Supercar Festival problems

Why lay out nearly 150,000Cr for a Ford GT when you're going to win one later on anyway? Seems a little pointless to me.
Then again, I'm wanting to use 5 different cars for the 5 races, which probably seems pointless to a lot of people!

Just tried to enter the RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" after an oil change, and it doesn't qualify. 👎
Reads 493HP on garage screen, but only 486HP on the selling screen. :grumpy:
I've removed it from the eligible with oil change list.:(

Sorry for any problems this may have caused! :guilty: My Yellowbird had a Racing Intercooler installed when I was testing, and I didn't realize it. :guilty:

I'll also edit my previous posts so this doesn't cause a any more problems. :(

Well I"ve noticed that with the Ford GT that you can buy, is quite different from the ones that are offered as prizes. The prize GT versions differ in range from having new paint schemes to having higher or even lower levels of performance.

I know there's a difference between the Ford GT Concept '02 and the Ford GT '05,
the former is less powerful, and is ineligible for this race series since it's a concept!

Is there a significant difference, other than a special colour, between the Ford GT '05 you can purchase and the Ford GT '05 that can be won in Extreme Hall?

So far I've done 3 races, 1 in a stock Dodge Viper SRT10 for 184 A-spec points at Fuji, 1 in the stock Honda NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car for 107 A-spec points at Seoul, and now New York for a measly 5 A-spec points in the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, which is a real handful to drive!
As I've only got 553,000Cr in the bank at the moment, I'm going to have to do the last 2 races on the cheap, although I want to do them in stock cars if possible.
BMW M5, Mercedes SL55 AMG (R230), and Mercedes E55 AMG are looking hot favourites at the moment, and should give a high points yield..... :nervous:

The M5 will get you some high points races, but I couldn't beat them (and not for want of trying). Up against the ZZII, Nardo, Cien, etc it will get 198pts.

I've been re-entering until I get the "easy" lineup for about 150pts - it takes about 8 tries but you get:
Cizeta V15T '94
Pagani Zonda C12S 7.3 '02
Proto Motors SPIRRA 4.6 V8 '04
Mercedes SLR McLaren '03
Spyker C8 Laviolette '02

This lineup against a stock-ish M5 (I've added a racing transmission so I can use those 7 gears and a 1.5 LSD) is challenging but winnable. I was a gnat's whisker off without the mods, and they just tipped it in my favour. No doubt for some of the seasoned gt4 players they'd fare better against one of the harder lineups for more points. Infieon isn't too bad, but Midfield was my sticking point. You need to take your life in your hands for the complex at the end of the straight to make up the time you lose in the straights around the rest of the lap.

Best of luck, Smallhorses. :)

Unless there's a "Glitch" in my game :indiff: (which I really doubt)...NONE of the "Prize Car" Ford GTs can enter this race. I have NOT however tried buying one to enter...O.G.

What? Even the prizecar Ford GT '05 from the Premium Sports Lounge in Extreme Hall?
I know the other 3 definitely won't enter though, 2 of them are classed as race cars, and the '02 is a concept car.

SORRY Smallhorses :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed: I am a :dunce:!!! Didn't have my PS2 on at the time & was thinking of Premium Sports Lounge where it says you must have a Ford GT (among other rides) to enter...BUT I can't find one that's "Elgible" :indiff: ...O.G.

Luck taken & used!

Thanks for the suggestion christofire, after completing the Infineon race in the Mercedes-Benz E 55 AMG, for a lousy 128 points, since it couldn't hang with the big hitters in the field like the Cien, Nardo, etc., I was expecting the same from the M5, since its also a 4 door saloon car with a lard addiction. (i.e. its heavy!)

Bought myself a BMW M5 last night and took it to the last race at Midfield, the one you were having trouble with, and expecting the worst, I thought I'd give it a shot against the first lineup that always shows up after a reset. It's a toughie too,
Saleen S7 on pole, followed by the VW W12 Nardo, the Ford GT, the Cadillac Cien and a somewhat misplaced Spyker Laviolette. Having left the BMW untouched, no oil and still wearing its S2 tyres, I was offered 200 A-spec points for the endeavour.
Wow, was I surprised at the attitude of this car compared to the Mercedes Barge!
It handles fabulously, sounds great and I was able to stay in touch with the field.
After a fairly dirty 3 laps out of 6 I was in a bullish mood and decided to reset and go for a clean race for my 200 points! 3 attempts later and the end result is below. Almost WRS standard clean, there's an incident in the 1st lap where I'm ahead of the Cien coming out of the tunnel and he turns into the back of me, but that's the only AI contact in the game. There's a couple of hairy moments where I had to back off to avoid getting more than 2 wheels off track, and a moment going into the bend after the tunnel where I was distracted by my wife putting down a glass of cognac on the table to which my wheel is mounted, before I warned her that it might not last very long with the vibrations, and all!
So here's the replay, hopefully you're able to view this christofire and it'll provide you with the pointers that you're after to go back and steal the 200 points from this race in your M5 too! (It's in MAX Drive NTSC format.)
Enjoy!

I found a BMW M3 GTR "detuned" to about 400 - 420 hp made easy work of 200 point Super car race at Midfield, Seol and one track that escapes me. (edit) It would have been New York)?
I used a Detuned Aston Martin at Fuji (thanks Small Horses) and a detuned Holden Commodore at Infinion, both for 200 points.
All cars had had upgrades to transmission, suspension and yes I used NOS.

Hmmm, that's difficult to believe, being as the entry criteria for the Supercar Festival is a minimum of 493HP!
Are you sure you're not confusing them with the Premium Sports Lounge races?
There isn't a Suzuka race for Supercar Festival either, it's Fuji.

I edited the post to read Fuji, thanks.
100 % sure of Supercar Festival. Sometimes it pays to do research before posting, Just as I should have checked that it was Fuji and not Suzuka.
You see there is a little trick one can play on the rules. :sly:
Pick a stock car at about 300 hp, and upgrade the power to over 500 hp and then you can enter the Supercar Festival.
Go to the settings menu before the race and you can detune the cars power to lower than 500. You then can enter and still be allowed to race at below 500 hp. The A spec points are based on your new lower than 500 hp figure, thus making it easy to get 200 point rides.

Premium Sports Cars are way easier than the Supercar Festival. 👍

Damnit! That's cunning!
More cunning than some kind of Stoaty-Weasely-Fox type thing!

However, I've been attempting to do as much as possible without any kind of tuning at all, I've reached over 50% completion without so much as touching NOS, and I still have a healthy A-spec points yield.

Thanks for the tips though, I'll be sure to remember it when I go back for the dropped points here!

Not as cunning as trick I know for cheating the Gold passes on license tests for GT1, but this is the wrong place for that.

I have a tip for a stock car race that is a certain win.
Take a stock Civic type R ( I used a 10 km 02 Civic) and enter the Type R race at Motor Sportsland. Re-enter five or six times till you get a field without the NSX. All the A1 Integras and Civics run wide on the corner and slide into the pits at least twice and you should easily beat the Accord type R which seems to stay on the track.
At other tracks with a rolling start a NSX is probably your best bet.
