:ouch: DOH! I feel like such an idiot! I finally got around to doing the evaluations over the weekend. It's a little tough the first time around when you're doing it on tracks where you've never raced and don't know the lines or braking points. I think I had a few A's a few B's, maybe one C and about two 'S' scores in there. I had no idea what the S score was but assumed it was simply 'Satisfactory' and a passing grade without being anything special. So on those events I rated an S, I went back and tried them again. And again. And AGAIN! And was getting so angry that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't do any better than 'S'. And was thinking 🤬!!! This is ridiculous, I'm never going to be competitive in this game.

 I need to get out more.

:)
I think you're just getting old,Jeff:P:lol:

I started a little test today considering about the cars and now I completed phase 1/4 of it. I'm driving quick races because I assume that track conditions and car setup are the same as they are in online. 10 lap races and tracks are going to be Monza, Vallelunga, Mugello and Mugello wet. Today I drove Monza. So 11 cars and 10 laps, means 110 laps around Monza today :scared:

I give points from 10-0 for total time and lap time. So if one car has fastest total time and second fastest lap time, it gets total of 19 points. If a car is last in both category, it gets 0 points. I won't release the exact results of the first race, because I think that they are a bit biased. I used the following order when driving the cars:

BMW M5 E39: 3,047 kg/hp
BMW 550i E60: 3,049 kg/hp
Mercedes C63: 3,063 kg/hp
Chrysler 300C SRT8: 3,121 kg/hp
BMW M3 E90: 3,155 kg/hp
BMW M3 E92: 3,226 kg/hp
Jaguar S Type R: 3,244 kg/hp
Chevrolet CR8: 3,349 kg/hp
Audi RS4: 3,381kg/hp
Cadillac CST-V: 3,625 kg/hp
Maserati Quattroporte: 3,675 kg/hp

and M5 and 550i did quite terribly. I clearly got used to driving and track along the way and I even beat 550i with the Caddy... So in the following races I will use order based on the points that cars have gained. Car with the most points starts first.

But I must say, even though these results depend on so many factors (driving mood, driving style, driving order, concentration, list goes on and on) I am already surprised by some of the results. For example, I wouldn't have guess the car that took the edge in the first test race, nailing total of 20 points with a good margin. I'll give a little hint though: :P

Interesting Vompatti.👍
Maybe we can arrange a time to try diferent cars and setups around the same track in online Time Trial I did a couple of them last night with some of the guys but we went from track to track and with the fastest cars-BMW and AMG- but I think the CR8 might be a good choice for monza and the Jaag and maybe the Crysler would be nice choices for shorter/slower circuits like Magione,Varano and Adria...:)

Good work vompatti.👍👍👍

Like the idea of doing online time trials good way of working out the best car and set-up combos for each track.

Great Races again tonight guys.👍

A word out to Vompatti who is completly rocking in the Jaaaaaaag and giving the fastest guys really a hard work to beat his green car.👍

I think we may even call it the King of Portimão as he completly flys around my beloved Portuguese track....

Good racing again last night, the jaaaaaaag is definitely car of the moment.
Any UK players out there still considering a purchase check The Hut £17.73 with free delivery for a cracking racer, read the earlier pages of this thread to see the positive reviews from nearly everyone who has bought it.

Have to say, I was on the verge of getting this game but i'm a bit put off by the deadzone issue. It got a pretty bad review from VVV Gamer, and they're usually willing to give virtually any sim a chance. They also alluded to the deadzone issue as being something that makes it virtually impossible to keep the car straight with. I don't see that being something I could get 'used to'. If I was to get it i'd probably prefer just to use the controller, which would be a shame.

I don't want to drag any negative vibes in here, but after playing the demo (Monza, hooray!), I can't see me enjoying this game in 2010: graphics are acceptable, presentation very blunt and boring, cockpit view very plain, but even after giving it four chances, it just doesn't feel like driving/racing a car at all.

Sorry to say, but it's really brave to put a title like V8 on the market, given the competition and all, it's just way below standard in my book.

Again, no offence, but I thought this would be a Arcade title on XBL.

Where'd you get the demo from? Was this for the PS3 or was it xbox 360?

Hi Guys.
I got the game last night. Will its like V8ss the same i just think the loading scream is far better than old version.
I give 100% support for the lobbys. coming from scc i could only connect with avore about 5% of the time if we lucky, last night 100% perfect. i raced him it was fun even thought i finnished 5 min behind him.. lol. after i could connect in 4 our 5 lobbys no worries.. This proves SCC/FC have lobbys problems i think.
I will see you guys around for sum tight racing..
Ant

I tried the demo on the 360 a few days ago with the controller and enjoyed battling with the AI on hard, however they did zigzag around on the straight :ouch:

With the hut and sendit selling the game for under £18, I may give this one a go.

