TCV5 HURRY THE HELL UP thread

I can't wait for the Supercars to be posted, any premature quote on rough indications of time when it might go up??

My thoughts exactly. I have an excuse for not doing mine straightaway, what's your excuse in.s@ne?? :sly:

T minus 6hrs to go for me before I leave for new pastures.....:nervous: Hopefully by this time tomorrow I will be posting from PF's computer on the way and having the first "unofficial" Aussie GTP Event. 👍:P:lol:

Jeez, is the S-license really this easy? I just golded S2 on my first try. lol And that was with an embarassing wall-tap towards the end.

Yes, it really is that easy. I think it's the easiest of all because you can make many mistakes during your lap and still reach a gold time because they give such a margin of error. I remember spinning out (a complete 360) on S14 and still golding it.

Hey people, it's Mafs here. I've just arrived at PF's (hence why I'm posting under his username!! :P) and checking things with his setups so we can fiddle with it and put his times up with RJ's & Max's.

Now, I've had a bit of an 💡 moment and what I'm considering with PF is that we're going to do a special one-off thing for one of the categories. ;) Basically, he gets one car, I get another and we're going to race them head to head at ANOTHER circuit. This WILL NOT affect anyone's scoring as I'll be doing that when I arrive home, but it WILL be interesting to have a couple of good length races to check on the longevity of some cars. So if you've built a 1 lap wonder, this won't bode well for you. :scared:

Have fun boys and girls and we're going off to tear these cars apart. 👍:mischievous: Beware, the monkey is getting his hands on your stuff now. :D

I must be a rubbish driver then *cries*

HEy, how about I send you my password so you can post under Parnelli, too? Hell, what's in a name anyways...

So here's my DUNCE CAP story of the day kids. :dunce: Gather round! :dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce:

I'm doing Tandem's DeLorean. Got it all set up, and I'm trying to go for best lap. :dunce: Anyways, I'm going round and around Twin Ring...I can't even approach his time of 1:24.xxx. :dunce:

Finally, I give up. I'm like "screw this...it's getting late, nobody cares about my dumb lap time, let's just wrap up Middleweight and move on".

So I restart the console, so I can drive the DeLorean as a stock car for the stock comparison part. :dunce: I already own a DeLorean, you see. ANyways, I go to the track, and enter the Settings mode. Since I already own this car, it has some parts installed when I start up the game.

Anyways...(get this). I remove all the parts. Then I look at the BALLAST WEIGHT. Guess what? :dunce: There was 173 KG'S OF BALLAST installed!!!! :dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce: In other words, I had driven this car at some point in the past, and ADDED ballast weight for whatever reason. But when I was driving the DeLorean with Tandem's car, I FORGOT TO REMOVE THIS PREVIOUSLY SAVED BALLAST! :dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce:

Anyways, happy ending. :) I removed said ballast, and redrove his car WITHOUT it. Much better lap times. 👍

? Can't you just go into arcade and drive it there in stock form without the parts?

New to the tuning section. Sorry if I should be looking somewhere else.

Arcade quick tune is NOTHING in comparison to tuning in GT Mode. Parnelli would've had to reset it anyway.

And guess what, I've made it home safe and sound. 👍 BIG thanks go to PF for the fun we had racing the various TCv5 rides against eachother, and for the re-inspiration he gave me. Let's just say, out of the 4 cars we put head to heading against eachother, one was a standout, one was decent but could've been better, the third was surprising due to it's settings and the fourth was disappointing due to it's settings. I ended up with my eyes becoming so sore after being up since 4am I literally couldn't drive anymore laps and organising settings. He even taught this monkey a trick or two. ;)

But it will be good to finally take these cars to Motegi and tear them apart once and for all. Heavyweight will be first as they were the cars we were using and I have a fresh recollection in my mind.

Heheh. Should be interesting to see where my Charger winds up :D

Slow, slow, slow and slow, every kind of steer, etc etc etc shaddap. It's from the 60s.

No worries mate it was a pleasure. I still can't believe we didn't get those last .005 for the drag tune, with a decent run we should crack it.

Testing the TCv5 tunes against each other was a very good idea and really showed the differences (not necessarily good or bad) between the tunes.

@RJ: The Charger is a bloody entertaining ride because of, not despite, its eccentricities.

Psst, there's a reason I didn't try to make it Japanese ;)

That's not 1/2 the reason RJ. Your car was involved in the race of the night between PF & I. ;) He had the GME Superclubby, and I had your bucket. :P I've never driven a car so hard to stay infront of someone that was driving a car that would destroy the car I was driving, and when you BOTH know the track it takes some real effort to do so. It took some adapting of driving style compared to my upcoming Charger tune for GME but when I got into it, I was drifting around 2-3 corners at a time at insane speeds to keep ahead. I expected a faster laptime though around GVS. :indiff:

Is Macca part of a garage?

Otherwise, I'm almost done with Middleweight. Hopefully should have results up by tomorrow nite, assuming there's no power-outages, my PS2 slim doesn't die, or other such nonsense.

AFAIK I don't think so PB. He's just an independent tuner, with no garage as such.

Just call it's Macca's garage or something. :P

Parnelli, where in my parts list do you see a limited slip? It's not there and I don't understand the confusion here... Sorry if it makes you retest but it is the way I entered the car :/

This *should* fix a decent bit of that understeer you've seen from it on throttle as well as help it rotate in a little quicker.

Don't worry RJ, I've already looked at it myself and proof-reading the results as we're going along.

Give him a re-test PB or I'll never hear the end of it from RJ. :sly::lol: Just a 10 lap re-test and that's it, we don't need you doing 400 miles per car again. 👍

Yea, you're right. I got confused cuz you made that "LSD set at defaut" comment in you Settings notations. But I'll retest your car without the *added* LSD tomorrow

Other mistakes: I put codename's car with a 1:26.6xx lap time, but this has been corrected. It is now 1:21.6xx.
