Monza Online Vid with some punts. Well I must say after watching this back it is not that bad. The person in the Beemer nicely backs off in Parabolica, it's appreciated đź‘Ť The punt only at the end of the straight it happens, maybe due to difference in car/braking power etc?? In front of me some cars got punted. It is not bad to touch and rub but deliberate driving someone of track or smash into them is not ok. I agree with Hereward on the racing part. When you are in the lobby check out the drivers, if you see 1000 penalties you know that player has some tricks up his sleeve

Hi guys. Enjoyed the "lively" racing last night. You wouldn't want to be too sensitive with the likes of Killerermanos and Kingchrissy around! I continued racing after Hereward's lobby closed and encountered another lunatic (AlexiforPresi). AlexiforStraightjacket would be a more apt name! It's a pity the host can't kick these players from the lobby.

Hereward, I'm sure that the grid positions are determined by a reverse of the championship position so that's why yourself and Jizzy shared the back row for most of the races. The price of success eh! It was a bit of a lottery at times starting from the back and trying to move efficiently through the pack. In one race at Monza i went through the second chicane only to find a couple of cars stopped in the middle of the track. I couldn't avoid them and after the first hit another car hit me from behind and sent me head first into the armco. Everyone headed off and left me frantically tapping down the gearbox looking for reverse. Being used to SCC I didn't realise that I just needed to press the O button so by the time I sussed it out it made the chase back all the more interesting!

Finally, there is a lot of corner cutting going going on and Monza's chicanes are always a bone of contention. We had a lot of forum discussion regarding this issue with SCC and in fairness to Eutechnyx they reacted by tightening up the penalty zones. I'm not so sure BlackBean/Milestone will be as reactive so it will be up to us to abide by the good ole GTP OLR in our private lobbies.

2nd edit of the day.....The M5 is going into retirement, it's really not giving anything in regards an edge in the corners or the straights and the brages are not that special either, the ony thing it dose well is fast corners....the last place you wan't to overtake LOL Though it dose look after it's tyres this is good only at the end of the race, not good if you can't keep in contention with the lead pack.

You should try my Merc,

Plus Points
Good in Fast corners
Well balanced
Good acceleration

Bad Points
Not as good as some on the brakes
Chews tyres
low top end

Yeah if it's a closed race, then chicane cutting is a no no, if you out brake yourself then fair enought, thats what that area is there for but just back of a little so as no advantage is gained (self imposed penalty) Lord high chancellor of the bretheren of JaaaG has spoken, no discusion needed brothers, it is how it is.....what you though this was an open public forum where open debate was encouraged? May I remind you all, your gaming thumb is precious, don't lose it, don't cut the corners in private lobbys!

Going back to the grid order, yes indeed the points scored in races are added up and displayed in the lobby and that dictates your starting position on the grid, highest scorer at the back....this is a good system.......but......when you've been hosting all night and people are coming and going out of the lobby (and thus reseting there score to 0) as the host your allways going to end up at the back along with those who have been in the lobby the longest! for the first hour I was racing for the lead and got a good few victorys but as the room filled up and the pace got quicker trying to get from last to 1st whilst avoiding the occasional idiot was not going to happen LOL I did however enjoy some of the battles back in the cheap seat, no in fact I enjoyed all of the battles at the back! A quick peruse over the end of race lap times showed a few of us at the back were posting the same guys at the front......this counts for nothing though if you can't get round that rolling roadblock in front of you.

In private lobbys though most people will be in from the start and points will be more representative of how fast you are so the system should work well to even the field out. In future I'll start with an open lobby, then when enough of us turn up, say 5 I'll switch to a private lobby. I got a good few friends requests from good clean racers last night that I otherwise wouldn't have got. Remember it's a small comunity we must grow bretheren LOL

Did Vompatti hit you then? LOL I knew he was behind me when you span, I jinked left of the racing line, saw a flasy of your fuel fillier cap and missed you by millimeters, Vompatti must have gone right or was to busy wondering why I suddeny jinked left and started powersliding that he saw you too late LOL I think all 3 of us in that race must have toted up 15 overtakes just between the 3 of us.

Yeah, in fact I didn't even notice that Hun spun there. He was behind you and that other JaaaaG. Suddenly I noticed that you jinked left and the other Jag jinked right and there was a car facing towards me! I had no time to avoid the crash, it game so suddenly. Nice little smack there, I think that Hun's British tea-drinker never got over of the kiss made by Italian Stallion! :D

Hi Vompatti nice racing with you tonight, sorry for getting on your way at Imola but that is the only track I still don't know pretty well,it wasn't on the 1st release of this series.

No problem, I was more worried at that moment about Hun, who was pushing behind me and looking for a way to overtake me. It was hard to try to concentrate in overtaking, when I was watching more the car behind me than the one in front :)

I agree about the masserati it punches an enormous hole throught the air. Put it this way my merc was hitting the limiter following it on Monza.

Not surprised by that, because it's so slow! :nervous: I didn't find any car that I could've overtake on a straight without a drag. Even if I came out from the corner faster, I got side by side, but then they pulled away. I even had a hard time staying in some cars draft, lol.

The trouble is in Multiplayer the cars are std.

In single player with some tuning the Audi and Masserati are UNTOUCHABLE....

