Thanks a lot! The ones on youtube never show a wheel being used with the game.
Reading your review and watching 2 videos made me feel like I had to get it! Thanks for evrything.

It will be later tonight, and will be the worse possible quality LOL I'll try and rig my laptop webcam an iorning board and something to sit on so I can get the wheel and the game in shot.......this may be interesting LOL

Right heres the video....yes it's bad, used the macbook perched on a chair LOL Imola WET all assists off, damage and collisions on. Using the DF-GT and excuse the wild flailing I jumped on quick so my driving was a bit eratic LOL Oh yeah I placed myself 8th on grid on hard AI level. It really is quite bad...........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTRfHE-AZy0

Sound is really low, and yes thats my wife calling my son down for his dinner 5 seconds before I lose the back end.......well I did say I quickly jumped on to make it LOL You'll also note I piled into the back of 3 cars at he end of lap 1.....I was changeing the view settings for the video and missed the brake lights up ahead....that "little" dink left the car with steering and brake damage......just to make things a little harder LOL

Stuck a suitable audio track on it now LOL

^ Great Video! That is exactly what I was looking for.....(kinda) hahaha
I just wanted to see how the wheel in the game mimics the ffbw. Thanks

Avore and Bullie i am frustrated like you... I see Derik is plugging away at it. LUCKY HIM..

@Turnupdaheat: Can't you change control configuration.? I hope it's only the stick that can't be used.. in SBK and V8SS both milestone/blachbean the pad is fully changeable for player preference..

Just had one of the MAG Clan guys around. stuck him on the game for about an hour then let him lose online........add one to the "love it" list, he'll be picking it up tommorow, on his 3rd race at imola he'd settled in to the physics and control system and was starting to bring his laptimes down with good consistant driving. His online race was a good 3rd placing ou of 5 racers, all were clean. I had a quick 1 on 1 with a guy online as well, he consistantly pulled away from me over a 5 lap race until the end of lap 3 where he'd amased a 4 second lead on me, then his over exuberance got the better of his tyres and I slowly realed him in to pass him 4 corners from the end of the race, wound up winning by about half a second....pure gold LOL

Chilli, you can change the controller configuration to suit your preference. Unless, of course, your preference happens to be to use the stick!

Only if you are a pad user. This is probably what annoys me the most, not being able to reassign wheel buttons.

Thanx Derik..
Perfect i only use the sticks for my bike games.. Better throttle control.. For cars the sticks aren't important old V8 version i use the buttons only..
Thanx Guys..

It has ARRIVE!

i bought it yesterday at a local store, so far just played around for a few minutes because i'm very busy at the moment. first impressions:

+ menus seem very intuive and i felt right at home. being a graphic designer myself, i'm always enraged about how clumsy most menus are, and how they can piss you off by constantly getting into the way (shift being the worst example of the games i own)
+ loading times are very short. actually i was surprised how quick i was into a race, as the game does not install any data on the harddrive. i had to eject my scc-disk for sv8nc, so my timing might be a bit out of perspective ;)
+ graphics looked great so far, not on par with gt5 or shift, but definately competitive.
+ you can customize your hud, which i love. you can turn on/off any part of the info displays, and scale hud transparency from 0–100%
+ the selection of cars and tracks may be not on the scale of other games, but better a dozen of well-made cars and enjoyable tracks instead of 50 ****** ones.

– you can't configure your hud while you're in game. at least i haven't found an option to do so, the video options are greyed out. so you have to fiddle around a bit, start a race to look if you're comfortable with it, quit the race, continue to adjust settings etc. quite bothersome espacially for the hud transparency. if i'm just too stupid to find any on-the-fly options please tell me so.

as i have just booted up the game for a few minutes before work, i can't make any comments about sound (my girlfriend was still asleep), physics or AI. but the game looks quite promising, can't wait to spend some time on track this evening :)

Hopefully I'll recieve it too today! Fingers crossed. :dunce:

About the amount of cars and tracks, there are plenty! I think it definitely makes a difference driving sunny or wet and what cars are concerned, happy with that too. Only cars I'm interested in are the Maserati and the Jaguar. By the read of it it has decent AI and good close racing. What do we possibly want more? The price is great, it has not been hyped and reviews are comming in from gamers themselves.

