That Game Informer review claims you can't use custom soundtracks and that's a 360 review. I've not tried the custom soundtrack in a game that doesn't support it; does it mix in with the game sounds or block them out?

The media player on the 360 will play along with game sounds.
You will have to set up the levels yourself.
Obviously getting out of the car will destroy any illusion of a car radio though.

Not really a major feature is it.

Pre-ordered my PS3 copy..... with the Caterham after a week of deciding which bonus car to go for.

I'm also wondering if my g27s' clutch will work.

The clutch will work on release day, but apparently it's not quite ready yet so an update will come out soon afterwards. It's more of an on/off switch than a clutch at the moment. Until then, it's best to just use the paddle shifters.

Thats a shame considering TDU has full clutch support...ahh I was hoping it would work like that from day 1 and I could actually enjoy clutch work unlike on GT5.

Oh well, as long as it ever gets put in I am a happy man :).

The Vehicle Close up this week was for the McLaren MP4-12C. It looks pretty freakin' awesome, actually. TDU2 might actually compete with Shift 2 and Motorstorm 3 for Racing Game of the Year.

I'm definitely getting this game. I just can't decide whether to get it for PS3 or PC.
I'd really like to see side by side shots for a comparison to see how noticeable the graphics improvement is on a high end PC.

I'm getting this one ! I only hope that they improve the physics because on TDU1, they were a shame :(

Anyway, the whole concept idea of this games is pretty awesome too.

A bit unfair to say that isn't it.

Are you really super or am I made of pasta? And as for Famine, have you seen his belly. (Sorry Famine).

I've already sold it on eBay for a pound more than I paid (after fees.) The arcade handling isn't for me, it would have been ok if it was up to Burnout/NFS standard, but it isn't. Graphically it is terrible, the fact there is a photomode is laughable after playing GT5.

As for the notion I'm lying, here's where I bought it http://www.simplygames.com/info/18542/ they have been shipping it early.

Well, considering that the game just went gold on Monday, there is a possibility that they're selling pre-gold copies, too. ALWAYS, always always always be very wary of people trying to sell games early. 9 times out of 10, they're selling crappy, inferior copies, and taking people for suckers...'cause people are stupid and gullible.

As for me, I'm getting the game at 10am on Monday, so I'll hold my judgements until then.

Considering his name is "booted" I assume he's lying and is a spammer. The only people that would have it by now would be reviewers...or hackers.
Assume he's lying! Not very good that.
Ummm...right. Can we possibly stay on topic?
I was defending a person whom I know nothing about, conversly neither do you.

Agreed stay on topic.

Sorry for double post.

I remember people saying this with a GT5 non damage version prior to release.
You may be right however.

Really have to wonder why people that want sim physics even bother with consoles, there are much better sims in the PC world.

Anyways, going to wait for some reviews to see if it's worth buying.

It was a sealed copy with instruction manual... A number of people bought the game from the same website and are very happy. I wasn't, we can't all enjoy the same games. Btw, the online experience is ruined by people who insist on crashing into you, though this could be said of any driving game.

I don't think your anymore stupid or gullible than a person who's dropping the cash on it before making a descision.
Maybe better to see some reviews or better read the feedback on these forums from honest users.

I don't think the physics are the aim of this game. More of a collecting, online community aspect.
Which is fine in itself. Certainly there's a Market for this type of thing.

The framerate is the first thing that hits you, it just gives off a very "last gen" feeling. I don't mind arcade handling, if it's done well. This just feels unresponsive. It seems like the game doesn't know what it wants to be - a driving experience where you collect cars? Why then do you earn money for "close calls" drifting and jumps?

Every individual aspect of TDU2 has been done better in other games.

PS, I must stress this is the PS3 version, the screenshots and video from the PC version are like a completely different game... I won't get into 360/PS3 comparisons. Fanboys are boring.

Again, I'm gonna hold my opinions until I've played the game. I rarely actually listen to reviewers opinions 'cause a lot of the times, they have different opinions on things than I do. (Heck, G4 named Split/Second as racing game of the year...over NFS HP and GT5.)

As for people crashing into you. That tended to happen in the first game, as well. I remember driving along minding my own business and getting smashed into. It was really annoying when you were on a car transport mission.

That's one of the reason why the PS2 version of TDU1 was better. And even with the 360 version, playing offline was little bit better most of the time...except you couldn't access your DLC cars.

No, I use a pad.

I agree about making your own mind up. I find reviews to be nonsense. I tend to get games early because it's easier to sell them without loss if you don't like them than if you wait - most games drop significantly in price soon after release.

Did you play the other Test Drive Unlimited? It was excellent on the 360. Still one of my favorite racing / cruising games. Also, despite what the developers say, TDU will always be more of an arcade handling game.

I owned on the 360 and PS2. I preferred the PS2 version. for several reasons.

1. The GPS gave you the shortest route possible, even if it had to lead you down wrong way on a one way street

2. You could select the difficulty of the races. So, if you wanted a challenge, you could set it to Hard, or if you wanted to just get some easy cash, you could set it to easy.

3. No unlocking roads. The entire map was open from the very beginning.

4. There were some cars in the PS2 version that weren't in the 360 version and visa versa.

5. You could tune cars you couldn't in the 360 version like the ME412 to make them even FASTER!

Really, the only downsides to the PS2 version were the fact that there wasn't any paint shops, no DLC, and no Maserati and a couple other brands.

But, anyway, TDU has been about just cruising I thought. The hidden junkers will help encourage this. Heck, the first thing I did in TDU1 was find all the dealers and do the car delivery missions just to explore the Island. That's the same thing I'm gonna do in TDU2.