J

Hey Vompatti, did you also race that maserati? Then we met at Mugello and Monza. I was really glad to see another Mozarella Quattro Stagoni on the track đź‘Ť

I didn't recognize you were a member here! If it was you then my kudos to your racing. Was very fair!

"Oh and Redgate cheers for some good races mate, mixed it up with you quite a few times during the night."

Thanks Hereward i remember 3 or 4 laps of Imola you kept passing me in the final 2 bends then i'd draft pass you on the start/finish straight, good racing. :)

Regarding chicane cutting i think the problem will go away the more we all race together and can work out what's acceptable. đź‘Ť

That was the 10 laper at imola, I'd Tboned a parked car halfway round the first lap.....steering gone, brakes gone, engine gone.......I'd sweat like crazy for a whole lap slowly getting closer and closer till the last 2 left handers where I kept getting a wide inviting door left open for me......through I'd go knowing fully well as soon as we hit the straight I'd see your perfectly working V8 leave my V5 and a half with the wonky steering for dust........and then repeat the process lap after lap till my tyres just wouldn't stand upto it anymore LOL

"And I've got him again" :)
"And there he goes again" :(

Ahh i thought the draft effect seemed unusually strong well done mate good work driving a bag of spanners. I think that was the only race i didn't damage my car, kept collecting spinners and wrecking my car guess I need to practice online more.

Blah blah, cold brakes, blah blah, on the marbles, The one thing a will say about the GTplanet lot. IS they are very creative with thier racing excuses :) hehe....

I'm finding this game more and more frustrating online (PS3), as well as being off the pace against online racers, I'm seeing so much cheating going on its unreal, it seriously needs the penalties online improved in a patch. We can only hope.

Anychance one of you guys add me as a friend for the password?.. I can't enter decent clean races and it so anoying seeing 4 or 5 players in the only race online but I can't enter, and I so need the practice. No one seems to be playing in the afternoon here in the UK.

On another note, I put a quick review on insidesimracing's forum. The topic is here.

They have asked blackbean/milestone for a copy so they can review it.

Yes, it was me. You even caught me on your videos (not that good driving there though, I only got the game yesterday and they were my first races). I think that there were more races than only those two that we both took part. You were the only Maserati besides me that I saw all day đź‘Ť

Hi Steve,

If you send a friend requets to "Hereward" or "Bigjizzy-" You will be included in any passwords that are knocking about.

I cant speak for anyone else but i only tend to get on late at night after my mrs has finished watching whatever crap it is shes watching.

I'll open up a lobby this evening. I'm on arround 20.00 / 21.00 CET

Feel free to join :D

@Vompatti, yes there were more races. I already wondered, what the heck is another Maserati doing arround here

Sounds like you guys are having a blast online at night time. Curse my night time work hours! I'm getting really envious hearing all your stories of 10-14 car battles.

Hi SCLEEVE, feel free to add me, all like minded people from gtplanet are welcome to my friends list, as long as I still have available slots there (those guys at Sony really should increase the maximum number of PSN friends ...).

In any case, regardless of "PSN friendship status", if you ever see a private lobby hosted by me just send me a PM asking for the pass and I will gladly send it to you! And this, of course, is true for any other of the many posters in this thread.

Sounds good but although I don't think it's possible to see the host name of a locked room. Maybe put the password as your status in the XMB, then no need to reply halfway round the lap!

It is possible, I also thought the same but Hereward explained how you can view host names, a few pages back in this same thread.

Fact is the menus are a bit stupid, and they work like this:

1 - If you use "Search Rooms" in the main multiplayer mode you will be able to see all lobbies open, regardless of if they are Time Attack, Quick Race or Championship lobbies.

2 - But, using this "search" function you won't know who is hosting them.

3 - However, if - in the same "Multiplayer Main Menu" - you choose one of the Multiplayer Modes (example: Quick Race) and in that mode-menu you select "Custom Room", you will be able to make a search of lobbies currently open in that same mode. And in that other way of searching, you will get the HOST'S NAME! Voilá!

PS - What I usually do is: I search in the main menu and I notice (this is an example) that there are 4 championship and 3 quick race lobbies open. Depending on the settings and number of players I see in each of the lobbies, I will then go to one (or both) of the modes and check on who is hosting lobbies there

PS - Frank, if that helps, I have "inside info" telling me a few others also placed their order sooner than planned ;)

I've tried it today. Nothing special to me.

It felt like Toca. And varity of cars and track is just pathetic.

Number 2 to the list brothers! Tomaz, lots have us have stated it apes the original TOCA series in this thread as well as stating the number of tracks and cars. I hate to ask (no really everythings telling me not to) but whats wrong with toca? and the game is based on a true racing series so only the tracks and cars available in it are in the game, how dose this make it pathetic........I'm going to regret this I know. You say you tried it? for how long? and by try it do you mean own it?

Just stateing it's pathetic is a little vauge mate.

How I tried it? Well let say my pal rent it on internet. I finished every licence test which were pretty easy and short, some of them were easily rank S. I was playing it for 3 hours.

I played Toca a loooooot. But it's too much arcady to me.

Driving less than 10 cars on less than 15 tracks ... well yeah this is pathetic to me bucause how hard can it be to implement more than 15 cars.

Don't get me wrong it's pretty game but I think that they should put more time in it.

Yeah, crucify me now.
