Next Round Laguna Seca

Enjoy this great video of a 1959 Corvette racing at Laguna Seca during the 2014 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion:

We still have a vacant grid slot available for the first Reserve driver to claim it - @XK50 this is your chance to try out your new Chaparral 2D in race 3 - you will also need a Ford GT40 for races 1 and 2 (The 1967 Three Ten Cup). If any more slots become available I will send out a message to any reserve drivers online at 17:05 on Sunday.

Attention: @Sutsagrd @Cu3e @TonyLomas @S_Bridge and Zmihalik

have u still got that spare slot mate?

It was lucky day for me- Again!

At first 2 races, I was 3rd in the class and in 2nd race, I had a nice battle with Eran, Sutsgard, IfAndOr and Tarnheld.

At 3rd race, I accidentally hitted Max in Corscrew Corner while I was going to overtake. Sorry @nonka :(

But I had a amazing battle with Lex which he had crashed with John. In the final corner, I thought that the Lex was going to overtake me, but because I had done a early braking, then his late braking allowed me to pass and then, take my checkered flag after in previous season on Rome after I battled with @TLE_152.

Sick.

Thanks for letting me race at short notice.
Really enjoyed the gt40 races. I would have done better if I didn't make so many unforced errors.

I find the xj13 a handful. I thought I had tamed it but then mad oversteer struck again.

Shame Flaco got DCd.

Thanks again. Hope to join again if family and space allows

Race Impressions

Apologies to everyone for my errors at the approach to the "Corkscrew" - normally I drive patiently and pass others when they are off track, but today my ambition exceeded my talent. I got my gearing spot on with both cars and because it is a slow track I thought I could make a good start in the GT40 in second gear, however that slowed my start. Maximusmonster spun sideways in front of me a few corners later and I had nowhere to go except into the side of his car, after which I found myself even closer to the back of the pack. In race two I was behind Harsk on lap one and knew my GT40 was faster than his GT350. As we approached a red GT40 that was having a bobble I thought I could make up some places, but instead I lost control of my car on the brakes approaching the "Corkscrew" and unfortunately dropped from about eighth to about thirteenth or so. Eventually I made up some places, but sadly brakes a fraction too late on the last corner of the last lap and gave up two hard won places to SimbaLora and Tarheld (I think).

In race three I really enjoyed the XJ13 - it really suited the track and eventually I got into a rhythm - anyone struggling with the car needs to try the settings from @praiano63

There were a few too many incidents this week (embarrassingly including a few from me). Next week I will try to race in a calmer, cleaner and more patient manner and it would be appreciated if everyone else also concentrated on trying to avoid contact.

Results and Championship points to follow...

I had a horrible setup for the first race, so before the second race I brought out the hammer and the ducktape to patch up the tune as best as I could. Worked fairly well, I was probably about a second faster per lap in race 2.

Race 3 was alright, but the stock suspension didn't really work well. There was too much sideways actions from me. My GT40 passed the 6000 kilometer mark during the race, by the way :D

Sorry gentleman drove like pr------0 ick today. I have lost the ability to drive to standard that is required and will pull out of championship probably due to my rest from sick' s room performance has suffered. Thanks Max and sorry to all drivers.

Don't do that Max - stick with us - we can all improve together!

Max, it's alright. Mistakes happen sometimes.

Yeah sorry Harsk will disinfect my wheel later, off work this week and will think it over. max.
You don't have to be sorry, Max. ;)

It was also my fault, because I could have waited a little bit longer so you could open space, but my heart kept saying to me: "Overtake Max! Win the race!".

@nonka what's a proick? :dopey: :)

I can understand what you mean about being slower. When I returned after my absence last winter I was definitely rusty. Since then I've been racing in other clubs/series, quite often with stock cars on comfort tyres, which has helped improve my car control a lot.
I can also understand how frustrating it is spinning around out of control making acquaintance with the barriers, I've been there myself. But I've persevered and although I'm sometimes not that consistent, when I try I can mix it with the "big boys" (well for awhile anyway). Hey I qualified in 2nd place in my GT40 without any practice! I'm better without the traffic, having to figure out where everyone is around me confuses my ageing brain.

So we'll maybe see you at the Red Bull Ring then? Shame not to use those expensive cars and that gold GT40 would be missed. ;)
And remember don't get too worked up, after all it's just a game.

Just bought a T150!
Nice one. It was a good saving.

I've been eyeing up that or the G29 from the list but I still haven't got a new PC yet so I'd better prioritise that. They do have one in the sale though...
