It possible to tune TH8rs with a pc software but this one is still in beta testing.
But I saw a demo of this sofware, and I have waiting for the agreement from Thrustmaster,
before to make a video on the tuning software...

Still in beta when the driver software is at v2.0.0.0 and the calibration software at v1.0.7.0. Odd beta numbers. Beta is usually at v0.x and alpha at v0.0.x.

Anyhow. I am looking forward to any review as I'm way too curious about this thing.

I'm going to mail my supplier to see when they will ship mine. I bought at centralpoint.nl

It seems Centralpoint.nl is now saying 24th that they'll be in stock. So i'll probably have them the 25th.
I'm dissappointed, but I know the reason. At the end of the week the F1 season ends and if Vettel wins Kaz (GT5 maker) said he wants to hold a special seasonal event. Then after that on the week of the 17th he wants to release the Spec 2.0 update. Which will highly likely include support for the TH8 RS.
My bet is that Thrustmaster and Polyphony talked and decided to move that a week so that the shifter is out after the Spec 2.0 update, so everyone can happily use the thing with the PS3 on at least that game.

LOL, I noticed in the movie that the pro driver interviewed is actually having problems with the calibration. He wants a shorter shift I think, since he has problems getting it in gear. If I did that on my real car... oh the crunching gear sounds hurt my ears already thinking about it.

There is still 5 races left in this F1 season. It's just that the world champion title will go to Vettel as he only needs 1 more point to be WC (out of a possible 125) There's still plenty of action to come especially when watching for who will come 2nd/3rd.

It could be that there is some TH8 driver within the spec 2.0 update, though it may already have been implemented in the last update.

Btw.. that pro driver is the GT Acadamy winner from 2010.

My bad about the F1 season then. I haven't even watched a single race in the past 5 years. So please forgive me for not knowing ;)

Who knows, I can't wait to see what they'll bring. Hopefully improved headtracking which can be used in GT-mode as well. But anyway, that's not what this thread is about.

Oh he was? I haven't really followed the GT academy stuff. Besides, I only bought the game 2 weeks ish ago. I'd love to race him for fun sometime though. Its just that I find his gear shifting technique a bit too wild for my liking. Oh well...

I think im going to have to put in a pre-order. I'm starting to worry about supply not meeting demand. I recall the T500 was sold out for a while and resellers had quite a markup in price.

+Rep! 👍

Excellent post, thank you.

This shifter is looking more and more awesome each passing day! I love the flexibility of mounting choices, steering plate angle, sequential shifter and knob replacement.

You and me both. I wish they had some kind of special discount for all the people who want to pre-order both the F1 wheel add-on and the shifter together.

Just got a mail back from my supplier Centralpoint.nl and mine is being shipped the 15th. So that means I will have it on Monday the 17th or the next following day if there is a slight delay. Though delays rarely happen here.

Hi all,

Here is video on the TH8rs gear shifter, that I shot in Paris this week-end, during a french simulation exhibit (6e Mondial de la la Simulation 2011).

Enjoy it :-)

Thanks, added to the OP

I also saw that post by Logiforce but that interview was in another language with no subtitles so I'm not sure if I should add that one to the OP as well... It looked like a good video though...

GIGA Tech Gamescom Special - private chat with Thrustmaster:

thanks Pdreams I 've registered with the site however still a bit sckeptical, as received no email from them and I got an address etc but not sure if anyone used and vouch for VIA address

Hi all,

I've received the OK from Thrustmaster, to broadcast the video I made on the tuning software of the gear shifter TH8rs 👍, during the french show in Paris.
I will post as soon as the english subtitling will be done.

Cheers:)

Excellent. :)

So you've used it? How's the resistance when set to max and is it possible to adjust the throw (physical distance to engage gears) or will we need a new shift plate for that?

If you've read the manual which was pasted in one of the last pages, then you know the answer to the last question. Which is that throw is just the distance from neutral to when the gear activated software wise. So that way you can lift the clutch sooner. So yeah the travel of the physical lever stays the same at all time.

The resistance question is the one I'm very curious about too. Well since we have to wait foe translations, I'll better do some other stuff in the mean time.

Errr, yes I know...It was me that pointed it out :)

Just making sure by asking someone who's tried it

Whoops, that was true papapurs. I've been responding to so many threads in different places that I forgot who said what. Sorry for being such a doofus.

I am curious in one thing though when it cones to both questions. That is if you increase resistance high enough, will it shorten the throw? Cause the way I read it in the manual, it's the centering resistance that you adjust. So how strong it'll tend to go back to neutral.

Help us Frouns(e wan kenobi), you're are only hope ;)

Is confirmed that TH8 RS will work in GT5?.

The Spec 2.0 feature list did not say nothing about it.

If it doesn't, I'll be the one getting banned next Friday for the most offensive post ever written on GT Planet. Resplendent with unnecessary expletives and uncalled for racism towards the French nation. ;)

Compatibility may already be there for all we know. Yes, it will work with GT5.
From TH8 RS launch, you think?.

This don´t appears to be a problem for Polyphony people... :)

Going by the precedent, I think it will work from GT5 from launch but no other game, just like the T500RS only worked with GT5 when it first launched. Compatibility for other games will come eventually.

Amazing that throw and resistance can be adjusted. Does it have rumble LOL? For travel i think at some point someone will offer aftermarket shifter plates. I know there are modders for japanese arcade sticks that do similar things. Perhaps they can help.

The flexibility of this thing is amazing. I want to wait for fanatec css but i worry that if i do this thing will sell out. I'm putting in an order today. (probably still get fanatec later :dopey:)
