@Hereward đź‘Ť at your underground post ;)

Just did a time attack session online, that is actually quite a lot of fun and this keeps you just pushing everytime a bit hard, further until....well the gravel :dunce:

The only thing to bad is that the Maserati isn't up to the job of being a laptime killer  could also be my skills :scared:

I see - I should change the title to disguise the game and keep this community closed and prevent more people from buying it

No chance ;)

I do like driving the Maserati, you have an awful lot of control of it in the bends, you can just move the thing on the throttle so easily, unfortunatly it hasn't got the punch out of the corners like some of the others........I think it could be a great Online track car though, especialy in the wet? I'll add it to my list alongside the Audi to try out, I did try the chrysler round Imola online.......loads of power, no brakes and is like a barge in the corners..........not one for the twisty tracks, could be ok at Monza? but I prefare drafting and outbraking at the end of the straights then holding a tight inside line.....I wouldn't like to try that in the "barge"

did you use the super secret handshake when asking retailers for a copy? I take it you didn't.......Met with blank stare Hybrid moved onto the next shop with the conviction in his heart that somewhere in the world there was a copy of SSV8 NC .....if only he knew of the super secret handshake before he set out on his quest.....

A few of the "bretheren" have been handed copies from behind the counter, none on the shelf for some reason....I'd suggest ringing round first and get them to hold a copy for you if they have one. đź‘Ť

Can I just point out to the breteren that this thread has very nearly as many replies and views as the BF-BC2 thread, which was started 5 months before this one and has been graced with a beta and demo on PS3......can we have some order among you as I feel some of you may have been spreading the word outside the sacred circle........again I must stress the penalty for this is the removal of your gaming thumb........We do not joke about such things within the circle!

When i went to buy it, the guy im Gamestation declared it was so underground the stores were not selling it only online......

So i went the most underground store i know [GAME] :) :) LOL.

I don't if anyone else saw it, but on Bravo TV's Gameface program they had a review of our beloved SSV8C.

It wasn't great for the game though. They said that the graphics were good but they criticized it for lack of depth.

They said there were only 10 tracks, (WRONG - 11) and that there wasn't much to keep you coming back to it. It also got bashed for a lack of feeling of speed (which I just can't agree with) and the sluggish feeling of the cars through the corners, adding that it was impossible to corner at more than 10 mph. I don't know which version they were testing (PS3/XBOX/PC) but I certainly don't feel like the car doesn't corner too well.

What did surprise me is that one of the games stand out features, the drying track conditions during wet races, was not mentioned once. Strange I thought, as this was one of the features that made me want to buy it.

They did seem however to be impressed with the official licencing part of the game and how detailed the cars liveries looked. Also praised was the sound of the big V8 engines and the number of cars on track. They also said the games representation on Monza was one of the best they'd seen, which is fair, but that makes me wonder if maybe they only played the demo of the games? Maybe?

Overall they said it was definatly one for fans of the series but not in the same ball park as Forza et al, which is fair I suppose as the game modes are basic. At least the game has got some air time now even if most of the websites are ignoring it. Hopefully now a few more people now will going into GAME with the secret handshake:tup:

This game WILL get slaughtered by any reviewer, unless he's a racing fan. Reviewers have a benchmark which is basicly, how dose this game apeal to the general gamer....when looking at generes such as racing sims, where it opens itself up to the general public is the following, arcade mode, eye poping eye candy, a million cars to select.......V8 has none of this, it's made for the fans and thats it....this isn't NFS Shift which tries to cater for everyone and in doing so is a worse game because of these "compromises" We saw adsactly the same thing with FC and SCC....even Race PRo on the 360.........For those who like driving games know to checkout sites such as GTP to get "mini reviews" and feedback from people who are like minded racers. To an extent you'll see this in all non general gaming generes, look at PC flight sims, some fantastic titles out there but I doubt you'll find many favourable reviews in mainstream PC gaming mags. When it comes to console driving games, your either Sim or Arcade, so your either a clone of Forza and GT or a clone of NFS (sorry there trying to change) or Bunout. If you stray from the formula these titles use then your "not as good" Shame really, whats required is what we have here, fans of racing games giving there honest opinions about racing games........forget the review scores there will be nothing from the general press above 80% for this game......which to be fair though 70%-80% is a good score fro the mainstream guys.

Here are 2 races of the Online Mode. Session was yesterday evening. GTP_ADEuk is in also ;)
Sorry about the quality and the ticking of that clock in the background :S

Fantastic race mate, much Kudos for getting the first "online" race vide up on you tube!

Inspired I've done one as well, replay from Monza in the wet (yes I copied it LOL) started at the back on a 3 lap race, all assists of using the DF-GT

Video up in a sec

Nice vids. Dunno how you race that view Hereward but you do it well :đź‘Ť
I Have switched back to using 6axis with gt5p button layout - seems to work ok although I'm having problems with freeze ups and difficulty reaching games today for some reason

Had some good races this afternoon with up to nine other racers at one point. Didn't experience any lag whatsoever which was good.

It first started out just me and ADEuk^^ and at the end of each race more and more people had joined in. Must admit, it got fairly hectic with nine other people on track but it was good fun. One racer, StreetFighter Zero I think, seemed to blow everyone away with about 10+ sec lead every race. We should try and sign him up here:tup:

Haha, ok I will try with the secret handshake next time, I'm sure guys in the shops will love it!

No, no I did say nothing, I swear it. :scared:

nice vid Hereward ;) Monza in the rain is just something special!

Did see quite a lot of you guys this afternoon. Joined 2 races and saw Stalker and ADE.

I always hold of a bit in the first corner because mostly you will gain a few places when you are a bit patience ;)

This evening I drove a couple of times but there were some real a*holes on the track. Ramming and hitting just to get first or through, it was so stupid. But anyway..**** happens :dunce: Caught them on camera though

Til later...

Hereward, Wasnt this the guy who quit out the other night because we beat him down so badly...???

Im sure it was.

Also i think he was the one in beamer E92 with all the driving aids on....??

J

I don't like this bloke, I've noticed him disconnecting if he doesn't get his own way, he is ranked number one but if you notice he uses the easiest car to drive, the Audi RS4, and all the assists ON including Auto every single time. If he was so good why doesn't he at least try racing with some off, but sounds like staying ranked number one is more important. The ranking system should score you more with assists off but it treats everyone the same.

Also don't other people get anoyed when you see many racers going way way off track on the portgual track clearly cheating so they can cut back in much quicker. The penalty system shouldn't allow it.

Tonight I had my two first freezes in SSV8NC đź‘Ž I know it is a minor setup that affect other games also but annoyed me anyway...:nervous: did anyone suffered similar problems so far or was it just me?

where did it freeze avore? I had it freeze once joining a lobby that gotclosed as I was joining.......same thing?

And yes streetfighter Zero is a ZERO....Had him in a few races, has every aid known to man on, he dosn't like our room setups though because we have tyre wear on and penalties, he's prety easy to beat once he has to actualy drive.....and yes you pass him he then quits, I think most people will know him especialy if he's ranked No1....they'll know him as a bad racer so he's simply creating the oposite image he's after..........I'm sure theres a video of ths guy.....one minuet. Remember to simply have tyre wear, collisions and penalties on if your hosting a public race, you can also check everyones race card before the race.....see a stupidly high percentage of penalties awarded to a player simply tell them to leave and don't start the race till they have.

Prety sure this is the guy............Brother Noel has been dispatched....

:dunce: that's quite pathatic if you have to winn Legendary difficulty like that!

oh and did you guys also notice that on dry condition the track evolves too! You really start to see the brakepoints before the corners and the dark/racing line on the dry after a few laps. Go outside of the racing line and griplevel is less and the car is more slippery. đź‘Ť

Game is growing on me and it just pushes a lot of right buttons. Now, if Blackbean decides to switch from V8 to BTCC '97-2000' season that disc will probably never leave the PS3 again :)

Ok, I had the chance of getting a little deeper into this game for the weekend and I found out what it seems to be the first problem: Offline championship.

Simply put, what happens is that the save becomes corrupt (!?) at the third track - Magione. It happened while during a 20-lap-per-race event on hard with the 550i and also happened at the same point with the 300C.

I've raced that track independently, no event associated and online, and it it fine.

Have this occured also to any of you guys?

I'm going to test to costumize the championship trying th recreate this season's calendar as possible, to see if the problem is from the track or if there is a bug that would prevent you from doing offline full championships.

