@ Bullie,

Imola being my track of choice, i can try to help out with the lap times.....

In qualifying trim Your lap should be 1:41, (providing you dont cut the chicanes)

In Race Trim a great lap is 1:42.8ish a God Time is anywhere in 1:43's..

Because ive tried the different cars, im confident that anyone under 1:42 is cutting the chicane, Likewise in time trial these 1:37 - 1:40 Boys are DEFINATELY cutting the chicane.

I hope that this helps mate.

J

Also had a Blackbean guy in a race as well......just stupidly fast, was a lesson in how good you could get if you put the time in!

I know it's going back a while but I was wondering what was the PSN of the Blackbean guy you raced and how did you know he was from Blackbean in the first place?

EDIT: Regarding the Imola times, I did a 1'40.3 in qualifying trim on a Time Attack but I promise you I didn't cut any chicane. The quickest time in the track records is a 1'36.8 which was posted by Zeligata and while I'm not sure what he does at the chicanes I have seen him (and others) make up a lot of time by running way wide and not loosing any speed at Aqua Minerale (the double right hander at the bottom of the hill).

Hey guys, I bought this on 360 and 'acquired' it on the PC but everytime I've tried to get some MP racing on the 360 version there hasn't been a single room open. You guys seem to have a pretty good thing going on the PS3, so I'm wondering if you think you are likely to continue playing MP for some time? If so I may just trade my 360 copy for a PS3 copy. Another question, is the deadzone in the steering present in the PS3 copy and if so has anyone heard of any plans to patch it?

Hi Slim.

Yeah the deadzone is still there on the PS3 version, but I've kinda got used to it now so I don't really notice it anymore. I almost bought this on XBox as it was that format that I played the demo on. The thing is, the XBox wheel is Pony so I went for the PS3 because I could use my DFGT. Much better:tup:
I'm glad I went PS3 bound too, because all you guys are rocking that version too so I know I'll get some clean racing opponents

To be honest, the deadzone and weak FFB has not really raised it's head as to be mentioned again once people have got used to it, it's certainly not effecting peoples consistancy in online races to be able to sit 2mm off my left wing mirror at 100mph in the parabolica! And yes I think the racing online is set to continue for quite a while, were just now starting to "learn" some of the more "interesting tracks" online......I feel I best apologise before each race for the next week or so LOL

Oh yeah the blackbean guy told me who he was on the headset........and he was racing like some stig robot!

Thats fair enough, i mean, 1, i know your a clean racer, 2, your only really within a second of what i said and 3, your realy fast.

As opposed to being 6 seconds quicker :(, i mean i know im crap on the brakes but........ LOL

At Imola I do manage to get the grips with the AI on the first half of the lap (on the acqua minerali sector check I was able to be just 1.2xx seconds behind pole position).

Its the last part that's killing me (including Acqua Minerali, Variante Alta & the first right on the Rivazza). I enter in 5th gear, reduce to 4th on the acquamineralli 1st part and 3rd on the 2nd part (uphill), variante alta I'll do it in 4th gear but it's hard to point correctly the car since you don't see the second apex, and the first rivazza in 2nd. (3rd usually means the kitty litter visit)

I only just noticed this; Post count up to 547 including this one. Not bad for a game that most websites/ reviewers have largely ignored. Just shows how much love fellow GTP'ers have for this game!👍

If in Legend level, the best I manage is to be 1 sec. behind the 18th position in qualifying session (1:47:xxx - pole usually is around 1:44). During race I manage to keep the pace of the back of the pack but overtaking... is a nightmare (never got above 16th and still, in the following lap some one would toss me out of the road)

What car are you driving? There is a big difference in cars. M5 and 550i seems a good all rounders, Merc is strong too and Audi with it's easy controllability. About the Chrysler I don't know, but at least AI drive fast with it and it has quite good values too. Some cars like the Chevy, Caddy and Maserati are cars that you need to push on the limit all the time on some tracks when driving on Legend.

Theres more posts and thread views (10,000+) than the thread for the excellent BF BC2 !!!!

I'm most unimpressed bretherin, what happened to "underground" and as for the lobby being 10+ strong all night that's just compounding your incompitence! right sort it out between the lot of you but I want 3 severed gaming thumbs on my desk by the morning! Oh and the head of Tessiock or whoever was ds driving that JaaaaG last night!

On a more serious note, Neil has a cold and is going to the doctors this afternoon (lets hope he dosn't kill this one as well) So a bit of self restraint guys, he's only gone for a couple of hours and will be back, another repeate performance of last time and nuns or no nuns there will be severe repremands!

For me in the Merc, its 5th on the brakes through the first part of aquamineralli dropping to 3rd for the uphill, making sure i hit the apex. (Slower as tyres wear)

And 4th through variante alta, i normally take both rivazza's in 3rd, as 2nd normally results in me losing the back end.......

Oh yeah before i foget, that Tessiok is Italian, and was 10th in the world on the final GT Academy standings......

Yeah, I would mirror Jizzy's approach. As far as the first Rivazza is concerned the key point to get right is the braking. With such a downhill run to the corner it's important to brake earlier than you might think and generally 3rd will keep the car well balanced.

Ahhhh right, I'd heard his name somewhere before, He was quick enough but I'd place him mid to rear of the field in our races, I certainly was quicker than him and I'm not the fastest guy on the track by a longshot. He made time up by cutting then just uses you as a buffer to get round corners, I did see him spin (entirely on his own I add) on his last race in the wet in Imola, he simply quit at that point. The problem was hed get among the new guys at the begining, lean on one and that would be it, utter carnage. He may be able to put fast laps in on GT5 but he certainly cant race! Simply goading him into stupid mistakes was childsplay, leave a door open or get off line and brake early would see him lunge for overtakes that simply wern't there and he'd simply overdrive the car into the gravel. When you do the same thing to the guy 3 times in a row and he just reacts the same way everytime you know the guy ain't thinking straight LOL I have to add here I never once returned a punt or barge on this guy, even so he still would run into me at every opertunity and everyone else on the track. Getting ahead was easy keeping from being punted off on the next turn or being caught up again as he cut every corner going was another story..........It dose send a shiver up your spine thinking of thousands of these "racers" waiting to get online with GT5........Hand me my prozac dear I'm just nipping online with GT5.

Right I've ranted enough times about this guy now, I'm going to stop repeating myself LOL

More or less the same, in the first rivazza I lack of a correct braking point - I either brake too early, or too late.

Oh, usually the car is either the 550i or the 300c

My first race with you guys was at Mugello. A lot of familiar faces (Arvore, Hereward, Bigjizzy, Frawe, Turnupdaheat) and some I didn't know. Full lobby which is always a nice thing (well, most of the times...). Yesterday wasn't one of those...

Started 6th and off we go down the straigh towards the 180º uphill right turn. Some rubbing before the braking point in the struggle to find the best spot for that turn, and a small incursion on grass, so I've decided to go a take the corner wide, as far as possible on the left. Saw some cars crashing in the inside at the apex, got through from the outside (nice) and then... hell was loose! On the next 4 corners I dropped from 9th to last being punted in every single braking point both from behind as well as the side, even on the apex when you hit the gas! I think Frawe was the only one who pass me without saying "Hi!" (read: beat the **** out of my rear bumper)

Ok, no harm done, probably this is just "close" racing (:dopey: naïf, naïf) let's get back on track! On the first turn at lap 2 I managed to pass Frawe (we outbraked himself and end up wide of track). On the seconf left-right corner combination, I managed to get the guy in front of him who also missed the line and went wide off track. On the following section point I saw that I was behind the next guy by 7 seconds. I was surprised that on the last corner in lap 3 I managed to see him struggling for car control in the finishing straight so I went for a chase fast lap, as clean as possible to try and catch him which I eventually did. But when I passed him (on that tricky right downhill followed by a long left) right on the next double right uphill I was punted intentionally! I managed to regain position entering the last corner on that lap (aggressively I recognize! - but he had it coming!) and went on for last lap, however always fearing to be violently hit in the back every time I brake for cornering. I managed to finish 9th.

Anyway, I was quite frustrated from all the punting BANG!--- BANG!.... BANG!... I simply left!
👍

This was a very frustrating last night. I didnt had a race without being punted except the first one. Always get hit from behind and the side pulling me off the track and ending after the first corners in last position with a gap of 10 sec. and more. I know due the lack of situational awarness it is difficult to see where the others are but when I am behind a car I can see when to brake and avoid a collision. All starts were horrible because they drove as it is no tomorrow. I mean the race goes for 5 laps or more. There should be plenty of opportunities to make a clean pass on a slower driver like me. I simply had (in german) "Die Schnauze voll".

Yeah, it was frustrating alright. I suspected it would be a troublesome night when at the start of my first race I took off in a straight line and as I built up some speed I suddenly received an almighty smack at the rear which threw the car into a 180 degree spin. I ended up sideways into the barrier facing completely the wrong way and some words like "Oh dear" going through my head!

Yeah punted by the jaaag several times last night, i also think we should run closed lobbies in championship mode. Qick race mode just penalises those that have been on longest with back of the grid starts.

Just got this game today and i like what I've seen so far. I've only done a few quick races but I can see that the single player mode could be a lot of fun. The handling isn't quite like SCC, but it is good. And I've not got the best of it yet as I've not tried adjusting any of the settings yet. Certainly the AI seems to be putting up a great fight while still not being all banzai about it. Which is nice...

I also really like the system for alerting you of corners / braking points. It's nice and unobtrusive but it gets the informaiton across well.

I won't venture online yet until I get more of a feel for the game - right now I'd be a collision hazard for a few turns, until the good players ultimately left me in the dust.

A quick question - do car adjustments make much of a difference? This is not an area I enjoy usually but I was wondering would I need to tweak and optimise the performance to the nth degree in order to be competitive offline or online?

They do. And if you are not into it just do this (it'll earn you a PSN Trophy also LOL ). Pick a car and a track and try ALL presets from Race to Quali to "Reactive" to whateverelse there is. You will notice the differences, and maybe you'll find the preset that suits you the most.

In my case, I found out, while driving the Jaaag around Vallelunga, that the quickest preset for me was the "Reactive" one. I lapped quicker with that one than with the "Quali" preset.

However, If you like tuning, you can avoid presets and do your own experiments.

Or use a preset then go and tune it to try and just get a bit more out of the car. Online however you don't need to worry about tuning, all the cars are given a base line tune.

Beware however in championship some of the guys have found custom tunes make the game hang on some of the earlier tracks.

I think a list of tracks where this bug strikes would be helpful to everyone guys, anyone care to recall any?

STICKLER the problem with your wheel sounds fixable, interested to know if air line sorts the problem. If you decide to get a G27 they have changed the switch housings for the paddle shifters which is supposed to prevent this problem.

i tried logitech for spares, the only spares they do are the complete units, pedals, steering and h gate. so if its the switch and its not from a 3rd party that could be the end of that, not had a chance to get my compressor out yet to give it a blast, fingers crossed should get a g27 delivered any time after tuesday next week. does v8 support the red lining led's on the wheel?

So far I had freezes in Magionne,Mugello and Portimão...

Yeah leds work with G27, although for me i'd have to look down to be able to see them when racing, so not much use. The paddle shifters feel really good, just hope the new design means it'll last 5 years couldn't afford a new one every two years! :nervous:

Cheers for that, really aprecated.

So to recap, beware any track with the letters M and O in them............:sly:

Hi everyone! Thank you all for those good races a couple of nights ago! A question: anybody has compared g25-g27... and ps3 controller? I mean, how do you think to get the best laps? Differences? ty

Not sure many could compare between G25 and G27, you'd need both wheels to do it, anyone got both wheels? I;ll quickly say DFGT V's pad in V8 is the usual, whrrls more precise but pad is quicker to catch slide, but thats prety much a generic thing when compareing pad V's wheel

Hi guys
