Big rims can work on old muscle cars.

Probably the rims themselves, or the actual car, but I'm just not getting it...

They do, when the rest of the car is modernized enough to make a standpoint case for the wheels. In the case of that GTO, they don't, as the car is largely stock-looking on the outside. A set of 17/18-inch Americans would look better in that car.

A little low for my liking, but I like how they cleaned up the body and made the valance and side scoops part of the body. 👍
 
That car is one of the most perfect restomods ever. Improvements are subtle, yet they give it perfect balance of classy style and agression.
 
I know! Anything more on the outside and it would ruin the harmony of period correct mods it has right now..

I couldn't find a decent side view pic of a stock Tahoe for comparison, so I'll just give a list of the mods since it's a pretty subtle job: Silverado SS wheels, Escalade roof rails, LED taillights, amber side marker delete within the headlights, and the d-pillar panel was swapped for a smooth piece, rather than the ribbed panel that comes stock.
