A 1000 year old supernova remnant, or the PS3 XMB default wallpaper?

Peter Funch took a whole crapload of photos of people in NYC and stitched people from many of the scenes according to a theme. They're pretty creepy, but still really cool photography.

Image of Atlantis space shuttle against the backdrop of the sun.
I'll one-up that with a shot of both Atlantis and the ISS. :)

And it's just a tiny bit bigger, too. :dopey:

That's amazing. I was reading somewhere (I can't find the article at the moment) that they're currently searching for planets in far away solar systems by using some astonishingly sensitive light-detection sensors to measure any dips in light when planets pass in front of their stars.

They used two metaphors for how sensitive the equipment is - it can detect a drop in light as subtle as switching one table lamp off in a large town, or alternatively, can measure a drop in light equivalent to that of a gnat passing in front of a car headlight.

I bet it was going crazy when Pacquiao knocked Hatton's lights out.

I like the first sea foam picture. Reminds me of polystyrene.

This thread presents a lot of marvels of man's drive to expand and explore. Let's view the seldom-exposed **** end of that stick:

Can anyone see these? They might need to be cached. I'll rehost if there're problemos.
The five images from dumpert.nl are not showing up for me, exigeracer.

First one works, though.

Fixed up for you guys. They are various photos from India, China and the Philippines. They don't represent any natural disaster other than domestic human waste.
