Should we all turn off our mics before race start?

Those are good videos. I wish it had mph/gas/brake so I can see how fast he is taking those turns and when he is braking. I noticed that he uses the rumble strips on the snake turns a lot more than I do.

Incidentally, I am going with the Arta NSX. I like the color and the number. Too bad Avon does not sponsor Super GT.

Edit: ran 10 laps with thlogan and Scorpion yesterday before the update. I saw about a 4 second drop at lap 10. Roadrash: is it worse from lap 10 to 15?

At lunch I ran laps in the Arta. I started gaining time after 8. At 10 I was up 4 seconds easy. I kept going until 16 laps just to see! It got ugly after 10 for me though. I wonder if RH would last longer? Anyone tried them?

I'm not too great with high speed corners so I'm looking to just stay consistent and out of the sand. If I wasn't so concerned with matching other peoples 1:57's and 8's, this would be be more fun! Just need to relax and stop trying so hard. This is supposed to be fun right?

Ran hards dont last any longer just less grip. i tried hards in the front.......that was uglier than staying out too long

DJ, on the Mustang v Camaro v Challenger, could you limit it to classic or modern? Otherwise everyone would be running modern cars. I think classic muscle cars on Monza or la Sarthe is really fun. Those cars are great to drive on a fast track with minimal tight turns.

Also, instead of (or in addition to) PP, maybe we can institute a minimal weight limit, say 1400 KG, to be more in the spirit of those cars. To ensure compliance:

(1) everyone would go to the pits;
(2) the host change the restriction from PP to weight
(3) anyone who is kicked out means underweight.

Or......

room is set with with whatever restrictions are approved and you can't get in until your car complies. I think 1400 is good for muscle cars as well if DJ decides to implement.

We are on racing softs only for Suzuka right?

Actually I was picturing modern cars. I was planning on running a Cobra R or my Edge Camaro.

That is a great idea as well. Maybe I'll just add this concept to voting.

To me, this seems like this is fixing a problem we don't really have. I don't care one way or another. If it would help add some verisimilitude than I don't mind, but I would hate to add another layer of complexity to our events.

What do the rest of you guys think?

Just set PP and weight restriction during lobby setup. Quick and easy. Or just run PP like always. Whatever is quick and easy.

JT, the reason I suggested the weight issue is that you can only set PP or HP/weight. You cannot set PP and weight (unless the new update changed that).

DJ, let's run classic muscle on Monza (no chicane)/la Sarthe with sports soft. Should be fun.

Muscle cars on monza/la sarthe good
sports soft-bad
race softs everyone is equal and won't have to worry about playing in the sand

Roadrash, I think we are careful enough to run sports soft.

By the way I still go in the sand on race soft...

So do I friend:tup:

As some of you know we race muscle cars in open lobby at 550PP. At that PP it keeps 95% of the cars equal. Some have more HP, some less weight. But it makes for some really close competitve racing (on race softs):). At 1400kg it will exclude some cars (shelby/ac cobra). Plus we already drove high powered "tanks" last season in the final race. That wasn't really fun...more nerve racking especially because it was in the dark.

I think sports soft tires have there place......light weight low HP cars

I'll race anything I'm not too picky, just giving my 2 cents

What about lower PP, like 500? Then the cars will not be so powerful and if we exclude RMs, that could be authentic.

Although to be real authentic, they should be fitted with comfort hards.

I've not taken them down to 500 so i don't know if it would keep most cars equal. 550 really isn't that powerful, mid 400-500 hp. We tried raising the PP and it didn't work out to well over 560.

Excluding rm's and race cars is ok. Although we allow them in the open lobby.

And to quote logan "comfort tires make me very uncomfortable"

Roadrash, at 530 PP the old muscle cars work pretty well on sports soft. i ran a race Sunday with the 69 Camaro, competing with all sorts of other old muscle cars, at Deep Forest. Tons of fun.

Would anyone be interested to do faster cars, like the LMP on racing soft?

There is nothing authentic about comfort hards. I owned a lot of muscle cars back when I was younger, including a '69 camaro Z28 and a '70 SS454 Chevelle (among others). We did a lot of street racing back then and even on the original bias ply tires they had a lot more grip than any of the comfort tires in this game, they were even better than sport softs, but those are getting close. When changed to decent street radial tires they had much better grip than the game has on sport softs.

I would personally run racing softs on everything. I don't see the need to hamper a car with crappy tires. Seems much more fun to get the most grip and let'em rip.

I would also like to throw in a suggestion to run 2 tracks on race night instead of 1 and just make the laps shorter with 1 mandatory pit per race. It could break up the mind numbing monotony of running so many laps on one track and could also give someone that might struggle on one track an opportunity to make it up in the points standings on the next race.

Wow. I'm jealous. I'd love to have either one of those cars now! I keep playing the lottery, wishing and hoping.

We actually did that at first. We would run around 16 laps with a mandatory pit anytime after lap 8. Turns out that most racers enjoyed the strategy of longer races and dealing with tire wear and we've been doing longer races since.

I feel for those who are always behind and basically hot lapping out of contention (i'm one you you). Voting is going on for a series of sprint races right now in the voting forums and another series of sprint races will be up for voting later on this season.

Oh yeah, I remember now. Just PP it then.
