Actually, I find the main straight chicane to be quite annoying and troublesome. That is probably the main reason I hate Trial Mountain. Tokyo on the other hand offers 3 or 4 long straights that will allow the Speed 12 to exceed 170-180mph (main straight, back straight, straight leading to the sweeper, and final straight before the final 2 or 3 turns of the course).

But still, Trial Mountain is a much more suitable place for the Speed 12 than, say, Monaco

TwinTurboJay
here is the greatest race, Mini Cooper, stock form, on Test Track... 50 laps...test your skill mates
Which means a 3h20 race, not counting the pit stops. Sorry, that doesn't fit in the WRS format.

How about: Fully modded 745HP Aston Martin Vanquish on Midfield???
The car is fine, but we ran on Midfield Reverse last week, so there is no chance Kent chooses the same track.

flat-out

Ah, very observant wise one.

I have 2 tracks in mind.
The car is the problem. :ouch:

I'm thinking that with this track it would be nice to go with a race car.

Just my thoughts on the matter though. :sly:

Hopefully you all will come up with an interesting pick... I mean, with 80 weeks having gone by it might get hard to find a race car we haven't used (one that we want to use ;) ).

So yeah, catch you all later and until then,
-

Looking for a racecar?
How about the RX-7 LM to continue on with the nice Rotary theme we have had for the last couple of weeks?

It was used back in week 22, but I think that is far enough back to not really matter.

Race cars 'we' have not used:

P002 or F688
Chevrolet Camaro Race Car
Ford GT40 Race Car **
Jaguar XJ220 Race Car **
Lister Storm V12 Race Car **
Opel/Vauxhall Astra Race Car
Opel/Vauxhall Calibra Race Car
Spoon Sports S2000 Race Car
Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version

** - indicates that the car has been used, but by choice and not widespread choice.

The Astra DTM car sounds like fun. I remember it being a challenge around Grand Valley with 700-odd hp way back when the WRS first started. I just re-won it for fun the other night, but haven't had a chance to take it for a spin yet.

I like all the suggestions fellas. 👍

Let's see...

JGTC.. I like it, in fact, I love it.
Too bad those always end up as one car races.
The denso just outclasses them all. :irked:

But Im gonna be working on something fun.
Hopefully I will figure it out before the race needs to be posted. ;)

Till then,
later. :D

Uhm.. depending on modifcation or if its the arcade version of the JGTC's there are some tracks where the Calsonic/Loctite will beat out the Supra's... and I think there is even a track or two where the NSX's will beat the others. For instance, go ahead and try to beat the best Rome Circuit time in an arcade Denso or Supra :P

Oh, and I forgot... how about we use something other than the JGTC's anyways? We have used them in like a dozen of the weeks.

JGTC seems fine. If the Supras are faster than the Skylines and NSX, what about a car/division association ?
Div 3 would run in a Supra, div 2 in a Skyline and div 1 in a NSX ?

@ Kent : since you have 2 tracks in mind, I support the one with grass around rather than the one with walls. :)

All points taken! :D

Just one thing...

I don't think there is a spot where the skylines and nsxs can take the supra (denso).

Don't get me wrong...
If the racer is better than the time will be better.
(just look at the top 2 spots of complex string at rl... vertigo and S2000LM, all cause of the racer, arco).

However, I have done testing of my own on a few courses and regardless of how well I did with 1 of "the other" cars I could always beat them with the denso.

Plus, just look at all the past week's with the denso and other jgtc cars as choices... any time we did that it was a 1 car showing.
And frankly, after the MRS ruled the day a few weeks ago I have no evidence to support the idea that racers would pick any car besides the "fastest."

However, just to be fair, I will indeed try to race the denso at rome...
I will even compare 10 minutes of racing that combo to the full week of racing I did with the calsonic at rome in week 69.

So yeah,
Back later with results from that comparison.

And keep up the suggestions.
I love the fact that you guys actually help me out by suggesting stuff... it doesn't always make a huge difference, but it usually does. ;)

The NSXs will take the Supras in an Arcade mode tyre wear race. The Supras will get 4 good laps and a ropey 5th. The NSXs will get 6 good laps, a ropey 7th and slower, but consistent laps after that, thanks to more even tyre wear.

I'll second that. Let's drive something new!

