suggestion, and infact it is really close to what I just ran for the fun of it...

Just now I ran the fully tuned ZZ2 on ssr5 reverse. :lol:

A fun run, but I just wasn't feeling it the way I would have liked to.

However, since you're the only person to suggest anything in a long time, you may see your suggestion as the next race, or atleast something close to it. ;)

I do love some deep forest. :D

I just ran that too actually... ran a stock xj220 in the pd cup at df2 just to get in a few laps. (still an overkill race of course, but fun none the less)

I wouldn't mind running df2 and I have been planning on fitting df in sometime, but I just hate the damned lighting on df2. That orange sunset kills my eyes in combo with all the shadows.

Side note: wouldn't it be nice if we could control the conditions like time of day and weather?
:drools: damn that would be nice.

Sunshine every day on every track.
And rainy apricot hill races wouldn't be bad either. :lol:

Hey, how about linking 2 or 3 races together?
using the same car , with vastly different tracks? you could allocate points for where you place and then have overall winners per division.
just my 2 cents

How about something difficult?

Arcade Speed12@Monaco? any takers? 3 lap race preferred and no TCS/ASM

Or maybe I could gouge out my eyes with a rusty butter knife...either one would be equally enjoyable IMO.

Anyway we used the arcade Speed 12 a few moths ago at Grand Valley.;)

Indeed, well said.

But frankly, I think a rusty spoon or oyster fork would work better, and they would also be suiting considering how fast the speed 12 can be.

The perfect match... a speed 12, poking your own eye out, and maybe jamming a pencil in your ear.
👍

Since this is a suggestion box, here is a suggestion. I know the idea has already been suggested (I did a search for that) but I don't know whether it has already been run or not (didn't search all 64 previous races, and race 65 is my first one).
I'd like to run a track and its reverse, and the submitted time would be the total of both hot laps.
Something short with a fast car wouldn't increase by much the time needed to run both races.
Let's say for example, Apricot Hill in a Calsonic Skyline.
Anyone else fancy this ?

Further to Week 66 thread and FF car propositions.
It seems that many people would like to drive the Celica TRD Sports M (max 425hp).
What about some Volkswagen Cup Car ? The Lupo (max 287 hp) or the Beetle (max 420 hp) would do fine.
And on what track ? I'm still voting for Apricot Hill.
(I post it so often that it'll be chosen one day just not to have me write again that I like it :lol: :lol: )

It's about that time again... That's right, time is running out for this week's race and that means it is time for some suggestions.

Right now, Front/ Front championship sounds like a likely candidate for week 67.

However, I'm not sure about how to keep that race even, so if you guys want to post new ideas or ideas about how to keep a front wheel drive championship even, just post it here.

Any advice is appreciated. :D

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by even. How can a FF championship less even that a MR one ? Perhaps the most even championship would be not to try and be as fast as possible but not be as close as possible to a given time.
Let's say something like : "run a hot lap in 1'25.000 on Midfield Raceway".
You could choose any car, the only goal would be to submit a time as close as possible to 1'25.000.
That would be so even that the overall winner could be a division 3 driver :D

More seriously, why not limit the modifications ? Something like a TRD Celica Sports M with any parts except NA/turbo tuning and running on T7 tires. That would only leave the settings and the driving to make the difference between drivers.

When I said even, I was talking about between different cars.

Taking Front wheel drivers as an example...
The trd celica can blow the doors off the spoon civic simply because the trd can go up to *425hp, then take the civic and it can only hit *375hp.

That just wouldn't work out as an even race for the civic, so the first thing I would do is limit the power of the celica. By limiting the power, or the pwr, the celica might not end up with a major advantage.

Now with that said...
The reason I asked you guys about how to keep it even was because I do not know that much about front wheel drivers in the game.

The xsara would have to be ruled out, but after that I have no clue about which cars would be able to win with an overkill.

So what I was wondering, with regards to a Front/ Front challenge is, what cars to include, and how highly tuned they should be?
Also, what the limits should be, pwr, power, what?

Thanks again for the help and suggestions.

btw, the 1'25.000 thing you mention (flat-out), has been mentioned before, and even though it is a good idea for real life racing, I don't think it is a good idea for this format since the overall goal in this is to be as fast as you can for each lap. By saying, get as close to 1'25.0 as possible, I would be limiting the lap times of the fastest pros and that is one thing I don't want to do.

Anyway, just go ahead and address the stuff I mentioned about keeping a f/f race even, or just suggest something new...

Either way, have fun and make it quick cause today is the last day of week 66. :mischievous:

Okeydokey.
Obviously the FF challenge won't be for week 67 since it requires some more thinking/testing to get a proper list of cars with even chances. I'll try and take a look at it then, unless somebody already has a good overview of the FF panel in GT3.
And since Kent, you don't have GT3 right now, you won't be the one who does this.
Concerning the 1'25.000 stuff, I'm not surprised it had already been thought at : do you know if there still something going on related to this ? A kind of permanent challenge to reach some predefined time or something like this (I know, I could do a search). If that's not the case I think I'll post an interest check (and if nodoby is interested, which I suspect, I'll just run it again against myself :D ).

Since I couldn't race neither Week 66 (already submitted) nor Week 67 (not yet posted), I thought at this FF Challenge idea.

I selected (almost randomly) 4 FF cars :
- Honda Civic Type-R
- Toyota Celica SS-II
- Acura RS-X type S
- Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 24V

and modded them without exceeding 360 hp.

Power / Weight
Civic = 348 hp / 934 kg
Celica = 346 hp / 1014 kg
RS-X = 356 hp / 1111 kg
156 = 354 hp / 1122 kg

Then I set the gearbox on Auto 30 (middle position) with the final drive also on the middle position. I didn't touch any other setting, and ran 5 successive 1000m runs.

1000m, average of 5 runs
Civic = 24.4
Celica = 24.3
RS-X = 24.5
156 = 23.9

Finally, I ran (with the same settings) a hot lap in free run on Midfield Raceway.
T1 / T2 / Lap
Civic = 24.5 / 47.7 / 1'19.2
Celica = 24.3 / 47.4 / 1'18.6
RS-X = 24.4 / 47.5 / 1'18.9
156 = 24.3 / 47.4 / 1'18.7

The Civic engine needs high revs to work properly, so an average gearbox setting was a handicap in the uphill final part of the track, which explains the 0.5 gap. This should be solved by better settings.

It seems to me that the 2 following conditions :
1) FF
2) max 360hp

should give a pretty good list of cars (between 6 and 10 cars would be more than enough) for an even FF challenge.

Edit :
I excluded the Celica TRD Sports M because I couldn't set it just under 360 hp on the first attempt : the engine upgrades provide so much power that there is no much left for other upgrades and I thought the car would be unbalanced.

Any extra ideas to improve this are welcome.

Here's one for you gokents,
this week has been a good lesson in throttle control for me, so how bout a race with a different kind of throttle control

SSR5 wet with an overpowered FR car with sports tyres?

we've run the SSR tracks acouple of times latly, so maybe this would be better in a few weeks

Well I have a question for you guys.

I am setting up a little something, but the theme is sorta based on semi-racing.

So I want to know, if you were running a high torque f/r car, with under 500 hp, what sort of drive train parts do you use.

Specifically...
Clutch- single, double, triple
Flywheel- sports, semi-race, racing

I didn't want to go with racing all the way around since there are other trends in this setup that I haven't mentioned yet, but you all will get an idea of what I am doing shortly. :mischievous:

Let me know what you all think about those parts.

Also, let me know what you think about this idea.

A race idea I haven't seen since BC3.

Low - Mid powered front/ rear with no adjustable parts, but upgrades for all of the non-adjustable parts. That includes all of the clutches, flywheels, brakes and what not, but it also puts up the possibility of a 1.5 lsd as well as sports transmissions.

Anyway, what do you all think?

Remember both subjects...
The parts questions
The tuning for race questions.

:lol:
Thanks.

Ooooh oooooh oooooh....

How about a Fairlady ONLY race, say 2 or 3 laps, limited to, lets say 500 or 600 Horsepower (or specified parts).

The 300ZX's are fun to drive, if memory serves me correctly. I'd say an open walled track (GVS, Midfield etc)

Other suggestion (another 'overlooked' car) TVR Griffith.
Mmmmm how about 'S7' EXCEPT with tuning :cool: Like Unlimited (no hybrid) modified Griffith on SSR11 (yes even though we are running SSR11 right now :P )

Alright, I wanted to give a reminder cause guess what? The deadline for week 67 is in less than 3 hours, and right now, I only have 1 race in mind. :mischievous:

Keep in mind that I am always down for suggestions, but if I don't get many of them the race may be decided solely by me.

What I can tell you about the race I have in mind is actually more like hints.

What is today? (monday of course, but in america it is memorial day )

And what is this sunday? (june 6th mean anything to any of you? )

memorial day and d day with in the same week of one another... So yeah, that could possibly add up to one hell of a nationalistic week. ;)

And you all know what nationalism from me could mean. :mischievous:

Waiting for those suggestions. :D
Later.

Yea I would prefer LSR to Seattle right now, or would I? Actually I don't know... how many laps? 1, 2, 3? :D

a 500 ish Hp RWD American car on an American track sounds like fun, as long as it is NOT the Cobra, cause that car is a HUGE pig. Well at least in this game it is.
