Yeah a liscence test would be great, a nice one IMO would be the GT40 around Seattle Circuit II, that was a fun test , or maybe on eof the I-A tests.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up.

Week 72 is coming up soon... right now is a good time to suggest ideas for next week's race.

Of course, don't forget about Famine's stats thread so you can make an intelligent suggestion. ;)

-Later.

I'm feeling quite clausterphobic after the narrow streets of Monte Carlo... can we please have a race on a wide open track!

Mid engined or rear drive european car at ssr5 wet, hot lap or multi lapper i dont care

aston martin db9 vantage or a vanquish, tvr griffith, lotus espirit

t5's max, no supersofts PLEASE!! :):):)

First off, that is a very specific race, but an interesting one for sure. :mischievous:

However, the tire thing... :indiff:

I don't see a point to using hard tires.
They just drive like crap.

You're not trying to put some sort of handicap down are you?

I'm thinking it over, trust me.
If you only knew.

Trust me. :D

I'll second that. And add that we were at Rome in week 69 and the Maze in 70. No more walls, please. :scared:

I would suggest Apricot (last: week 43) or Grand Valley II (last: week 45). Thanks Famine. Your stats rocks. 👍

I'll leave the car suggestions to somebody else. :)

How about deep forest? Maybe in a fully tuned Tickford Falcon XR8?

@gokents lol, nah im not tryin ti get a handicap, its just if u use supersofts, there's just TOO much grip, and defeats the purpose of racin at ssr5 WET. i WANT cars to be slidin around, to get a good time, you need to have good car control, therefore it is a test of your car control. im not askin for T2's or nuthin, T5's would be good.
as for hard tyres drivin like crap. wot tyres do yuo do most of your racing on?? the only time i EVER buy T8's is for OLR hotlap's. i do end up using t2's most of the time, so i guess im used to it lol. but PLEASE, if you do this race ever, i BEG you , dont use supersofts lol. :) :) if this race dosnt happen soon, no worries hey, but id love it if you could do it one day. lol, ill post it in the suggestion box every week until you do haha. j/k's.

@blake, as much as id like to run in the tickford, me being an aussie ford lover, its been run a few times i think, earlier on

Alright, well just to let you all know...

I saw an aston martin db7 in my little old town this week.
I also got about 5 days of serious, flooding rains this week.

:mischievous:

That would have confirmed the race boone was asking for, however, the wall issue is a good point.

I'm gonna have to put us on something more wide open this week.

But an aston martin on ssr5wet will be in our future at some point.

With regards to the tires I use...
I use the tires that are right for the race.
5 laps = t6 maybe
10 laps = t2
15 laps = t5 (with 1 pit)

However, for standardized olr and the weekly race series I am always on super softs.
Not just because they provide the most grip, but also because they do not hinder my enjoyment of the game.

Struggling all week with no traction sucks. (just ask me at the end of week 71 :banghead: )

Just to be fair I will give you guys some crap tire selection, but nothing will change in the week... Racing suspension setups will still rule, drifting will still be slower, and everyone will still take the same lines they already would have.

Only with crap tires, everyone will get the frustration of trying to find grip where there is none.

However, like I said, you will all get the pleasure of driving on slick tires.
And boone, you better compete that week (whenever it may come... I will give everyone a warning too. :D )

:D
So this is what we are looking at...

Mid engine - Rear wheel drive
Any power level (I am impartial to any level of tuning)
Any car, race or road.

Make some suggestions about that because here's the deal...
I have the list of car/ tracks we have run since I took over.
This week needs to be mid rear and the track needs to be one that is right based on the cycle of track usage.

So...

Suggestions please!
:D

btw, you guys shouldn't pay attention to this hater... I'm just not a fan of odd tires in olr.
Don't let me get to you. ;)

Double post, I know. :ouch:

However, I just wanted to point this out...

boone_501
@gokents i WANT cars to be slidin around, to get a good time, you need to have good car control, therefore it is a test of your car control.

This is every race.
Except for the sliding around part (unless you're running no tcs in the vertigo :mischievous: ).

But in general, every week is a test of car control.
I just want to mention that because it seems like every-so-often there is someone talking about needing real control, or real skill to win the race.

My contention with that is, every single race we run the winner of the week has to put in an excellent lap (most weeks), and to say we need a race where car control matters is the same as minimizing the efforts and product of every racer who has put in a great lap for any of our weekly races.

It's just like the argument that arcade cars level out the competition and make it so only a really good racer will win.
Well the fact is, every week it is a good racer who wins. Regardless of tuning or the lack there of, each week has a winner that puts in enough time and effort.

Another way to get at this would be to say...
Each week, regardless of the race, the most skilled racers willing to put in the most time will win.

So basically, if you want to race on skill and not something else (whatever that could be), then just race any week with us.

Btw, what in the world could lead any of us to a win besides control of the car and skill?
I can't think of anything.
So quit with the let's make this a test of driver skill crap because every week is a week to test driver skill. :mischievous:

ok 1st off, thankyou gokents, for agreeing to run the race i suggested. 👍
and i can see the need for a race with no walls atm lol.

secondly.... ummm maybe i didnt chose my words correctly or something, but man, i wasnt trying to belittle the effort you guys put into this, you guys produce some AMAZING times, which shows the amount of time and effort you put into it, and i respect all of you for it.
the whole "car control" thing, wot im tryin to say is i think it will be a good challenge trying to tame a high powered car on a wet track with lower grip tyres, i just though it would be a good idea for race is all.
im sorry if any offense was taken by my post, none was intended

Not to worry, I'm just a little whiney mod. ;)

However, you do have a good point about high power and low grip.
:mischievous:

Soon enough we will have that. ;)

For now though...
Mid engine rear wheel drive.
What car will it be?

It is in your hands now. (collectively amongst the group. ;) )

Later. :D

got another sugestion for a race, lol (this one not at all contraversial)
umm ... a wide track that hasnt been run in a while... grand valley reverse, i dont think its been run since week thirteen (i may be wrong lol)

the car?? hmmmm... mid engined.. has a Zonda been used in a weekly?? would you actually want to use it?? lol lotus Espirit?? what about a VX220?? nice little pocket rocket.

Good work there boone

Lots of ideas are coming to me thanks to your efforts.

Keep it up 👍

The rest of you might want to take a lesson away from this... Remember, there have been weeks in the past where only 1 person made suggestions and guess what happend... those suggestions became races. :D

Hope to hear from all of you very soon,
Later. :D

The Zonda Race Car was used in Week 24, and also in some of the "multiple choice" races. I vote for the C12S - High power, No grip. :)

ROAD_DOGG33J
How would we get four lap races?

Discounting Super Speedway, there are four lap races in Simulation (GT) Mode:

Amateur Evolution Challenge; SSR11.
Amateur Altezza Race; SSR11 and Grand Valley

Of course, I'm a complete freak and I'd vote for a 20+ lap race... :D

How 'bout we break out the gt40 road car or a nice xj220 (race or road). I wouldn't mind an MR2 GT-S, TommyKaira ZZ-S, Lotus Esprit, Renault Clio Sport, RUF 3400s, or Speedster, either. hehe....he

The track could be DFR II, maybe Midfield II.

An MR2 or the JGTC MR2 would make an interesting choice, since it doesn't have as much power as most of the cars driven in the WRS, so smoothness would be paramount.

Otherwise, an F1 race is always entertaining for everyone (VERY fun cars to drive)

Yeah, I like the idea of the Autobacs MR-S, but I saw it was already used. I think it would have been a great match with Cote D' Azur or the Renault Clio race car(which was already used as well).

So if we do a big, wide open raceway,
What kind of power would you all like to see?
And what kind of downforce would you all like to see?

Thanks for getting back to me on this one before the end of the night. :D
Later. ;)

Power....don't really care maybe over 300 and not stock

Downforce could go without it on a street car, but at least .80 on the front is good

It's that time again!

Time for more suggestions. :D

Week 73 is fast approaching and I don't have anything specific in mind for the race, sooo....

Get those suggestions coming in whenever you can, I appreciate anything you all have to say.

So until I hear back from you all, good luck on this week's race. :D

I don't have a suggestion since I probably won't be racing next week as I want to finish the last 4% of GT3 I have remaining. But if it's a good car, I definitley won't pass up the race, whatever it may be.

What happened to the Aston Martin around SSR5 Wet idea you were keen on? Not that I'd love that so forget I said anything.

Since I don't know where Blake is I'll shout "S2000 at Laguna!" on his behalf.

I've got a certain 4wd car in mind, but I'm gonna test it before I put us on that for a week.

As for the aston, I'm still thinking it over, but at the moment I'm still not to keen on the idea since non-super soft tires were such an important part.

Fact is, I love to run hotlap races and when I do it is usually with as much grip as I can get.

If I was gonna run something on ssr5, I would want to run something with 4wd. Does anyone here remember that boom race with all the rally cars on ssr5?

That was a race that I skipped out on and thinking back I wish I hadn't.
It would have been perfect for me since that is one of the few tracks I rarely run for personal enjoyment.

On that same note, I did run the super license test with the trueno on ssr5 wet. 👍
Not a bad little combo.

:D
Anyone remember boom's "Initial Dee's Nuts" race?

Well that's enough of the old days.
Catch you guys in a few.

btw, I'm really glad to see quick reponses.
That's the sort of thing that pulls weight... I mean, how many times have I come in here and warned that suggestions may result in future races. :mischievous:

Anyway... later. :D

It's getting late now and I really need to know...

Should we do a wet run?

I hate the track, I feel like it's slow and just not as fun as the dry version.
However, I do like to give the majority of racers what they would like to see... so let me know what you would like to see.

Hopefully you all will pick something good. :mischievous:
Otherwise I may have to pick something all alone. :grumpy:
