erm yeah, if your not over the deadzone best to go put a few hours in to aclimatize first LOL We race very close (inches apart not feet) so getting a bit "wandery" on the track could see you crumpeling a few panels LOL especialy in the wet! but hey pop on and I'll sit at the back with ya if you want. I don't mean that in a bad way but the bretherin set off with the bit between there teeth and many hours with there cars under there belt.

Watching some of the on the edge moves the guys make and pull it off is a joy to watch sometimes. lose the back end when your hard on the bakes with worn tyres in the wet with an oponent sitting inches from your wingmirror would have most drivers tank slaping it straight into the kitty litter, not a brethering driver, oh no, he'll hold it all together on the throtle and find time to hit the PTT button so he can shout JaaaG dow the mic LOL.......or, yes, he'll fluf it going for the mic button LOL

Thanks for the races this evening folks (me=PhanTomI); it was a lot of fun, but I can see there's quite the learning curve in store for me. I know some of the tracks from other games but that first one I joined (the Portugese track) was completely new to me. Could you tell...? I like though that the grid order is the reverse of the finish order from the previous race; allows me to feel more involved.

Some paint was exchanged but it was good clean racing all around. I did take a right battering from seversal of you coming into the second chicane at Monza though. Okay, so it was my fault for braking too early and near causing a pile up. Still on that learning curve...

I'm taking a sabaticle while my car gets fixed guys. The close racing dose incure bumps and the ocasional off, and a quick apology is all thats needed. Some of the shunts I got tonight where not mistakes (heat this aint aimed at you mate) had it happen repeatedly in 3 races from someone who had no excuse and they were simply done so he could get past quickly. I was off the pace coming into the races towards the end but as with the new guys punting me off because I'm not racing as quick as the front runners just killed the whole night for me. Hope you enjoyed yourself, I shan't be racing with you anymore.

Sorry I had to say that guys, 99% of you are good clean racers, only takes one guy to ruin it though, see you all in open rooms in future. Oh and great to see erik finaly received his copy and has quickly jumped in online.

Oh and big thumbs up to Jizzy for once again hosting, nice to see a big selection of tracks selected and the random weather seemed to work well.

I can honstly say that the race i had with Arvore last night on Portimaouououou or however you spell it, was one of the closest/best races ive had on ANY racing game...

5 laps 200 overtakes and not once were we more than 5ft apart. It helped that it was the battle ofr the lead.

I genuinely think the only difference in the end between us was i managed slightly better on the last lap with wrecked tyres lol.

I was half expecting Redgate to come steaming past after watching us battle all race. :)

I liked the format too the random weather did make it interesting. Wet tracks that ive never driven before though ,are er hard LOL.

As hereward said i saw some dubious if not blatant punts last night, everyhas has racing incidents guys, and there is nothing wrong with a bit of bumping, you will never hear me complain about it. That said enforced trips to the kitty litter, are not nice.......

Finally sorry the lobby died at the end last night, my internet fell over :( :( due to my other half dicking around on spacebook :( :(

Laters guys

J

Some nice races yesterday. Good battle in Imola with Hereward, I did learn that I can't outbrake a BMW on the 'dirty' side of the track! 4 laps I was able to keep him behind, but that's not enough in a 5 lap race :) In one race I drove over the finish line less than 0,1s in front of heat. I drove last 2-3 meters with revs hitting against the limiter, I didn't want to change bigger gear because that could've been just enough for heat to cruise past me.

Oh, and one victory for the mighty Maserati! That was in Vallelunga, I got lucky in the start as couple of guys in front of me slept when the lights changed so I got a little run away. But GRE-Y-HOUND, where were you, I need you to defend the honor of Trident with me! :)

Those coms are really terrible. Almost all of you guys were 1/4 bars, sometimes 0/4. If I don't answer it's because I simply can't understand what you are saying with all the cracking in the sound. I guess Erik is from somewhere Scandinavia? He had 3/4 bars and his voice for me was so much better than rest of you.

Its the same with me mate, Regate and Herewerads comms are clear as a bell, everyone elses . Not a word......

Unfortunately, I came late to the party last night and you guys were half way through the first championship. For a change, I decided to go out in a different set of wheels which happened to be the E90 M3 and it took a while to get used to it.

During the early stages of the wet Monza race I found the car wasn't as planted as my usual mount, the 550i, and I struggled for grip all the way from the first chicane, around the Curve Grande and down the straight towards the second chicane! Vompatti's Maserati was beside me all the way along and I'm sure he was thinking I had lost the run of myself and was trying to assault him with all the side by side contact we made!!
I backed off for the second chicane though and we went through without a problem.

I'm sorry you had your problems Hereward but I'm not sure you're going to solve it by only racing in public lobbies where there are far more "mindless ones" around. I agree with you Jizzy that everyone has racing incidents and there is nothing wrong with a bit of bumping but I think it should be avoided as much as possible in crucial areas such as braking zones. Where people feel aggrieved is when there is contact from behind which knocks them off the track or out of shape and the car which made the contact continues to sail on up the road. Now that's something I'll complain about now and again.

Having said that, I had two seperate but similar incidents last night where I made heavy contact with Hereward and Arvore and I was driving the car the car behind! They both occured in the fast third chicane in Monza (Ascari) and what happened was on both occasions I was following the lads and I got a great flat out run through. We were carrying similar speed through the first two sections of the chicane but as we approached the last left hand turn onto the back straight the cars in front of me hesitated and although I tried to turn in tighter I couldn't avoid contact and I sent them spinning at high speed off the track while I was fine and heading down the road in the right direction. They were both "racing incidents" and I could have defended a decision to continue on at racing pace but, without meaning to sound "Holier than Thou" I thought the best thing would be to slow and let the lads past before resuming battle. This I did and no harm done. Actually at a later race in Magione something similar happened when I was in the lead car and Arvore tagged me which sent me into a spin. This time I made a slight mistake and I'm sure Arvore couldn't avoid me but he slowed to let me pass and all was well.

There's no need for a win at all cost to approach to this.

It's been so many days since I last played this or any other game that I think this weekend I'll have my self esteem crushed to litle pieces, lol

Hereward, don't take a sabatical. If you don't want to say who acted like a punter, don't. But ask HIM to take a sabatical. After all that's what private lobbies are for. Guy acts wrong, is not sorry, repeats his wrong doings ... guy is out until sentence expires, is revoked or the queen pardons him ;)

EDIT -
.... on Portimaouououou or however you spell it ....

PORTIMÃO (not sure if your keyboard allows the "Ã" you guys don't have that symbol in your language)

How to spell:

"PORT" like in Portsmouth (both are coastal towns)

"I" like in "tit" or "pick" ... not as you english speakers sometimes say "I" as "AYE"

"MÃO" is the tricky part. I suggest you don't even try to say it right, just say it "MAO" like in Mao Tse Tong and we will get it ;)

You have to hit harder than that to make it feel inside the cockpit of my big rig! And I've already raced enough with you to know how fair racer you are 👍

This isn't the first time, but again you write out my thoughts exactly. I would start to suspect that you are me, but you are too fast to be me.

Things would be easier if you could kick from the lobby.

Its made worse that this particular player is a GTP Member as it was a private lobby. Dont worry though boys ill make sure hes not off for too long. After all the pride of his beamer is at stake :) :) :) LOL.

SBut GRE-Y-HOUND, where were you, I need you to defend the honor of Trident with me! :)

 Had my own share of massive assault yesterday ;) Drove 70 Kilometers on my recumbent and I was just exhausted at the time I came home. I wouldn't have made you proud in the Maserati :scared:

Probably be on in the weekend! Sooner I just don't have time to race.

That was really a great race J!!! 5 laps glued toghether bumper to bumper several overtakes and no dirty moves:tup:

I watched that from a privileged position:tup: I was right behind you guys,at Adria and you cut the finish line at the same time:eek: I think that was a classic photo finish decision...👍

Great work you did there with the quatropuorte Vompatti:tup:I also managed to get a victory to the Jaag...

I guess you're right I ear you guys very poorly but the other night I could ear Bullie clearly...

I agree absolutely with Dereck...I had some bumping too trought out the night, taken and given, and When I think they are my fault I appologize-hoping the coms allow it to get throught-things got a little bit messier later in the evening but nothing that I considered intentional for spoiling my races just a little impatient some times from fast guys to overtake me...:)

Yeah and the alchol is out too, many is the message....I;m too drunk tonight guys, I'll be on tomorow, last one was to drunk due to port......we have a higher class drunk in the bretherin LOL

LOL! That'll be me then:tup: I like a nice glass of Cockburns whilst I fire up the PS3, but that night I was so drunk that my monocle kept falling out and my gorilla skin slippers kept slipping off the pedals!

Do you think that this has sold enough copies for us all to band together and send a letter to the developer demanding they

1, Patch the bugs in the game out, thus giving us the product we were advised we were buying.

2, Patch the little things that annoy us, like the chicane cutting, the option to kick from lobby. SORTIGN OUT THE COMMS. etc.

?

Yeah, something needs doing about the chicanes. SCC's solution is the way forward by putting kerbing on the inside of the corner. The Monza track uses this well, and it's quicker by several seconds to keep things tarmac bound. The other solution would be harsher penalties because you really have to cut the corner before any penalties occur.
The 'kick' option would be good too, especially when Streetfighter Z joins the lobby:crazy:

I just wonder though if they'd pay any attention to us writing to them. From what I've heard, the first game had glitches too that were never resolved.👎

Wording along the lines of the game BEING MISREPRESENTED AS A FINAL PRODUCT.

SOLD UNDER FALSE PRETENSES, trading standards. Product recall.

These words i tend to find have the desired effect,.

Not to mention that this forum is probably single handedly responsible for 90% of thier sales. LOL..

Sorry to hear you had problems last night hereward and surprised that any of last nights racers would deliberately punt you off. I got hit several times and usually got an apology which i try to do if i make a mistake, although i sometimes crash when trying to use the coms button. All i can say is if you hit someone you shouldn't gain any advantage and an apology should be given.
Bigjizzy and arvore i really enjoyed watching your battle but there just wasn't opportunity to get past even though you were clearly slowing each other down in the heat of battle.
One more thing on driving etiquette although it is sometimes impossible to avoid contact in braking areas you should be doing everything you can to avoid hitting the car in front including putting yourself off the circuit if thats what it takes, any driver has the right to take the line and speed they choose through a corner if you are behind its your job to find a safe way past.
Hereward why don't you pm the person it might have been heat of the moment.

Ok I've calmed down.....just slightly! So I'll keep it short or I'll be ranting again. The incident I refered to was repeatedly deliberate. I'm keeping off the track for a while simply to calm down, I don't agree with "outing" people in an open forum So thats why I'm taking a sebaticle, I don't trust myself not to send Neil out if it happens again!

Right anyway, open lobbys I know to expect idiots LOL but I was being a little melodramatic in my earlier posts and once I've cooled off I'll be back.

Spoke with a few of you on the phone and via PM and although this is bang out of order and should never have to be done on GTPlanet I'm going to draw up a list of race rules! The close racing of V8 can get the better of some and some basic ground rules help. If you agree to the rules and then "appear" to break them then that can be raised on the forum. Remember the main rule though, racing is racing and mistakes happen from computer sim racing to world class F1 drivers, an apology goes a long way and costs nothing. I'll sort out a list soon which can then be "altered" so everyone agrees on it.

Peace and love, peace and love.....oh and a sharp pointy stake!

Owen

Hey guys ive just read those and its pretty much common sense.........

For guys who have never raced a lap in thier life then they can benefit from them, But as it appropriately puts it relies on a bit of common sense from all drivers.

I dont doubt for a second the drivers who knock you off have any "common sense" i think its more likely that they CHOOSE to do it anyway.

In my opinion specifically to v8. it is a bit more touring car than scc or GT's in real life, so there IS AND WILL BE CONTACT. thats part of the appeal......

But 3 strikes for people BLATANTLY flaunting these rules. in one race or accross a number of races.....

Just my opinion. like i say i dont normally have any issues with GTP'ers

For me personally if i leave the door open and someone is better on the brakes, which lets face it in my Merc happens a lot...... then i will try to give room up the inside but there will inevitably be a small amount of contact.

I dont have ANY issues with this at all even if the contact pushes my wide. End of the day i could have picked a more defensive line.........and vise versa.

As long as they have 2 wheels on the black stuff its all good.

HOWEVER

if i get pushed wide because a driver is up the inside and im already on the KERB = NOT HAPPY BUNNY.

that for me is clearly cheating.

Now i have done this a few times to avoid an accident well a major one..... and just let The driver i hit take the lead again and got back on the throttle.

This i class as a racing incident, as long as the driver lets you back through..... im not arsed about an apology......

Regate and Arvore with both vouch that ive done this on the last straight on the last lap because ive felt ive been to aggressive in the last turn........

J

Guys lets put this behind our back, race toghether again tonight and it probably all goes well.👍

Althought let's all carry on those blue velvet Jaags racing gloves and let's all join for a tee and xerry in the boxes after the races are done...:)

Good set of guidelines there - I hope I was able to drive in accordance with them. I know I caused a few bottlenecks when starting from pole and I took a few nudges probably becuase of my error-strewn early braking.