Really looking forward to driving/racing this and hopefully spend a couple of nice session online 👍

I'll be waiting for you guys at Imola with my underdog Jag :D

btw, I strongly suggest you guys take the drivers licenses seriously and only start the actual racing when you get an "S" in all of them. They are a good introduction to the game, the cars and the tracks.

in Italian it is said:
questo gioco mi intrippa :D ( I don't know whether to translate it :sly: )
not and' a true simulation but and' very amusing 👍
I have tried different competitions online , to now any problem,
tonight on the mugello I have met turnupdaheat :
man you are incredibly fast compliments 👍
I think that good competitions online can be organized 👍

I have written on the site milestone to ask improvements for dead zone steering and other improvements ,we hope there is a patch.

regards, I hope to make soon a video (unfortunately the replay cannot be saved :guilty:)

sorry for my english.....

Yeah,Mario i'll be taking your advice and take 1 or 2 nights to familiarize with cars/tracks before i get on anybody else's way:dopey:

But maybe we could do a private lobby with Bullie just to give it a try in a familiar track to us all-say Mugello for instance-and check out the online features...👍

The suspense is killing me! I can't take it......:grumpy:

I ordered last Wednesday from cdwow.us hopefully I get it soon!
We should have some good online matches:sly:

I'm all in to it.

Hey all, Im the "MAG Clan guy" Hereward mentioned in his post. New to the forum but its good to see like minded racers do exist online :)

Like he said after a couple of races i was sold. It heavily rewards smooth driving and consistency. Although in the race i was about 8 seconds a lap off the pace at the start, by lap 5 I was less than 3. In part because i had speeded up and in part because i hadnt ruined my tyres.

The tyre degradation is very realistic, and makes a genuinely big difference to the performace of the car.

I also like the persistent weather conditions, the way the wet line gets slowly drier and in the dry the racing line gets more grip as the laps go on........

Im sure ill see you all online soon.

Cheers

J

Is there any communication from Milestone with the community in Italian forums?
The original V8 was never patched, Milestone has no forums. They just recently opened a blog (http://blog.milestone.it) but there isn't a single entry about V8 and they don't reply to comments.

I bought this game today after reading everyone's impressions of it in this thread.

I went along to my local GAME and GameStation stores today to look for it and neither of them had it out on the shelves. When i asked at GAME if they had it in stock, they pulled out a copy from behind the counter. I thought this was quite bad as it's only been out for less than week. Unless you knew that you wanted to buy it, you wouldn't even know it existed!

Anyway, enough of the rant. My first impressions after a couple of hours are good. The AI seems very reminiscent of the early TOCA series on PS1. They put up a good fight with you and each other. The graphics as already stated wont rival Forza or GT5P but they do the job well and neither of those two games have dynamic track conditions or 19 cars on track at once.

The racing can be really hectic at times but thanks to the consistent handling (are you listening NFS SHIFT?) it's really enjoyable fighting your way through the pack.

There may not be many tracks (13 I think) but most of them are tracks I've not raced on in other games. They seem like all Italian tracks (?), which is good because they're all new to me so it makes up for the lack of tracks.

I've only had a brief chance to play online and I found that there weren't many rooms set up (none I could enter anyway) so I set up my own and soon enough we had 7 of us racing. Good clean passing etc for the most part and no noticeable lack.

Overall, after a couple of hours playing I'd have to rate this as one of the best racers on PS3.

Portimão (:grumpy:) is in Portugal (very recent track, one of the best in the world presently - accordingly to several international expertise).
Kyalami is in South Africa (mythical GP circuit - surprised you didn't know that).

(that last line made me wonder... when will someone pull out a PS3 game with f1 from the classic eras '60-'80 with all those mythical tracks? Zandvoort, Kyalami, Zolder, Hockenheimring (original), Nurburgring, Spa (original), so on, so on...)