... could have been replaced by...
any sort of actual race suggestion

Sorry, just mentioning that I would love to hear what you've got on your mind.
Is someone trying to hint at a DTM car.

I saw the astra mentioned earlier. :mischievous:
Also saw that we have never used the Calibra. :mischievous:

One is much better than the other, but even with that being the case, we could through in a few other choices.

Would you all preffer a single car?
Many people complain about the mutli-choice races, so for now I am planning a single car race.

Also, multi-lap?
Trouble always comes up with the ai. :(
Maybe I could just set up an overkill race with no chance of not beating the ai before turn 1?

Well, get back to me with your thoughts.
Till then,
-

Oh, btw, I am going to run the denso some more on rome... I never got to experiment with that combo since I did Der Alta's instant race. 👍

Back soon with some results hopefully.
I would like to beat my calsonic time. :mischievous:

Well honestly it's hard to choose a car w/o knowing the track.
I think the car should compliment the track to make it an enjoyable drive. For instance if we were in the Lister this week I'd be cussin' up a Storm (hehe).
The RX8 with 394hp was an excellent pick and I'm REALLY enjoying this weeks drive.

As far as the JGTC cars getting "old"..... NEVER.
I literally laughed out loud last night trying to control the fully modded RX-7 LM around Midfield.

From TML's list of un-used cars thus far and w/o knowing the track, I'd prefer the Camaro Race Car, Jaguar Race Car, Opel Astra or Opel Calibra. In that order.

Arcade SS R11. Look here http://db.granturismo.de/gt3_arcade_track.php?classid=8&trackid=21 and play spot the Denso.

Grand Valley too http://db.granturismo.de/gt3_arcade_track.php?classid=8&trackid=8

I know you're doing a SSR11 race now, but the Denso's are beatable.

Are those arcade times?

But yeah... that ssr11 stat is great proof of the fact that the supras are beatable.

However, I still want to stress that the supras are the best for most people on most tracks.
Just my opinion of course.

But take note..
Between the time of my last post and this one I ran with the castrol supra @ rome 1'17.397 clean.(arcade car)

And that literally took me about 10 minutes (I think)
So yeah, the supras are definately the car to beat (imo).

Although I must admit that I love to see something other than the supras at the top, so I loved those links.

Great looking site what ever it was.
Maybe I will sign up and start working on some times. :dopey:

Back after another session using this castrol, It's actually kinda nice. 👍

I'm not a big fan of the DTM cars, I ran the CLK DTM car in one of the sim mode JGTC races, and it's handling is simply inferior to the JGTC cars. Can anyone say understeer?

Kent, that is gt.de www.granturismo.de They have an arcade car database as well as a GT4P database. I use it whenever I'm in an arcade car to see how far away from the best times I am :D

Ev0
Can anyone say understeer?
Understeer. Yup, I can. 👍

Nah, the Astra and the CLK DTM are just as much fun as the JGTC cars... the Calibra on the other hand is a little bit harder to use, as its AWD and has quite a bit of understeer.

And as for the JGTC's and 'equality' when you are running arcade mode, or unmodified sim cars (no engine upgrades) yes the Denso will usually edge out the other's with the Tom's close behind, but there are a few places where the Supra's are plenty beatable, or even the supra's cannot come close to the others, it just depends on the flow of the track. However, with unmodified sim cars I can get them all real close on any track because of the settings :D

Oh... and as for suggesting... I say a DTM or DTC (whichever you want to call it) SIM car, with no power upgrades, any track will do just fine, as they are all fun in those cars (except Monaco :P)... oh... and how about "Choose one of the three: Astra, Calibra, CLK" ?? :)

:D NOT trying to be a "Nit Picker"...but we DID use the Opel Astra in WRS #7! (Of absolutely NO signifigance...it was the VERY First car I drove when I discovered GT3!!!) ...UB57:D

Sphinx starts to think how nice it would be if Grand Valley Speedway was on the cards for next week

Well that can be ruled out then ;)

:D NOT at ALL!!! It's been 73 weeks since then...My vote's for the Astra going the other direction @ GVS! Those of us who will have run both directions can compare times & see if we've improved! ...UB57 :D

Seriously though, I'm all for another race at Grand Valley, it's my favourite track in all of GT (1, 2, and 3)