@Bullie,

I'm currently at Round 4 in my Offline Championship and I did not have this problem!
Settings: AI Hard, Laps 10, Car Maserati. Penalties ON, Tyrewear ON

What did happen was that the loading screen took quite some time to disappear. I thought should I reset the console but chose to leave it on. After almost 2 minutes it just went from Round 3 to 4. So maybe there could be a problem with round 3, I'm just not sure

I see, on my case what happened was that the first time the game freeze during the driving in qualification for the 1st race. The second was on the loading screen.

Nope Herward,it was right on the same spot as Bullie Loading screen at the beginning of race 1 in the third round of a offline championship...the second one occured during the loading screen after race 2 which i had to repeat.

Yes but it's just a momentary bug if you insist you can go on...

Yeah i think this is a problem sometimes occurs during loading screens the yellow light in the ps3 continues to blink but the loading bar displayed on the screen stops.I confess that i didn't had the patient of Doblocruiser and hit the reset button...

And yes streetfighter Zero is a ZERO

I remember that caracter from the first game he is really a tool:tdown: he will cut trought the grass where ever he can and quit races he can't win...due to the stupid raking system of the game some smallbrained guys-probably just kids-will do whatever it takes to win you will see many of that in several tracks-PortimĂŁo,Varano,Vallelunga,etc.

I'm familiarizing with the breaking points of each track and was hoping to join you guys in a night or two when I feel more confortable to join you ACESđź‘Ť

lol @ Avore, wait till you see me drive in the wet with knackered tyres, its anything but an ace LOL...

Thanks for the feedback, however, the thing is that on the first case it happen while driving, and on both occasions, the PS3 yellow light wasn't flashing at all.

I had no yellow flashing light, al seemed quite, as if nothing happened and the menu just hanged. But be patience, it probably starts running again if you wait a couple of minutes. By this the savegame is still intact :sly:

Seems this StreetFighter Zero character has quite a reputation then. I did notice he was driving the Audi but I didn't really notice what aids he had on because the lobby was fairly full and I only really had a quick scan of what everyone was driving. I had tyre wear, penalties and collisions on for all the races. Its pretty sad if he's been disconnecting if he's not winning. I didn't get a chance to check out his driving because it was just me and ADEuk for a few races so by the time the lobby started filling up, we'd got about 60ish points each and therefore started from the back each race.

I must say DobloCruiser, your PSN ID of Grey Hound is very apt. I think in one race you were behind me for a bit, I ran wide, you went passed, then that was the last I saw of you! I noticed from the standings you were finishing at the top of the table most races. I kept seeing your name in the little box in the bottom corner each time you overtook someone. ( I really like this feature.)

Doblo, I must say I got the feeling that the track developed with skidmarks during dry races but I wasn't sure if I was imagining it.

Does anyone know if it's possible to tune your car during online races? I know it's possible during time trial but I can't see the option for quick race. Is it just me or isn't it possible?

Also, during online championship, do you have qualifying sessions? Guess I should just give it a try to find out for myself, but there's that much for me to still try out with this game, I've not had chance.

Hmm odd I'm on the 4th race in the seasons doing 10 lap races, not had an issue, could it be selecting 20 laps is the issue? whatever it is theres a bug at work, email blackbean with the adsact info to see if theres a patch in the works?

And yeah, aces is definatly not the word I'd use to describe wet track "antics" of any of us on worn tyres LOL

Oh and I did say somewhere about the dry track and it's changeing conditions concernig grip levels, but it will be a good few pages back and it was only a passing coment. Using this info though is a very good tactical asset, get a guy to defend off the racing line and you have far more grip than he has when you switch for the overtake onto the gripy part of the track......

I shouldn't really tell you lot this but on the last turn of Imola and Monza (the parabolica) I use this tactic alot, online and offline. out break your oponent but be sure to be on the inside line, he will have more grip than you breaking but as you enter the turn suddenly your on the racing line and thus the gripy part of the track and you can hang in there through the apex and then power out ahead.....whilst your oponent is left out on the marbles wondering where all the grips gone.........I'm going to regret telling you all that, especially Jizzy DAMN!!!!

And finally, no you can't select tuning optons in online races and as far as I know there is no qualifying runs on online championship races, but I could be wrong on that last one.
