So, I just went for a drive in the Nissan 350Z Gran Turismo 4 Limited Edition (Z33), and man. What an awesome car in Arcade mode fully tuned! I went around the ring a couple times, but I think it'd be good anywhere... Including the 'Ring! :sly: :sly:

If I was going to drive at the ring again I would want a slow car.
It would have to be in GT mode so we could tune it. Maybe we
could use something like the Honda Z ATC, or the Subaru 360.
The 360 would be harder because of it's oversteer but that's ok.
But any small car at the ring would be ok by me.

i'd like to invite colby to share his overview of tracks and cars used and unused for wrs with us. in that way - maybe in combination with the excellent 'vote your wrs combo' idea from erkk - we could widen the list of used combo's.

I've been driving around the TVR Tamora a bit... could be a very fun car on Road tires, though I haven't had time to check it. Plus it just looks AWESOME. Whole reason it got added to my garage was the looks. Suspension changes have made drive alot better too.

Cyril already did that here. You can see what's been addressed since then.
great, thanks colby.
you could take two cars from the suggestions box and two tracks from the never-been-used list and let the wrs community decide what they want for a future combo?

I say this pretty much every 2 weeks. But we still haven't done an ice race yet.

I like the Z on Ring idea but I would really like to see...

R-tune .vs. Z-tune Arcade full quick tune @ Nurburgring

Celica GT-Four Rally Car at Chaminoux (sp?)

PWR FF Race at Grand Valley East

PWR FR Race at Grand Valley Reverse (GT wings and S3s)

HP cap at Fuji ? (GT Mode street cars)

Street Car .vs. Race Car (get creative) ;)

Chamonix would be great!

I completely argee.

I am constantly bewildered how everyone here wants to race around the Turdburgring, I don't know why, because it's a challenge? Because they think it puts hair on their chest? But as soon as I mention ice, everyone goes and turns into a bunch of soft genitallia. (Can I say **** on GTP?) Edit: No

I've only been suggesting it for, I don't know, 14 months now? You shouldn't ignore me just because I'm painfully good looking. That's Sexyist. And that's illegal.

That's it. I've had enough. I'm going to bed.

Just because of that post I'm going to have to disagree with the Ice suggestion.

👎

Turdburgring? How about you try to respect others as you'd like them to respect you?

Definately not cool and for that matter, allow me to go further and say, "watch your language."
Do I need to explain that or have you already understood that your words were unacceptable? And don't think the swear filter can save you (ask Leadslead#2 about that... if you can find him on the GTP... I think he's banned).

In any case...
I strongly suggest we do not do an ice race.
Showing such little respect for others in the process of complaining about your race not being picked just makes me want to puke. :yuck:

I'd love a race on Ice Arena, but Chamonix is just too tough. It's longer than Grand Canyon, but with reduced grip. Mastering a single clean lap on Chamonix takes more concentration to drive a 2-lapper on the 'Ring...

I don't exactly agree with that (about mastering 1 lap on cham being harder than mastering 2 on the Ring).

But any way...

On the Ring...
Corvette Z06 vs Viper GTS '99 (N2, only oil change, all non-power mods)
Mercedes SLR vs similar pwr lightweight car (same mods as above)

Just want to mention that there is no need to be scared of the N2 suggestions above... All of those cars do really well with N2 tires (well I'm not too sure about the GTS'99).

So yeah, those are some suggestions for the Ring. I'd love to see them. 👍
What I said earlier about the Ice racing still stands. :sly:
Still sorta honked off about it too. :irked:

(well I'm not too sure about the GTS'99).
Hey now, that's the one that I would've picked... You can't just go and toss up a combo without trying it! :P

Ice would be interesting... If you hit the walls right you can go super fast. I think an ice week would be doable, maybe. I'd give it a whirl.

I'm gonna have to go with Brad on this one, I don't think its 'fair' that we do the Ring a ton of times b/c its a challenge and totally disregard any other challenging tracks because its a rally track...imo of course.

But I did have an idea for the Race Car vs Street Car, I'll try and explain it and I think its never been done before....I think...

For Example:
Race Car - Corvette C5R Race Car Stock
Street Car - Z06 Fully Tuned
Course - Laguna Seca
Mode - Arcade Hot Lap
Rules - Your best clean C5R lap, your best Z06 lap. Winner is chosen by subtracting the street car time from the race car time and the difference between them is subtracted from the sum of both laps.

C5R - 1:15.000
Z06 - 1:30.000
Calculation - 2:45.000 (sum of both laps) - :15.000 = 2:30.000 Final Time

Just an idea....

I like the street/race idea.

Just a note on the calculation, though. In the example that you show the total lap time will always be double the C5R's time.

Turdburgring? How about you try to respect others as you'd like them to respect you?

I think I've said much worse thing about the track before on here. I still think (hope) I have respect of most WRS'ers on here. It's just a little running thing around here about how much I hate that track.

Showing such little respect for others in the process of complaining about your race not being picked just makes me want to puke.
I'm not so much complaining. Even though it may of come across that way. I just don't see how we're coming up to our 90th week of WRS and we've still left a whole type of track out of it. Yet done the Ring and El Capitan about 6 times each.

Because they are better tracks in the eyes of most. The Nurb I feel is an excellent track for running, but annoying for the WRS due to its length and combination of areas. I have similar thoughts about the 10 lap race we are running now... too much time to redo a run when you mess up at the end, and I don't have that kind of time.

In regard to Chamnoix. Its a great ice track, and I do enjoy it. However, it requires a level of precision most of the WRS doesn't want to deal with, and doing a clean run there would be a PITA...

Though I did have an awesome idea regarding it...

