Weekly roll could go higher each round. Plus the greatest impact could be made by allowing a one time 90% trade-in on your car, for those really dissatisfied with their original car choice. Also you could have 7 sponsor's of differing values, sign drivers randomly after each circuit, the greater the circuit the more lucrative the sponsors. But all these suggestions depend on exactly how powerful you want cars to get throughout the season.

I'm kind of with GrumpE, but not so steep.

1) The weekly roll should stay the same when multiple tracks are raced, but should increase for each championship round. This way more 'outside' income is available when less 'racing' income is.

2) The 25% resale price offered by the game is too low. Whoever heard of someone buying a new car, driving a couple hundred miles and losing 75% of the cars value? I'd be happier if the numbers were switched, i.e. 25% depreciation and a 75% trade-in value.

3) In order to prevent the winner from running away from the rest, maybe the winner each week should miss out on the random roll. Think of it as either giving their earnings to charity, spending it all celebrating so there is nothing left for upgrades, or even being too busy with interviews etc to find the time to earn any 'outside' income.

4) Whatever you do, keep it simple. Your 2nd method is way too complicated and the potential for mistakes is too high. Even just adding sponsors has the potential to take away from driving ability and make the whole series more a game of luck.

I don't mind what it is, as long as you can save up money and make it simple enough to understand

No: 1 is the best of the ones up there IMO, simplest is best.
As mentioned above the vehicle changeover costs are to high, 75% sounds pretty good to me and maybe 50% back for any upgrades as well.
If it were me, I'd also make the weekly 1D6 at least a 2D6 for anyone sporting a FWD layout.
You could also consider throwing some ballast at the podium positions, if you really want to start trying to level things out.
Also, while I know that by the final race the cars will all be fairly quick, I think the process of going from stock to track day special, should be as gradual as possible, I quite like the slow pace and lack of funds for upgrading.

My 2 cents

Seems everyone likes the simple method #1 and I agree. The second method might be more fun for a more even playing field in a different season where most of the big expenses are already done.

The resale values I took straight out of GT4 since we are using their pricing structure for everything, including the points and payouts and parts. About the only difference is I rounded up to the nearest whole number.

As for car change I was shooting for around the first week of the 3rd Circuit or the start of the 3rd Circuit. The way things are going for the FWD cars we are fighting over the table leavings. Which puts the ones who don't need it able to change cars and the ones who do can't. Wether its completely the cars or the track for the first circuit championship had to many turns in it or what that is still debateable. The other cars are running out of options for upgrades unless they want to buy some sports parts or save up a lot of money.

Even if some of us lose the first two circuits, we should have a chance to come back in the third circuit and still come out on top. Which is why a change to something is needed to keep this competitive.

I voted for #2 before I saw Car-less's post. I guess the real driving simulator needed extra realism.
