If we are enjoying our game, we just enjoy it! I know for sure I am loving GT5-Best GT yet in my eyes...

This was a thanks thread that invoked a discussion when the grouchers decided "HAR HAR U LIEK DIS GAEM...INVALlDATED POZT"
Don't argue with them, pity them. After all, aren't they the ones who's missing out on a great game?

Thanks PD and Kaz, the game's beauty may be nice and all but to be honest it's the gameplay I love!

I would just like to say well done to the team at Polyphony too.

The colour palette in this game and the atmosphere it creates is breathtaking. I don't know how many of you guys callibrate your tv's and screens but the game is amazing when all the colours on screen are as they were intended. The GT rally section night gravel course looks so good. The nurb small course also looks photo realistic.

In the areas that this game shows off in, there is nothing out there that even gets close to what it achieves. Well, in my opinion.. and what would be more important to me than that ;)

Despite its obvious and glaring problems, I love this GT a lot and it's very hard for me not to play this game everyday. All in all, I'm just glad to see another GT game finally released. 👍

I totaly agree, i thought this thread was to say thank you for all the hard work and dedication that has been put into this game. So all you whiners and whingers go and find another thread to moan in, and show your bad manners.
Lol you guys are hopeless, call this a GT forum... to many haters that are way to critical of this game. I wont call it perfect but its better than any racing sim out there on a console, FM3 or whatever...

Hate opening my browser to this crap, Im not saying we should worship the developers but enjoy a game that seems to have been done for the fans. I hear the most stupid complaints ever on this forum, give it up and get back to driving your self tuned car.
I also want to say well done to PD and Kaz for this game. I cant remember the last time i enjoyed a game as much and from now on i am ignoring the negative comments that are being posted about the game as they are ridiculous PD and Kaz must be laughing their arses off at them.:)

This is almost Sonic Fanbase sad.

Kaz simply bought a ride. The race team didn't ring up Polyphony and say "Kaz is just an enormous race talent, will he please race for us, we pay all bills"
You know what's sad about this whole exchange? That is exactly what happened. Kaz was invited to join the team. So... thank you Mr Know It All for the attempted schooling, but no thanks. You clearly don't know as much as you thought you did. ;)

I drove my first lap through Nürburgring Nordschleife yesterday, and was blown away once again. Especially the handling of the cars is great in this game, it's pretty clear where the development time was spent. Small graphical letdowns are a small price to pay for that. Amazing game, made in great taste. 👍 At the moment I feel this game will grow on us, and may be regarded in much greater prestige after the initial controversy.
For sure, the whole game offers a ton of awesome racing experience, but the Nordschleife in GT5 with any of these 1000 cars you want - assuming you have them - is simply the best thing in racing games. Unbeatable.

This is almost Sonic Fanbase sad.
No, what's sad is people posting in a thread they have no intention of following the topic to school us poor dummies.

Big thumbs up for Kaz Yamauchi and his team for an unbelievable game. The enormous effort put into the development of this game is very tangible. I can't believe all the whining I'm hearing. Guys guys... just have a big can of Shut the **** Up. Cheers.
👍

I've done my share of "whining" over GT5, and some of us are hoping to get some things improved, not tear into Kaz and his excellent team, especially since some of the problem is clearly SONY. But... good grief, GT5 does so many things so well.

I could quote most of the posts on this page alone. But instead, maybe I should show my appreciation by hitting the track. ;)

No actually, you know whats sad, the fact you compiled all our comments in one post, which would of taken some time and left that stupid comment underneath it.

I guess some people have very high expectations like you, so put that in all the other rubbish threads in this place. Yeah we agree with you, theres alot to be desired but all in all this is a great title and I am happy to play it over and over again ! 6 hours a day to be exact. I guess you are playing this game and bad mouthing it at the same time, kind of contradicting dont you think? send me your copy I know alot of peeps who would love to play it.

DLC will repair things for the future and this is promise by PD.

Bring it on.

Agus, I never said I did not appreciated the movies (I said I loved them, which is kinda the same). What I did say is that I do not appreciate the people who made them, in this case, Tarantino.

Basically, I do appreciate Tarantino's work. I don't appreciate him.

This is the key difference and why I bought "Leon the Professional" 4 times now but never sent Luc Beson a thank you note.

Thank you Mr. Kaz for best racing game ever! Very fun and realistic physics engine. So where is my DAMAGE PATCH?

Yeah. Ten seconds, wasted!

You see, this is the sad part. Not only do you casually dismiss threads that talk about problems with the game as "rubbish," but you have this ridiculous idea that the people with problems with the game shouldn't be allowed to post in threads that are positive.
This is funny for more reasons than I care to list, but most of all because the people who simply won't shut up about how kick ass perfect the game is don't hesitate at all from going into those negative threads and calling everyone idiots for having criticisms.

Don't see where anyone said otherwise.

Last I checked, I didn't need to be completely blind to a game's problems to get enjoyment out of it.

Dude, I cant be bothered arguing with you because judging by your reply, its pointless.

1) You came into a Thank You PD and Kazunori to call us sad. I think thats pretty pathetic.

