I just stumbled across this site while looking for HDR Photography and it is sweet. I'm not going to bother posting the pictures because that could take me all day. This website is full of really cool and creative stuff. This link takes you to the creative food designs area, there are a ton of others in there too.

I recomend the concept cars, bike designs, lego art, and the toaster design area. You should really give it a look.

I snapped this at a recent visit to the Franklin Science Museum in Philadelphia. It's an image made from an X-ray of a Ducati 888 by a couple artists in London, Hugh Turvey and Artemi Kyriacou.

They specialize in these types of images, where they X-ray unusual objects not typically captured by X-ray.

Click here to see some of their images in their gallery.

[Nerd moment] Looks like Mulgore in World of Warcraft! [/Nerd moment]

Sorry, first thing that came to my mind.
Ah, youth. Close Encounters: Rent it, buy it, love it.

I thought of mashed potatoes.

So Close Encounters for me, too.
The mashed potatoes were my exact first thought. 👍

I wanted a poster of some of those incredible Cassini photos like that, but I haven't been able to turn any up. I do have a small 8x10 print of one of the more basic photos.

Bonobos in the Congo - they are more closely related to us than they are to gorillas, and share over 98% of our DNA - although as these pictures demonstrate, you hardly need a degree in genetics to figure out that these guys are among our closest evolutionary relatives. Some of the pictures below could even be considered borderline AUP material  Sadly, these amazing creatures face bombardment on all sides from human endeavours, including the bush meat industry...

Wow, that 2nd picture would look completely human if it was wearing a mankini.

Also, the first one's Air Jordan silhouette is awesome.

I instantly thought of the movie Contact when I saw them sitting on the pads. Why just settle for one.

Cool pics FK! I'd love to get a higher rez shot of that extensive model of Shanghai. 👍

Ditto

NASA's website has some great shots of the shuttle from the last mission. One of my favorites is this one:

Backdropped by the blackness of space and the thin line of Earth's atmosphere, space shuttle Atlantis' payload bay, Canadian-built remote manipulator system robotic arm, vertical stabilizer and orbital maneuvering system pods are featured in this image photographed by an STS-125 crew member on Flight Day 10.

Another model of Shanghai:

There's also a master model of the city of Toronto. I forget who currently owns it, but it's been constantly updated for the past few decades, and apparently looks pretty much like the Shanghai model.

I found a couple of larger shots of the model, but apparently no one in China has a tripod. 👎:guilty:

Thanks TB... very impressive model! 👍

I'll have to dig up some shots I took of the city models that we saw during our visit to Lego Land... they were really quite impressive... certainly as far as Lego models go. :D

Saw this today and thought it deserved to be posted here..

The £35million plane was travelling at about 570mph when the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment was captured on camera at the Jones Beach Air Show in Wantagh, New York.

Super Hornets have been used by the US Navy since 1999. This plane was in flown by Pilot Lt. Justin Halligan and Lt Michael Witt.
Paul Jackson, editor of Jane's All the World's Aircraft, said the vapour cone effect was caused by pressure differences around the aircraft. A sudden drop in pressure associated with The shape of the Super Hornet, which can travel at up to 1,370mph - 1.8 times the speed of sound - encourages the cone to form.

I like the way it's described as "blink and you'll miss it" - those vapour formations last a good few seconds and usually in a few bursts -

Still though, impressive picture 👍

Tom, people have posted much larger pictures in the thread, surely its not a problem to see it full size.

In my opinion the vastness of the photo is what makes it special. Viewing the image at its full size makes the shot. The size factor in the one you posted isn't really a part of the photograph though, it's a photo of an F1 ca that happens to be huge. In fact, on my screen, the image is far nicer when I can see the entire thing on one screen. Just because it's big doesn't necessarily make is amazing or cool.
