The car still turns like a brick. My car only hits like 145 I think..I'll check..BTW here are my splits after 1 lap(clean)

I'm gonna try a different approach to these cars now.No HP upgrades..I'll see what happens.

Wow. I'm toast.....

I've only got a whisker more then 500hp, and my car is heavier....I also have a max speed of 133mph....I am so dead...

Not if you get to your max faster, stop faster, and exit corners faster. ;)

Well, I'd exit corners a whole lot faster if my rear left tyre didn't light up all the time! It's still smoking at 100mph in 4th....

Just wondering, does anyone want to reveal if they've brought S3's? I havn't seen anyone that has yet....

Getting ready to run my race...Any advice???

Go FAST!

@Casio. Set TCS to 1 to get rid of wheelspin. If that doesn't work go to 2 and so on. Otherwise, just use your right foot as a TCS. :sly:

Hey bhawk776, Do you like the Chevelle? I mean, do you like the tunring on it? I got use to It but then I tryd the Cougur and I liked It better. You mod, or change anything in it yet? If so, lemme know.

I bought them, but ended up going with the transmission ... Tires are good, yes, but I got way more improvement with the Tranny (and with my Z28, I couldn't afford both :P).

BTW, I also run with '1' TCS ... only way I could stop the tires smoking and losing time.

Edit: Just ran my first two T times...

T1: 31.819
T2: 1'15.764

Ummm.... :nervous:

There'll be a thread for the New York track in less than 12 hrs time to kick off the competition. Those splits aren't too bad, although I can't remember mine off the top of my head, you're certainly in the right ball park.

I'll be posting mine when the comp kicks off :)

SHELBY!

What. No other Ford guys gonna join in kicking a little vette butt? :sly:

:D
I wanted to use the Shelby sooooooooo bad but after testing I just couldn't get it competitive. Apparently it doesn't suit my driving style as well as a few of the other choices. On NY the Stingray, Camaro SS Charger R/T were better. But I suspect that NY is the fastest track (highest top speed) in the competition. Some of the other rides may shine on tracks where handling & quickness rule. I tried the Shelby, Stingray and Camaro SS at Infineon too with the same results. I am bummed that I couldn't get it turning quick laps :grumpy: .

That's what made the Camaro SS so attractive. You could afford both the tranny and the S3's! But when I tested at Infineon I didn't need the tranny. I got better times with the stock tranny and say a better clutch and some other stuff ($10,000+ will go a long way on other upgrades). But with the Camaros you have to have the tranny at NY or your dead. I almost went with the Camaro SS but would've had to basically concede the NY race w/o the tranny in favor of better times at the other tracks. To make that decision I would've had to spend additional testing time at least at the 1st 4 tracks to see if what I found at Infineon panned out elsewhere. I ran out of time, energy and enthusiam for testing the cars.

Kolyana...that's why I asked you the question (maybe in a PM?) regarding changing upgrade combinations for each race. I figured if I had the tranny at NY and then could switch to a different combo for the other races I'd be set.

Yeah, I looked hard at this to. I've pretty much given away the NY race but others shouldn't be to bad.

1. New York - Normal (2/3 - Quite Long Straights)
2. Seattle Circuit - Reverse (One Longish, but not near as long as NY)
3. Laguna Seca Raceway (Only one where'd you reach max speed, but it is uphill)
4. Infineon Raceway - Sports Car Course (You're going to need short gears for this)
5. Citta di Aria (You might reach a high speed coming down the hill....)
6. Tsukuba (Low speed)
7. Hong Kong (No really long straights)
8. Special Stage 5 Clubman (One really long straight, but maybe the rules have changed by then 👍)

Got some runs in.... I'm sitting here with MustangManiac16 and I think I may actually be competitive in OLR for once... :D

While there's certainly a level of attraction in doing something like this, I wanted to make people think a little about the season as a whole ... take a hit now, but excel in other locations, lose the race, but win the season ... type of thing.

If anything, I think there's going to be a lot of learning and appreciating the various cars, their handling, strengths, weaknesses and how the individual parts help or hinder performance.

I went with the transmission in the end, figuring that there are several tracks where it'll be useful and - oddly - I didn't make such a huge gain on the slightly softer compound tires (I thought it would have been more). But then, I do suck at driving :P

BTW guys, I'm trying to keep this whole series nicely 'polished' and visually appealing, so if you want to post a picture of your ride, I'd love to see it. Likewise, I don't want to use my car in the picture of each track and race in the forthcoming weeks, so if you want to take a shot of your car on one of the future tracks, I'd love to use it as one of the next 'weekly banners'.

I have never taken pictures of my cars before (which is kind of sad), but I will go try to take a few and see how I do. Which brings me to my question.

@Koly...are wheels or a car wash considered an upgrade?

Hey everyone....Me again...New time. Yes I know "Quit sending times" But...O-WELL. I feel like it becuase Its an accomplishment. So, here you are.

T1: 30.722
T2: 113.973

***I had a time that to me was really good. I didnt get the T1 and T2 becuase I forgot to save them. But they are still on ym memorie card. The time was: 1'46.595. I will show "Jetboys" this info for proof. How-ever, that time was not for the T1 & T2 I just gave you.***

Yellow '69 Vette (C3) at NY:

$5,250 HP
- 4,700 NA I
- 50 Oil Change
= 500 Left Over

$14,000 Non HP
- 2,600 Twin Plate Clutch
- 1,000 Racing Flywheel
- 2,750 Carbon Driveshaft
- 6,200 Sport Soft Tires (S3)
- 1,100 Weight Reduction I
= 350 Left Over

T1 - :31.559
T2 - 1:12.280

EDIT: I dunno if I can get too much out of T1 in this car as I am redlining at the start line and seen as how I have just the default tranny *SNIFFLE SNIFFLE* it may be my best here.

jump_ace

I have the default as well in my '69 SS but I'm not too worried about this race. I'm just hoping all the extra cash I saved and spent on suspension and everything else comes in handy on the shorter tracks.

Is it Tsukuba week yet Nat? LOL. Are we allowed to discuss our FINAL times here, I couldn't remember and I am assuming not. Just ran it again and am about .4 behind my previuos best....ggrrr.....I can't really trim much here it seems, so maybe I should make the Nurb leaderboard. Yes I'll do that and provide the link here in a sec.

jump_ace

Jump, I don't really want to discuss final times too much ... I mean, I don't think it would be a CRIME, but I really only want to do that for things like the Drag Strip and Point-to-Point (and even then, if drivers wish to obfuscate their final times, I'm cool with that).

Start the Drag & P2P threads, please, 'cos I have some times to kick things off a little :)

Dude! Where the hell did that come from??? Just a word of advice... Don't post your final time. Just the first two checkpoints...