2) I'm not one of those guys who go into negative threads, I would probably agree with most negative things said... the disability to save progress, the lack of ability to put wheels on standard cars, the lack of events etc etc fark me dead, its annoying to read. Its a problem but some people are too critical, way tooo critical. At the end of the game most of us bought a way crapper game for thesame price as this and were satisfied. I'm not saying there isnt room for improvement, theres alot they could of done to improve GT5 AND WILL via DLC so all this rubbish just burns me to read over and over and over again. This forum has been swamped with negativity and what was once a great place to actually talk about progress of the game turned into this lets bash PD and Kaz, yes they stuffed up and we have to make them aware but for christs sake, do we have to bag the smallest of things, we all know those posts where u think, yeah thats kind of way too pedantic.

Lets stick to the topic, alot needs to fixed but overall GT5 is still a good game, its no dealbreaker. Still fun! and thats what its meant to be about.

I actually didn't. I chose specific posts that were expressing the sentiment I just outlined and responded to those specific posts. I didn't say people who enjoyed the game were sad.

I am blinded by love! I love this game! I am satisfy with it.
It's not as perfect as we all thought it would be, it's not as perfect as we all expected it to be, it's not the most perfect game out there.
Regardless of your take on it, I still enjoy this game very much, and will continue doing so.
Right now it's the game disc that is completely stuck in my PS3, i dont think i will pop it out for years to come, i am enjoying all aspect of the game as i did with GT2 and GT4.

👍 Thank you Kaz for all the effort, please continue your work and effort for GT6 and perfecting your art! Ironically, I see this game as being the "Porsche" of all the games, over the years it does not change drastically, only to evolve and improve (slowly) progressively, and yet it is always highly regarded as respected product in its field.

Are you always this over-dramatic?

Being so has caused you to overreach and put words into Toronado's mouth. Doesn't help your argument.

Its called passion mate, something you wouldnt know about when stuck between the screen and flapping away on ur keyboard, as you can probably tell from my post count on this forum. I mainly read alot of whats written on here and not much writing. I've just noticed the high volume of whinging babies on here and sometimes its 100% required but most of the time its too painful to actually think people are complaining about the dumbest things on here.

Moving on, so should you.

But what exactly do you mean by "way tooo critical"? We have to draw a line somewhere. That 80% of the car list compared to the remaining 20% is lacking a lot of things is not being too critical. Pointing out that some tracks that were a stamp of the GT series disappeared is not being too critical. Most of the complaints I have heard in this forum were not a case of being "too critical".

What's worse, some of you say (and I've got identified one particular case) that we "complain" a lot about GT, but not about Forza. Well, guess what: If Forza came out on the PS2, I would sure be on a Forza forum, complaining about all that it does wrong. But since it doesn't come on the PS2, go figure... I couldn't care less about its shortcomings. Because it doesn't affect me at all.

How "dumb" something is to complain about is subjective, but you can't honestly say there aren't a bevy of legitimate complaints to be heard?

If you have really read this forum for long you have no doubt seen the ridicule of other games routinely... those ridicules were often far less than the complaints we are seeing of GT5 now... were those also so out of line?

Thank you for the decent reply.

Too critical is arguing that not all cars have a cockpit view, WTF! seriously that would take 10 years to release.
Too critical is arguing the point that there are many variations of the same car, some people who love the collecting cars part of the game, find it entertaining, some others dont.

I cant be bothered listing some of the stuff on here, doesnt it give you some comfort, knowing DLC could possibly fix any of these shortcomings.

Like I said previously I agree with some of the threads in here, alot of it is backed up by me but theres also alot of stuff thats over the top.

peace

Physics is number 1 in my book and should be for any true GT fan, true?

No worries. Just a tip, being passionate about something doesn't make a person right....

And for the record, I have stated it before, alot of the dumb things are subjective but also its easy to tell someone making a good point or giving a good recommendation or someone jumping on the bandwagon and just re-iterrating another persons reply. It gets old quickly, we all know what we want improved. Lets put this to Kaz formally... this is the right way to go about it so we can all be happy with the next string of updates. If you were to be put in charge of writing out this, you would agree that some people have made some crazy and over the top complaints, I mean very high expectations?

You cant possibly disagree with everything I am saying otherwise you just want to argue when I agree partially to what you guys are saying now.

My input on those issues :

Thank you for the decent reply.

Too critical is arguing that not all cars have a cockpit view, WTF! seriously that would take 10 years to release.

If so that's the fault of the project manager who didn't choose a reasonable level of detail for his project. For instance if I insisted every piece of lumber in a house was cabinet grade and hand sanded, the house might take 10 years to build... would it be ok if I just finished the kitchen and a bathroom and said "you wouldn't want to wait 10 years, here's what's doable in 5"?

Especially if the guy down the street has a fully useable house done in less time and on closer inspection the 10+ year house actually has some crappy lumber used in it anyway (look at the Lotus Elise cockpit)?

Too critical is arguing the point that there are many variations of the same car, some people who love the collecting cars part of the game, find it entertaining, some others dont.

