What does a stage 4 turbo cost for one of those anyway? More than he's likely to ever afford.
It's not like I'm going to manage any better than 5th in the series - I'm not really in the same race as korza.
Week 7 musings.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RS '99
351hp / 1146kg
Last weeks races showed that a new gearbox would be vital for the high speed ring and the long straights of Fuji and New York, but that didn't leave me much for power mods. I eventually settled on a racing exhaust and an oil change.
1) +4 clicks on the gearbox turned out to be more than enough for Trial Mountain, but the uphill nature of the back straight keeps the speeds down anyway. The corner at the top of this straight though saw a lot of sideways action in the first race, and a little more in the second. I got it together for the final race and shaved six and a half seconds off my first race time.
2) My gearbox settings (above) turned out to be a perfect guess for High Speed Ring where I managed a top speed some 25mph faster than before and never quite hit the rev limiter even in the draft of a Viper and Zonda battle.
3) I was not happy with Infineon. I kept falling off the track and this time I cannot blame the car. Finished all three races knowing I could have been quicker. Don't expect to pick up many if any points here.
4) Repeatedly watching the Vipers and Cobras run away from me on the straights of New York makes me feel that I stand no chance whatsoever against the Camaros everyone else seems to be running.
5) I never saw the Viper starting beside me at Fuji until he pushed me off the road entering the braking zone for turn 1, so at the start of the next race I paused for a moment before swinging to the other side of the track and got into a pileup at the apex of the same turn. The third race was also untidy, but I think I hit the jackpot leading the pack of supercars home by 7.777 seconds!

Ok, I want to check a few things out here.
There isn't currently a Mazda RX-7 Type RZ (FD,J) '95 on sale in the used car lot on my current gameday. (3506)
I do have in my garage a Mazda RX-7 Type RZ (FD,J) '95, however, this one was the lowest mileage example on sale with just 28488.9 on the odometer (28492.9 now showing) purchased for 19800Cr.
Given that this is way beyond the limit at which no more permanent power loss occurs (and Car-Less after his extensive testing should be able to clarify that this reaches a peak at around 9000 miles) and the car shows a garage HP of 231HP which is what hot_shoe had initially listed, and the chassis will be well & truly bent by this point (I left the car absolutely stock, for this entry:

That said, if anyone has objections, in the interests of fairness I'm prepared to eat the difference between my 19800Cr purchase price and the 13859Cr price of hot_shoe's car, 5941Cr total, out of hot_shoe's remaining budget of 21723Cr, which would leave me with 15782Cr of spending money for this week.
Let me know by tomorrow so I can budget, spend and race accordingly and hopefully get some times in before the deadline. 👍

You'd have to wait until day 3550 in a PAL game for the first cheap version to appear in the used car lot, but as I said before the mileage only seems to affect the price unless you have a 6.2mile example.
My power loss testing showed most cars to have reached maximum engine wear somewhere between 9,000 and 12,000 miles though I think there was 1 car that lasted slightly longer. All used cars (except the 6.2 milers) are well beyond that in mileage so in my mind there is no difference other than financial.
Personally I have no objections, but if others do then you could just put the 5,941cr down as an admin fee for registering a driver change.
It has miles on it other then a 6.2 mile version. It would be nice if you could match the price, but we aren't going to hold you up on that account. Drive the car, you don't have to part with any money on the difference. I'm treating it like a purchased used car from one of the other drivers, you even get one free oil change.

I'm hoping to get my times in by 3-4am, is that okay. I have a lot of work left on my preventive car maintenance, on my newly acquired car. Almost done with the Trans. Filter change (waiting for the fluid to drip out now), after that the Water Pump & Thermostat which may take awhile, then spark plugs & wires, which should be quick.
Hoping I won't have to take a DNF for this week.

Been running my Top Gear times today. Got to build my Mazda and run it now...
3rd Circuit
The 3rd Circuit continues. We will be spending most of the week at one raceway. We will race three versions of the Fuji Speedway. Then its off to a nice quiet track at El Capitan for the most scenic race all season. Then we head back to Japan for a classic road course. The tracks should test every car and driver to the utmost as they hurtle towards the finish line.
