I'm sure they didn't. I was just being silly.

I was being serious. This isn't some stupid moan like reversing lights on GT5. If the windscreen in driving/racing games on the original Playstation could be obscured by rain it shouldn't be missing in a game like TDU on a next-gen console or a PC.

So is the beta happening or not? There is only about 2 months before release and surely a good chunk of that time will be production and distribution which leaves little time for testing the game and fixing any bugs.:nervous:

I really hope so, I haven't heard anything, but like you say it's looks to be a short beta period at the moment.:nervous:

Looking to be the end of this month. It will, unfortunately, be a short beta period.

Do you know if this is it going to by invite only or open release?

I like the look of what I've seen so far but I've not played the first game so at the risk of sounding thick what's the point of the game? Is it just driving or do you have an avatar and property like in a GTA game?

You have to apply to be in the beta, people (who fit the right criteria) will be chosen at random. http://www.testdriveunlimited2.com/beta

The game is more focused on the driving itself, in first game you could own property and you'll be able to do this again in TDU2 with yachts also, in this installment you can move your avatar around in certain shared areas such as dealerships, property and I believe inside clubhouses, however not to the extent of GTA.

The off road physics at 1:08 look great, very realistic. All my left over money from my holiday here in Japan will be going towards this for sure :)

They said it would be 2-3 weeks a while back, hopefully it is at least the minimum 2 weeks.

You apply at tdu2.com for the BETA and they will probably choose from that. You can own as many properties as you want, own as many cars as you can fit in those, drive them around anywhere you like and apparently in this one you can have a customisable avatar which can walk around in certain areas. The game is basically to put you in the shoes of a guy who can own many very expensive houses and cars and you can free roam with those as you wish (bad explanation but thats the jist of it).

EDIT: Everything costs money which you earn doing various things like races or deliveries.

 Tommi and Legendary 👍

I've just signed up and registered for the beta...I was quite generous about the number of hours gaming I do per week ;)

It sounds pretty good, kind of similar to GT's ethos of loving cars but from a very different angle. I think I read somewhere that it features Ibiza and Hawaii and you can fly or sail between them taking your cars with you which sounds pretty cool. I've got a few games to get through but I should be in the market for a new game by September to tide me over until November.

On the TDU2 website there's an article about Paul Oakenfold DJing at the E3 party, not that he was ever cool in my eyes but that haircut is a disgrace!

Suddenly today I remembered about TDU Beta, and thought that maybe I wasn't picked, considering how late we are, or how close we are to the release date.

By reading this thread I understand that nobody got into the beta yet (at least, the public one). And that makes me think that this "Beta" is only meant to raise the awareness level for this game, and not to really test it/find bugs/provide feedback. I guess it's a bit too late for that now.

So, an "almost public" demo. This has a consequence, IMO it will be open to many players, and not only a selected few, as it would happen if it was a "serious" hard-working BETA.

Same applies if what they want to do is a servers-stress-test, therefore asking hundreds/thousands of guys worldwide to go online on TDU2 all at the same time. They'll need numbers for that.

So ... I keep hopeful that I will play this game (or a demo version of it) before September :)

The TDU1 BETA was actually the full game, which was awesome. But it did kinda suck 'cause you got the full game expecting a little bit more and...well...you DID have to start from the beginning again. I think if they do a BETA they should reward the BETA participants with something...like, not having to start all over again.

I sure hope they change the release date. Because releasing it 1 week after Halo Reach is not smart marketing at all.

They appeal to completely different markets, I don't think there will be much of a problem.

Thank you. That is one of my favorite Aston Martins!!! Dang that video got me pumped. Cant wait!!!

I believe the BETA has started already and because of that I guess they are keeping quiet. I have dug around a bit lately and people are being hushed about the BETA and being told that if anyone discusses being accepted it is a breach of the NDA.

I do still hope that some news comes out soon though as it is about 1 month and a half till release.

No one really knows, sometime in the last week or so, only a small number of people have gotten in so far.

one question: When is the release date??
I thought it's end september but amazon.uk has it listed end october??

Sounds like the Open Beta will pop out after the closed Beta and might be out up until few days before the game comes out. They're doing an Open Beta instead of a demo, so...We'll see what that means. But expect more than a couple weeks to play it. :P

EDIT: Also, the 2010 Camaro has been seen in screenshots. I would assume that means the 2009 Challenger is in, as well. I don't think I've played a game that had one, but not the other.

I am not buying any of that for a second till I see a source. I applied for the BETA months ago on the first day you could and I see no sign of it, I really doubt at this point they will do an open beta. The one good thing it could do is test the servers, other than that the rest can be done in a closed beta.

So, link please.

I'm not gonna link, 'cause you can google it yourself.

Also, we should start a GTP Club in TDU2 once it comes out.

Whats your problem dude? We have been officially warned and your still being annoying to me? I asked a question that is frequently asked on a forum, I asked for a source. You cant go in here and say stuff without proof alright? It doesn't work like that at all!

What do you think I did after reading your post mate? Sat there and let you do all the work for me? No I did not, I went on google, I went to the official TDU 2 forums which I am a member of and I see NOTHING! Absolutely zilch. Why do you think I asked you for a source? Cause I am too lazy to bother looking myself? No no no no!!

Look at this Google Search.

If that doesn't come up with results, what will? Gosh man, you really know how to rub people up the wrong way. Now I will ask again, could I please have a source or link to this 'open beta' information.