Many vidieos of myself and other GTP members driving in a "straight line" with the wheel earlier in the thread, as for the reviews........well from members of GTP who own the game and have put the time in you'll find we rate it as a good online racing sim.......that to me is worth more than a review by people I know less than I know the GTP guys!

And I don't belive a bretherin is driving the JaaaaG! I'll see you guys soon, really busy with work this week, after driving to london from manchester, fix a CR machine then driving back (just todays outing) I have little enthusiasim to go stomping round imola in the wet till the wee small hours....no matter how fun it is LOL

But you have to agree, some have very strange, even morbid tastes. And wear anoraks. And most definitely have a thing for Jags. Now would YOU ever trust a chap who is into that kind of car? ;)

I ran into a couple of those VVV guys. What do I have to say? They seem very, ahm, competitive to put it in nice words, but boy those blokes surely know how to race online.

Please can somebody confirm if it's possible to change the controller configuration on either the PS3 or 360 version, and is it possible to use the Analog sticks for accelerating and braking ?

Thanks.

Hmm, that changes everything. I'm saving up for a holiday and was reluctant to shell out 30 quid on a game I might not even like, but 18 quid sort of seems justifiable now. You sure it wasn't the first Superstars V8 game you saw at that price?

No in the PS3 you can't:grumpy:

It's for the 2nd game, although I was also referring to the Xbox 360 version, you can still get the PS3 version for under £18 Here and Here

Btw, do I take it you might now be divorcing your beloved Maser?

As you did see, I guess I have to take my words back. So I went to the dark side and gave the Jaaaag a go. (GRE-Y-HOUND, please don't judge me, I'm weak). I must say it was great fun to be competitive with the rest of the lot. I think that The Jaaaaag is actually very competitive car in online.

One race against da78co painted image to my mind clearly. Tight fighting for all the 5 laps around Monza. In the last lap going in to last corner, I dived in with different kind of braking and got what I tried with it. I was literally in da78co's bumper when we started to accelerate out of the corner and I was getting ready to last chance drafting overtake when all my plans fell down. My back end started to slip. I tried to counter steer and keep the pedal floored and hope it would stop spinning the rear wheels, because that was my only hope to keep up close enough. But it didn't and I was forced to lift up from the gas to avoid spinning. That was darn close to become a very sick ending to an epic race :)

Great Races again tonight guys.👍

Heh, thanks mate, but I think that the King of Portimão is too much. But again, I had a blast on that night. Great races, in Kyalami we had a great battle with heat, both of us pushing on the limit and, and, and. The list goes on. Great races all night long. Though I really have to learn Valencia, I was so lost in there (but it seemed that I wasn't the only one).

hi everyone.
very funny tight races and time trial in the last 2-3 nights especially with turnupdaheat, arvore and vompatti. in monza me and vompatti had a great battle, after i won, it was the first time i wanted more, thinking about a 10-20 laps race... but immediatly i realized my neck was suffering cause for all the 5 laps i was spending my time looking for him on my back so... happy for a short race!!! lol

So, should we run some sort of series in this game at some point? :)

I would be in for that, because despite liking the game it's impossible to have fun in public lobbys with the crazy paparazzi punting you off the hole race...👎

Yes, I believe we should. It's amazing how quickly interest has waned with this game. Where are the Bretheren of Jaaag? I know there was a wish to keep the game an underground title but I didn't realise the members would go underground too!

There is so little online activity that you are forced to race with members of BROTDA (the Banzai Ram Off Track Drivers Association) and there's no just fun in that. Much to my regret, I have found that when I am racing these guys I have had to adopt their dubious lines, at the likes of Portimao, just to remain somewhat competitive. I would rather not do that because I am a man of principles but as the saying goes "if those principles don't suit I have other ones!"

I have noticed in the last while that quite a few more guys that I have met playing SCC have purchased SSV8NC so I think it would be possible to attract a decent number of clean drivers to an organised private lobby series and I would be all on for that.

Not been on for a few days, scc has my attention again (don't know if it's just me or does it control better with a wheel since the patch?). Anyway all i can say is both games are really good in their own ways, and a ssv8 series is a good way of keeping interest alive.
👍

Speaking as one of the SCC players that has recently purchased SSv8NC that Turnup refers to, I'm certainly interested in racing you lot some more. Although I must confess that, like Redgate, my attention has drifted back to SSC lately, because of the new patch and because the group I'd been racing with have also got back into it.

To my mind there's plenty of room for both games in my collection, as they both have different strengths and weaknesses and I hope to bump into some of you online again soon. Figuratively speaking of course.

Don't you mean punt-arazzi?

Methinks I might have a new gaming term here.:sly:

+1:tup:

Very appropriate in this game...:)
Thank you.:D So with that in mind, put this in your Funk and Wagnalls! Or better yet, in your Uxbridge Motorsport Dictionary. ;)