Give us a kei car, like the Cappucino or Kei works, to run at an ice track. Small cars plus low power on lose conditions could actually work... I have iced raced my EA21R before, and its actually quite fun I think... and I was using the DFP for this.

I can see why Kent would think your post was a bit rude Brad but like you say, the regulars would have found it an amusing continuation of your battle with the Nurb, I'm certain you meant no malice towards anyone and Kent (like myself on many an occasion) is just being protective.

If the ice race idea is supported well enough then I'll post an ice race. The idea that errk put forward of having a poll with different types of events is a good one and that might be where we can propose an Ice race and see if it gets enough support. I don't know if it'll happen this week or even before next year to be honest but it's all there in my mental queue (right behind Natalie Portman :sly: 👍)

Keira Knightly > Natelie Portman

Nuf said there.

I'm in favor of the voting thing as well, so give it a spin ;)

Keeping with the topic of the thread and nothing more...

FFs at Grand Valley East
FRs at Grand Valley
N2 Ring Battle
JGTC Skyline of Choice at Laguna Seca
LMP at Sarthe I
FRs at El Capitan

👍

FFs at Grand Valley East
N2 Ring Battle
JGTC Skyline of Choice at Laguna Seca

I like those three a lot. I remember running a personal competition with Darren and Ben, with the TVR Tuscan Speed 6, N2 tires, -10%power and weight. It was extremely fun (for me), but so extremely tough... Perhaps a low-power battle?

  • Old-school RX-7 ('85-'95) Vs. 4WD Celicas, N2s, Nurburgring
  • Alfa Giulietta '65 Vs. Ginetta G4 Vs. Skyline Sports Coupe + Powermods (Battle of Antiques, with some HP Changes to balance the PWR), N2s, Nurburgring

The Skyline of Choice is neat, kinda like the NSX of Choice early on... But it might me a bit of a problem, since two of the JGTC Skylines, just like two of the JGTC Supras, are much more powerfull. Perhaps Arcade-mode with power-adjustements should fix it?

About the FFs, Here's my suggestion:

  • Unlimited choice, Arcade mode, stock power, -10%, 175HP limit
  • 200HP Limit, GT Mode, PWR limit.
Because as long as those include the Renaultsport Clio, I'm happy.

Keira Knightly > Natelie Portman

Agreed.

dear lord, if we must do nurb then please let it be in something grippy 'cos otherwise it'll be a breakingpoint competition like never before.

i like the ff suggestions a lot but think there should be a pwr limit or else everybody will drive the same car in no time.

about your clio, metar, you could always race here to get your kicks.

But that one's the Clio Racecar...

EDIT: I've tested some cars I always wanted to try. Suggestions:
First off, I'd like to apologize for the Anti-snow. I've tested some (extreme)low-power cars, and found them enjoyable on Chamonix. Alfa Sprint (The boxy one) has the weight of a kei-car, with ~130HP Arcade-full-tune and as long as you don't spin it, it's wonderfull. As long as it's not over 250HP, it's easily manageable (Lancia Delta Intergrale Roadcar fits perfect). It's a bit tough when power is above 150, so I suggest, perhaps, the Honda Element. If you need more power, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 and the Homologation-spec Toyota Celica's fit well.

Also, Some "Showdown" suggestions:
  • British Super-Coupe Battle (Arcae/GT Mode): Jaguar XKR Coupe Vs. Aston Martin Vanquish Vs. TVR Tuscan Speed 6 Vs. AC Cobra 427 S/C
  • British Lightweight Showdown (GT Mode): Ginetta G4 Vs. Marcos Mini Vs. Lotus Elan Vs. Triumph Spitfire 1500
  • British Le Mans Competition (Arcade Mode): Jaguar XJ220 LM Edition Vs. Lister Storm V12 Racecar Vs. Jaguar XJR9 (With Handicap)
  • German Super-Saloons (Arcade/GT Mode): BMW M5 Vs. BMW M3 GTR Vs. Audi RS6 Avant Vs. Mercedes SL 65 AMG Vs. Mercedes E55 AMG Vs. Audi RS4 Avant
  • German Regular-power Battle (GT Mode): Volkswagen Bora 4MOTION Vs. Volkswagen Beetle RSi Vs. Audi TT Coupe 1.8T Quattro Vs. Audi A3 (3.2 Quattro)/S3 Vs. BMW 330i Vs. BMW Z4 Vs. Mercedes 230 Kompressor Vs. Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II (Cossie power!)
  • Antiques (GT Mode): Mercedes SL300 "Gullwing" Vs. Jaguar E-Type
  • Aussie Showdown (GT Mode): FPV Vs. Holden
  • Hypercar Showdown (GT Mode): Nissan R390 GT1 Roadcar Vs. TVR Cerbera Speed 12 Vs. Cadillac Cien Vs. RUF CTR2 Vs. SLR McLaren

A bit long, but a lot of those are cars I've enjoyed driving around, and, more or less, match in power and weight. I reckon 5 the choices are a bit open, and on some of them, the winner will be an easy pick... But I especially liked the Jag XJ220, or the British Lightweight.

And one last:
  • Jaguar S-Type R @ Nurburgring, Complete with Jeremy Clarkson Effect. The thing flys - No understeer (On N3s, that is), and this whizzing sound... And also, it shifts quicker than most racecars, and does that smoothly!

Get over it. When I was stewarding BC5, the first GT4 board comp, we came up with all kinds of interesting car/track combinations. All of them got voted down by the race teams and we ended up with the same old same old. The same thing happened in precisely the same way last year at BC6.

People don't like oddball combinations or strange conditions. So don't pitch a minor wobbly and take it personally.