The argument isn't that there are too many variations, just that the number of total is a bit misleading due to so many being duplicates and the theory that had they made less of those duplicates they could have spent that time on more unique ones.

I cant be bothered listing some of the stuff on here, doesnt it give you some comfort, knowing DLC could possibly fix any of these shortcomings.

It actually makes me really unhappy that somehow it's expected and acceptable these days to release an unfinished product and rely on DLC to make it whole. And as far as a fix that "could possibly fix" things, I don't put a lot of faith into those things.

Some things really can't be fixed by patching and some are just unreasonable to fix by patching. Of the things that it's reasonable to fix by patching, many of them come at cost (which isn't a fix if you ask me, it's another sale) and many of them just never come out.

Like I said previously I agree with some of the threads in here, alot of it is backed up by me but theres also alot of stuff thats over the top.

Physics is number 1 in my book and should be for any true GT fan, true?

Some things are indeed over the top, but MANY aren't. And physics is indeed the number one thing... but it's not the only important thing.

The number one thing in my car is safety... it doesn't mean I am willing to drive a 10 ton beast with 2 MPG and no creature comforts though... don't confuse "most important" with "only important".

Thank you for the decent reply.

No, thank you for taking the time to read it. :) 👍

Too critical is arguing that not all cars have a cockpit view, WTF! seriously that would take 10 years to release.

I reckon that it would take 10 years, likely more, to model the remaining 800 standard cars to premium quality. But people have got to understand that nobody put a gun in their head and said "this level of quality is your new standard". I mean, the jump from GT4 cars to GT5 cars is huge. Enormous. Astronomical. What I mean, if the jump had been smaller, it would have been more likely to have 1000 cars to the same level of quality, and still be a lot higher than GT4 quality. That's just what I feel should have been done. There's a point where the detail can't go any further and still be visible. I think GT5's Premium cars have already reached it. And that's what my heart tells me.

Too critical is arguing the point that there are many variations of the same car, some people who love the collecting cars part of the game, find it entertaining, some others dont.

The Skyline. Some say there are too many variations. The GT-B, first generation and second generation GT-R. Those three are very unique. So are the Skylines that are not GT-Rs. In real life, all of those GT-Rs listed in the game are very different. It's mostly of how the game renders those differences. If the game succeeds on rendering them the way the should, then no damage taken. 👍

I cant be bothered listing some of the stuff on here, doesnt it give you some comfort, knowing DLC could possibly fix any of these shortcomings.

Yes it does. I hope it does fix them.

Physics is number 1 in my book and should be for any true GT fan, true?

Amen.

Toronado, I take it you are one of those Sonic fans who thought the originals were something special? Same here, it's funny though cause I seem to be the only Sonic fan who knew fine well 3D sonic games were NEVER going to reach the incredible standard those games set...I realise this with the GT series, it will never be the incredible game GT3 was but it's still behind GT5 as my favourite...why? GT5 just is a better game, not as incredible but MUCH better in every aspect than every previous GT before.

Actually, I thought Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast was the best of the series.

Anyhow, it is nice to see that at least half of us understand what the threat topic actually is, and have a reason to post in here. :D

Skipping all the arguing happening in this thread I just want to say I approve of this thread.

I love this game and it's even better than I expected it to be so awesome job PD 👍

I grew up in the 90s, was a fierce Sega loyalist to the bitter end of the Dreamcast, and my favorite game in the series is still Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the Gamecube.

GT5 just is a better game, not as incredible but MUCH better in every aspect than every previous GT before.
By what standard? The only thing I've noticed so far that is definitely better is the physics engine and that licence tests are now finally optional.

Based solely on the time I've invested in the game since I got it 9 days ago, it's safe to say that I love GT5. Sure, there are things I wanted that weren't delivered. But, there are so many features I like that I don't have enough time each night I sit down to play to cover everything I would like to do. Last night I decided to put some effort into licensing on the National A license tests. I got 5 golds and 5 silvers. Hardly impressive considering the number of drivers who have already achieved 60 golds. But, I was very happy with my results for now.

One of the tests involves an S-section and a BMW 135. To do well, you have to apex the first left turn early and I kept hitting it late resulting in only a silver or a bronze. It felt so good when I finally apexed correctly and I knew it when I hit the turn. I had a lot more speed for the for the right hand section. I felt like I had accomplished something - even though it's a small thing in the overall picture of the game. I learned an important lesson that will help me compete better with my friends.

For that lesson and more similar experiences, I am thankful. I'm not a fanboy; not even a Sony fanboy. I game on multiple consoles and on my laptop. But, I'll be enjoying GT5 for a long time to come.

Dc has not ended yet. Still on amazon new for $80 and a new Ss shooter to be released next year.

They stopped the production of the Dreamcast in 2001 and the only people developing for the console are homebrewers.

I'm loving the game, especially the B-Spec mode. I have had some good fun watching and coaching races when my wife want's me to put up my wheel because it takes up too much space. I had a race just yesterday where I came in 1st with 2nd and 3rd BOTH being .001 seconds behind me. in B-Spec mode. you can read about it in my SuperGT thread. It was epic, thank you PD!