I was nearly sent flying at the thrid chicane on the wet monza track by someone behind me at one point. I was pleased to see that the guy didn't overtake though and waited for me to get the car back in shape. I was subsequently overtaken fairly a couple of turns later. Similarly I accidently nudged someone (Stalker66 I think?) on one track and sent him properly spinning out. I did wait and let him take the place back from me, but he must've lost a good 10 seconds on the pack from it. Sorry about that.

Otherwise I thought it was all good fun; exchange of paint between side doors, but nobody taken out of it in the process. I am in the early learning stages though, and would certainly be intersted in racing you lot some more, so any feedback on anything I did wrong would be welcomed.

Think that was me who rear ended you at Monza. sorry mate, was that many cars around didn't know adsactly who I'd hit LOL

Right no more from me on the subject which shall now be known as puntersgate.....as arvore says get your blue velvet gloves on and get on the track LOL

Sorry guys i fell asleep at half past 9 :(. Im gettign too old too burn the candle at both ends :(

Will be on tonight though :) :) :) :) :)

Delighted to report the swift return to the track by our esteemed (rather than the recently steaming) High Lord Chancellor, brother Hereward! 👍

We had a small, but perfectly behaved, group of 4 out and about last night and enjoyed some good clean fun. The night included our first one-make race when we all climbed aboard the thrusty Jaaaaag for a slippy slidy wet race at Mugello.

The only voice of dissent came from our German compatriot Frank (Frawe) who said something like "scheiss auto". Not sure what it means but I think he was indicating a preference for his home country's vehicles! :)

Indeed I got out of my pram and retreived my dummy from the corner of the room. Actualy found 3 tracks that were not our "normal" list of tracks which were very good! Racing was uber clean as expected, I think the guys were "walking on egg shells" around me a little in case I exploded into a torent of verbal profanities LOL

Quick one on the JaaaG race, I lined Arvore up perfectly for a big draft down the Mugello start finish straight, got about halfway along it and went for the pass.....At this point we both went for the "shouting JaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaG" down the mic move, unfortunatly with all the racket I forgot to change up into 6th and bounced of the limiter all the way to the right hander wondering why Arvore wasn't in my rear view mirrors! LOL Good race, still hate the JaaaaaG LOL

Yeah great races we had last night! BTW sorry J but when you paged me I was watching soccer...and when I came back you had already gone...either way latter in the evening we made a small private lobby with great fun races in some of the least played tracks-just a tip if you guys want to beat Dereck(heat) go for Valencia since it seems to be the only track he hasn't mastered yet:dopey::dunce:-like Misano, Varano and Vallelunga...
About the Jaag...it's a fun car to race ,great engine sound, good accelaration power but once the tyres are warn get's twitchy and tail happy speccialy in the wet...but I'm with Franck "swcheize auto"...never the less a great contendor to the slower cars like the caddy or the Maserati that are good choices to the tigher tracks in the championship.👍

Oh yeah and our High Chancellor was back to his driving dutties and what can I tell you...he his still fast as hell particullary in Monza wet...I hope you enjoyed mate and that it brings you back to the game...

Did you guys noticed that we have 3 fellow GTpeers in the top ten ranking of players:dopey: I guess the cheating, cutting and punting doesn't pay off after all,somehow-don't know if it is pennalties related-the game seems to reward the less penalized drivers...:)

I did something yesterday that I haven't ever done before in SSV8NC's online. We drove with some finnish mates, tested couple of races and so on. We drove in Mugello, I got my arse kicked so I decided to try another car! :scared:

Of course the car had to be JaaaaaG! It's so different to drive from Maserati, but I don't agree that it sits in the same category as Maserati and Caddy. In fact, even though I'm not that used to drive with it (and I'm pretty used to drive Maserati :dopey:), I drove 2s faster lap with it than I drove with the Maserati in the previous race. (Btw, what is a fast lap in online race around Mugello? My best JaaaaG lap was 1.52,4xx iirc.) I did quite like the JaaaaG, it's nice and nimble. I definitely prefer cars that tend to oversteer instead of understeer. In offline I've tried, well all of the cars, and for example the Chrysler is a fast car, but I don't like how I have to drive it.

Well I felt the 3 mentioned cars were pretty even, but I've never tried them back to back in a fast track like Mugello, I did a few quick races with them in Varano and Magionne and thought they had similar performaces...I feel the cars that are really faster are the BMWs and the AMG.My best lap at Mugello online so far ,in the E92 I think, was 1;49,xx but the faster guys like Derek and da78co manage to drop to 1;48,xx or even 1;47:scared:

Oh,is it only me or the handling of the cars feels slightly different from ofline to online mode? Online they seem looser...maybe it's just me.:dopey:
